departing

His soft footsteps thudded down the hallway as he made his way downstairs to her awaiting lord. That was it, she was going back. She would recieve no mercy either. It seemed that Sesshoumaru wouldn't save her this time. Her soft blue eyes began to water at the realization that these may be her last few days on earth, and they would not be pleasant either.

A soft little hand came to rest upon her and a loving smile graced her vision. The small girl that had taken care of her was there, peering up at her with more hope in her soft brown eyes than Ayana had had in the past few years. Slowly, she rose from the bed and allowed the small girl to dress her. They took their time getting her dressed, and Ayana all the while tried her best to keep the tears away, not wanting those in the house to know her despair. She would leave here with pride, no matter how much it hurt.

Her scent lingered within him as he made his way down the hall. She had been unconcious for the past few days, and he had watched over her until he felt her begin to slowly slip out of the small coma she had been in. The wounds had been great, and her tender wings had been badly stripped of flesh and feather, but in time they would heal properly, he would see to it. She would not go back to the demons who waited for her downstairs, she was his now... again...for good.

It had been a hard two days, watching her suffer in her own unconciousness. Her body was in such pain, but there was nothing he could do to ease it, although he longed too. He would take every ounce of that pain for her, though he would never let her know, not right now. He was still too hurt by her leaving, but his love for her had never faded, even if he acted like it had, it could never be tossed aside so quickly. Her thoughts had been full of him and their times together while she lay unknowing to the world the past few days, and it had softened something within him as he cared for her. It had been so long since he had been that close to her, and the thought of it and the memories of her soft flesh against his own was too much. All he desired to do was shake her awake and bury his face against her milky skin and breathe her in until part of her was taken into his own flesh. Memories had flooded into his mind over the past two days, and they had been shared too. She still thought of him, and it was a relief to the stoic demon, her thoughts had opened a link into his own mind and he was able to share something with her once again. Though he would never admit it to a single living soul, he had missed her terribly, and he had been scared, scared that she was gone from his life. It had hurt when she left, but what hurt the most was the fact that her love may have been lost to him too. He had feared that she didn't care for him or love him at all, and that she was happy where she was then, happy without him. Yet somehow he never could believe it. As he sat with her the past few nights, their last encounter began to replay through his mind. She had come to him with her decision, yet she never looked at him, and something about her scent had changed too. It had been unguarded and he could detect the soft smell of salt from tears. He was convinced that she had not wanted to go, but was forced somehow. Yet in his anger he had cast her from the safety of his lands when he should've fought to keep her.

He would never make that mistake again. Someone had smiled down upon him and given him a second chance, and he would not ignore it this time.

Slowly he made his way to them, letting the vision of her soft blue eyes peering into his own stay with him for a little longer. He knew she was afraid, and perhaps he had intended to put that fear into her. Some part of him wanted her in pain, not a lot but a little for she had put him in enough of it when she up and left the safety of his house to go to those mongrels. He knew it wasn't right, he knew she was innocent in all of this, but he was still angry with her, though this time his actions would be carefully thought out. This time he would find out why she had departed, why she had gone to them, and what had happened to her. He would seek to right any wrongs that had come upon her while she was there and exact his own revenge for his own pain over the past few years. They would pay, this was certain. But now was not the time for that though, now it was time to banish those men from his lands without the prize they seeked to attain with their coming there, and make them wait for their fate. One that would come to them soon enough.

Quietly, and purposefully he walked to his meeting chambers where the others lay waiting for his return. Jaken awaited him, opening the doors for him, and he entered to greet the lord inside and his two attendents.

Sesshoumaru's eyes narrowed at the sight of him, and coldly he passed by him without any proper greeting and took a seat at the far end of a table, waiting for them too to sit. Which they did, sneering in triumphant glee that the icy lord was going to be all too happy to erase.

"I assume she is getting ready Lord Sesshoumaru," the elder said, producing each word from his obnoxious mouth with a large smile.

Sesshoumaru merely smiled, which seemed to startle the other Lord's attendents, as well as his own. "Oh yes, she is getting ready, but not to leave,"

The smile quickly vanished from the other mans face at Sesshoumaru's last words, and the look that replaced it would've terrified any man or lesser demon for that matter. Sesshoumaru was hardly phased however, and merely managed a raised eyebrow at his guests' rising hostility.

"Escuse me..." he began but the other Lord was quick to cut him off with a simple gesture.

"You heard me, she will not be returning with you. But I assure you she'll be down shortly to bid you farewell." he murmured, gazing at his clawed hand, inspecting them for who knows what, all he knew was it deserved far more of his attention than the lowly being in his presence.

He didn't even have to look at him to know that the demon within his chambers was boiling over with rage. Yet to strike something within him, Sesshoumaru threw a single glance in his direction, unnerving him even more when that same eyebrow arched perfectly at him once more.

Rage, that was the only word to describe what he saw upon the other Lord's face, and to Sesshoumaru it was glorious. The only thing that could make this moment even more perfect would be Ayana's farewell, which was soon to come.

A full smile graced the Western Lord's face as he heard his little companion start down the stairs with his angel in tow.

************************************************
Ayana couldn't help her trembling. She could feel her master near and his emotions were practically bombarding all of her senses. Lovely, Sesshoumaru had somehow upset him and she would no doubt face his wrath once they returned to the castle. Please, why wait for the caste, her beatings would come as soon as they were back in the forests.

The tears began to well up in her eyes even though she desperately tried to keep them at bay, however they would not stop and Ayana couldn't go any farther. She stopped exactly at the last step to the stairs, unable to go any farther and the young girl in front of her turned to gaze upon her.

She could see the young girls eyes fill with concern and slowly she was approached by the young human. A tender hand touched her own and gripped it tightly. Her soft voice began to speak and even though she wasn't able to process all of what the young girl was saying, somehow it calmed her down quite a deal. Yet still her legs refused to move toward that door that hid her master from her.

He was angry, and she knew something was going to happen to her.

********************************************************
Sesshoumaru could sense them now, and Ayana was crying. They were close, almost to the door and she was terrified to come closer. Her fear rolled through the rooms in waves and this seemed to get the other lords attention. In the blink of an eye the elder demon shot for the door, and Sesshoumaru wasn't far behind.

There she stood, in a long flowing black gown, her damaged wings wrapped in bandages and shuttering softly with her sobs. Rin merely stood there, oblivious to anything but his distressed love, tenderly whispering encouraging things to her. Suddenly though, Ayana stopped crying and looked up to gaze upon the face of her former master. Sesshoumaru smiled as he saw the lord before him seethe with even more anger. It was going to be a good day when he escorted him from his home and Ayana stood by his side.

"Ayana, say goodbye." Sesshoumaru said, casting his hardened gaze in the angel's direction.

******************************************************

Say goodbye. She knew it she just knew it. Her master looked furious and she knew that her body would be his outlet for it. Sesshoumaru's icy words as well as his frightening gaze glared upon her, chilling her to her very core. She wouldn't live through this day, she just knew it. And slowly the tears once more poured out of her.

Looking down upon her little companion, then once more at the love of her life, she uttered the command she had been given, "Goodbye."
