A Whisper of a Different Kind
‘Welcome to my time.’ Inuyasha’s word rang in her ears, confusing her. What does he mean? Kagome found herself looking about her surroundings, finding, not towering buildings, but towering trees. She heard not the sound of the busy street, but the soft sound of birds. Where was she? Who was this and what was it that played in his golden gaze as he stared down at her?
“What do you mean? Where am I? Who are you? What am I doing here?” She couldn’t help but voice her questions, for if it’s one thing she has learned, it’s you’ll never know answers unless you ask the questions. Inuyasha cocked his head to the side, that lazy, sexy grin coming back to his face.
“You have traveled to my time. About 500 years back to be exact. I’m Inuyasha, your soulmate and you’re here cause I’ve called to you.” As he spoke, Kagome’s eyes widened. Soulmate? Time travel? All she could do was shake her head, confusion clouding her eyes, which he must have sensed, for he added.
“A soulmate is someone that you are joined with, someone you share a soul with. This well,” Inuyasha pointed down the well on which she still perched, “is connected to both our worlds so that one day, you could rejoin me. As have many other soulmates here.” She stood, brushing the dirt from her dark green school uniform shirt.
“I see… so you are my soulmate and… I’m 500 years in the past.” Kagome wasn’t sure if she could believe him, but as she walked on wobbling legs toward the forest, she realized that he had to be right. The shrine, the place which she called home, was no longer there. I’m really… but… this can’t be. Startled brown eyes collided with calm golden ones and she knew; it was very possible. The thought that this might be a dream had crossed her mind, but her dreams were nothing like this.
This is not a dream.
You are here and you are very much mine…
Kagome bulked, staring at him with daggered eyes. How dare you!? I’m not some… idem you can just pick up and claim! With that, she turned and stormed off, heading toward… she didn’t know. Kagome only knew that she had to get away from the sexy hanyou before he consumed her with his very presence. She soon found herself standing in front of a weather beaten hut, why she had came here, she didn’t know.
“Hello…?” Her shaky voice belied her strong appearance as an elderly woman stepped out of the hut.
“Why, hello. Ye must be the woman Inuyasha has been hunting for.” Her warm smile calmed Kagome’s raging nerves. “I’m Keada; it’s a pleasure to meet ye.” Kagome nodded, a warm smile finding its way across her lips.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you as well, I’m Kagome, but I suppose you already knew that.” Her eyes darted to Inuyasha, who had come up behind her as she spoke to Keada.
“Have ye told her, lad?” Inuyasha merely nodded; unable to believe that Kagome had found her way her. Then again, he had been staying here for some time, so his aura must have lured her to Keada’s hut. There were things about soulmates that he didn’t even know.
“Feh! Of course I have!” He seethed, Kagome whipped around, hissing at him.
“Didn’t anyone ever teach you to treat your elders with respect!?!?!” Keada laughed, shaking her head, her graying black hair swaying with her moments.
“Ye two will get along fine. Just be sure to mark her soon, Inuyasha, least other demons come sniffing about.” A stunned Kagome and a fuming Inuyasha watched the elderly woman disappear into her house.
“Oh, believe me, old lady, I’ll mark her! I’ll be doing it soon too.” His last sentence was said in a drawl, his eyes narrowing slightly. Kagome felt like a creature caught in the jaws of a great beast.
“Mark? What does she mean?” As soon as she had asked, she wished she could have toke the words back. Inuyasha slowly advanced on her, but she was unable to move from her spot, the look in his eyes shook her to the core.
“Let me show you…” Inuyasha’s voice toke on a sexy drawl, making her blood burn and heat pool low in her belly.
“Inuyasha…?” Kagome knew her voice came out as a whisper, but she couldn’t help the feelings that coursed through her blood.
