It was something about the looks on her face that made both
Inuyasha and Kouga wonder, it looked like she recognized them, but how could
that be possible? They had never seen her before in their life, so how could she
know them? They were not famous or anything so she could not have seen their
pictures anywhere. They stopped in front of her table and flashed a grin.

Can we sit here with you? asked Kouga.

No, this is a private table, snorted Ayame, hiding her anger and
fear behind a mask of ice.

Can you not be nice and let us sit down for awhile? Asked
Inuyasha.

No!
Kouga sniffed the air discreetly, and then he was sure. She was a
demon, just like him and Inuyasha. In the corner of his eyes he could see
Inuyasha’s nose twitch lightly, his friend had smelled her heritage as well.
They ignored her protests and sat down on each side of her, waving a waitress
over to the table.

Two beers please, said Inuyasha. – Do you want anything
sweetheart?

Yes, I want you to get the hell away from my table, snarled
Ayame.

She wants another of those umbrella drinks of yours, smiled
Inuyasha.
The waitress nodded and went to the bar to get their orders.

So, what is your name? asked Kouga and scooted closer.

My name is none of your business.

You live in that big house down the road…
Ayame’s eyes widened. “How could they
know?”

How did you know? she asked silently.

We was tracking a mermaid, but ended up in your garden, said
Kouga.

Huh? A mermaid?

Yes, or I don’t know… she had no fish tail, but she was in the
water and she swam like an Olympic swimmer, said Inuyasha.
Ayame blushed and grabbed the glass that the waitress gave her
and gulped down the drink in one mouth.

Hey, hey baby, what’s the rush? asked Inuyasha and grabbed her
wrist.

Let me go or I will hurt you… badly! snarled Ayame.

Cool it lady, said Kouga.
“That’s it.”
thought Ayame and put down the glass and took a deep breath and closed her eyes.
“One, two, three…” She put her hand on their shoulders and pushed, hard
and violently. Her strength was enough to push them off the seat and give her
time to get out from her compromising position. As soon as she was free on the
floor she turned around she saw them crawl up. She smirked and grabbed their
thick hair and knocked their heads together.
Inuyasha and Kouga saw stars. They heard the female say something
to them but since their heads was in a mush they could not figure it out. The
next second she was gone.
“Fucking assholes.” 3">
She muttered in her mind as she ran outside. She turned to the sea, knowing she
could get away from them as soon as she was in the water. Although, she did
smile when she remembered their little remark. “So I am
as good as an Olympic swimmer huh?”
Kouga and Inuyasha shook their heads, trying to rid them of the
swirling stars. They looked up just in time to see the bitch disappear through
the exit. Both were up in two seconds flat and ran after her, but they were
stopped by the bartender, he held out the base ball bat.

Stop it right there gentlemen, he said firmly.

Get out of our way! snarled Inuyasha and his eyes glowed
dangerously.

No, not until you two have cooled down, said the bartender.
Kouga growled and took a hold of the bat and snapped it into with
fforffort at all.

Move! said Kouga to the stunned man.
And with that Inuyasha and Kouga rushed outside. They saw her
fading figure heading towards the sea.

Let’s get her, said Inuyasha and Kouga nodded.
They soon realized that their prey was stripping while she was
running. First they saw a pair of shredded black leather pants, then the black
top. Inuyasha stumbled over the shoes she had worn. “What the fuck is she up
too?” he thought as he tried to will his erection down. Just knowing that
there was a female, a very beautiful female, running naked in front of him
somewhere made him horny as hell and by the way Kouga smelled, yeah, his friend
liked the idea as well.
Ayame felt a wash of relief when she saw the shore line; this was
her ticket to get away from the two testosterone oozing males that were chasing
her. She heard the gasps as she dived without fear into the ocean.
"3">Inuyasha and Kouga rushed as fast as they could over to the
shore, but when they looked down, the black green waters of the sea had
swallowed up their prey. She was nowhere to be seen.

Shit, did you see that? asked a stunned Kouga.

Yeah, she just jumped, she did not even look down, she just
jumped, said Inuyasha breathlessly.

She is fucking nuts! Come let’s go down, perhaps she hurt
herself.
Inuyasha nodded and they jumped from edge to edge until they
reached the bottom. They sniffed the air, trying to find any traces of her
blood. But they could not find any. They looked out over the surface of the
water and they saw the typical fins of sharks and their mind were filled with
fear. If she was in the water….

cursed Kouga.
But Inuyasha noticed that the sharks swam further away from the
shore and in a short moment of inspiration he used his demonic speed to reach
the outskirt of the rugged shore line. And what he saw under the water made him
smile in victory. Because under the waves he could see the contours of a female,
swimming with the sharks, one of them was actually giving her a lift.
“The Shark Maiden…”
