Inuyasha Who?
She pulled away slowly and reluctantly and slowly headed to the door. She had her hands on the handles and looked back to see him watching her. A loving look ran across his eyes for a second and then it was replaced with his normal, submissive look. He nodded and as she was closing the door, he said in a sort of whisper, “Tomorrow, we begin your training…”
~*~*~*~*~*~~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~**~*~*~*~*~*~*~
They were in the library again. This time, there was a roaring fire from the fireplace and they were snuggled on the carpet in from of the fire. She was being read to by Sesshoumaru, in his stable, gentle voice, only being broken from a wink to her. She was leaned against his chest and she could feel his chest vibrate when he spoke. She loved it when he read to her.
Suddenly, someone was poking her. She looked around and saw no one but Sesshoumaru and he acted like nothing happened; he just kept on reading. She snuggled herself on his chest again. Again, someone poked her. Now she was getting annoyed. She lifted off of his chest and looked around. Still no one but her and Sesshoumaru. She was becoming cranky. Who the Hell was poking her?
“Come on, Woman! Get out of bed! Lord Sesshoumaru commands it! C’MON!” said a toady voice. This time, she was jabbed in the ribs hard. She sat up rather quickly and snarled, her claws out and ready to kill. Jaken stumbled backwards and fell.
“Gah!” he said, as he toppled over. He scrambled up and bowed. “L-lady, you are awake. G-good. The L-lord Sesshoumaru wishes to speak with you, in the dojo, m-milady.” Tsk, why a petty human was chosen to be the Lady of the West, search me! Thought Jaken as he left the room.
Kagome rubbed the sleep from her eyes and yawned, squinting at the slight sunlight seeping through the window. She wondered what time it was, since it was still slightly dark outside. The sky was turning a steadier light blue by the moment when she finally pulled her feet to the side of the bed. She lo dow down and rolled her eyes. All she was wearing was a robe.
“Tsk, such decency, huh?” she spoke to herself. She stretched and rose from the bed. She grabbed a new fighting dress, in pretty lavender, and headed out of her bedroom doors with just a robe and slippers on. She shuffled down the halls to the bathing springs and through open the doors.
She had never really seen the bathing room, just the golden plate by the door that said “Bathing Room”. It was one of the most beautiful things in the world. Everywhere, there were springs here and there. One particular one had a large, cascading waterfall over it. Others just had floating rose petals on them. All in all, there were about 10 different pools, each with different contents on the tops, such as petals or bubbles.
Kagome wandered about for a bit, dipping her hand in each spring, sniffing each scent. One she particularly liked was one that had a soft waterfall crashing down with lilac petals on the top, the whole pool scented like lilacs. As she took off her robe and slippers and was about to wade in, towels instantly appeared, as if out of thin air. Kagome looked around to see who had dropped them there, but since there was no one, she waded in and her breath was taken away.
The water was so pleasantly warm, the petals moving aside as she descended into the water. She waded away from the shore of the pool toward the waterfall at the other end of it. She ducked her head under that and felt the soft raining water from the fall. She then dunked her head under the surface and just lightly swam back to the towels.
She surfaced by the towels and found that there were now soaps there. She shrugged and took them. First, she put some of the soap in her hands and lathered it into her hair. The soap smelt so good, like lilacs. She rinsed her hair with a dunk under the water and now lathered up a washcloth with soap. She washed her body over her treasured, lady regions and along her back and everywhere else. When she had finished, she dunked under the water and rinsed off, the suds floating for a little while and then disappearing, as if no soere ere there at all.
Looking back at the rest of the tranquil pool, she got out of the water and dried off. She pulled on her fighting dress and wrapped her hair in a turban. She slipped her slippers back on and shuffled out of the bathing room.
As she came out of the bathing room, a slightly irked looking Sesshoumaru was in her face. She took her hair out of the turban and was ruffling her hair, drying it with the towel. She looked up into his irked face and raised an eyebrow.
“Can I help you?” she asked, sarcastically.
“You can tell me why you are late,” said Sesshoumaru, his mono-toned voice back.
“Would you rather have me come to ‘practice’ dirty and unfed?” she asked, still drying her hair with the towel.
He looked at her, his eyes narrowing. “Yes.”
“Well, Mr. Impatience, no, I won’t come to training dirty and unfed. I’m gonna get some breakfast. Wanna come, Teacher Sesshou?” she asked, walking down the hall, her hips swaying slightly.
“I have brought something for you to eat on the way, Woman,” said Sesshoumaru. He held out a blue apple, a small, bamboo drink carrier, and a roll. He tossed them to her, which she hastily caught.
“Hey! Is this it?” she asked, gesturing to the apple and roll in one hand.
“Food. Don’t you know it?” he asked in a mock voice.
Her eye twitched. “Is this really it? You expect –.”
“Enough of your squabbling! That is what you will eat for breakfast, the same as lunch. Dinner is the only large meal you have and that is usually when important guests are here. We youkai, you will see, do not eat much and definitely not human food. This is rich, youkai food, the best picked. Now, if we could continue on instead of talking, that would be best. Not unless, Woman, you have any more annoying questions?” he asked, turning his head slightly from his forward position to glance back at her.
Kagome’s face was contorted in an angry pout. This was it? She lightly snorted and continued to walk on, biting into the bread. Surprisingly, it was rather sweet tasting, not like other breads she knew of, that were hard and not very appealing. But, this “youkai” bread was rather sweet and incredulously chewy, just how she liked it.
Sesshoumaru continued to walk along the long corridor, Kagome behind him, munching on the bread. He smirked inwardly at the small, happy grunts she was making as she bit into the bread. Indeed, it was a sort of sweet bread that youkai ate and loved, personally Sesshoumaru’s choice thing to eat in the morning.
Kagome brushed the crumbs off of her chin and checked her outfit for any, but found none. She took a sip of the drink and her eyes seemed to roll back in pleasure. The drink was a sweet nectar-like substance that was sweeter than any fruit that Kagome had tasted. It had no pulp and no heavy gulps it made the throat do, as Kagome’s other juices had always done. This juice tasted like a combination of peaches, mangos, and slight citrus orange juice that flowed velvety smooth and deliciously slow down her throat. Her throat seemed cooled by the juice’s touch and she felt contented and relaxed.
She stopped drinking and looked at the blue apple in her hand. Blue? I wonder, she thought, if it tastes different from a regular apple? She nibbled a bit and her brows went up in sweet delight. This apple tasted WAY better than any old apple! She looked at the juices leaking from the nibble mark and they too were blue. She crunched into the apple, the sweet juices dripping in her mouth and the flesh of the apple crunchy and fresh in her mouth. Oooooh, this was like heaven! She finished the apple in haste of the intoxicating taste and drank the rest of her very sweet juice. She paused and she felt so contented and happy as the sweetness she had just consumed fell into the pit of her stomach.
“Mmmm…. That was sooooo good! Is everything here so…. sweet?” asked Kagome, some of her human emotion showing, sweet happiness on her beautiful face.
Sesshoumaru glanced out of the corner of his eye at her, a smirk threatening to creep onto his stoic face. “Yes, it is,” he replied. He looked forward again, suppressing the urge to stop and lick a bit of the nectar from the corner of her mouth. “You’ll find that all youkai food is far more appetizing than any human food. It is sweeter, crunchier, and all in all, more flavorful,” he explained calmly. ’ll ’ll also find that it is rather filling.”
Kagome pondered on what he just said. How could she go back to regular human food if she was spoiled on this? “Yes, I am full.” Innocence seemed to leave from her as she returned to her youkai emotions.
They stopped at a large, double door. Sesshoumaru thrust it open and walked on. Kagome just stood there, looking around. They were in a beautiful outdoor garden. For a garden area, it sure was big, but as Kagome finished looking around, her eyes rested on a large, stone platform that looking like a fighting ring. Beside it was a rather large looking building, sort of looking like an overly large shed. She could see the shadow of a katana through the thin rice paper walls. Ah, she thought, that must be the weapons store…
She began walking on more when she saw that Sesshoumaru was sniffing the air. She crept over to him and looked at his face. It was turned up in rather dislike and sort of amusement.
“Sesshoumaru?” she asked him, worry seeming to etch at her face.
“He is here at last…” was all he said. Kagome raised an eyebrow and looked out at the forest beyond and below the castle. She sniffed lightly and paused, her mind seeming to process something. She knew this scent from somewhere, but where?
She looked below again and saw a blur of red streak past. She raised an eyebrow and looked at Sesshoumaru for an answer.
“Sesshoumaru, who…?” she was about to ask when the red blur streaked up to the top where they were, obviously climbing the stone and leaping into the sky to reach here.
“So, hanyou, have you arrived for something or are you just here to gawk like an idiot?” asked Sesshoumaru, his icy cold façaderingring its head, a slight smirk playing at his lips.
Kagome looked at the obvious half-youkai in front of him. He was out of breath before, but now he was just looking at her. His eyes widened as he scanned her body and his eyes came to rest on hers, as though searching. He held a massive sword that seemed to glow a bit.
She sniffed lightly again and looked at the hanyou facing her with a bewildered look on his face. He had puppy dog-ears on the top of his head and silky, white silver hair that fell down his back. He was barefoot and wearing a red robe that was indeed very baggy. He had amber eyes, burning with curiosity and confusion.
Her eyes seemed to narrow in a disliking way and she moved her head back from hihey hey were standing about ten feet apart, but she felt as though he were right in her face, breathing his breath on her. She looked at Sesshoumaru and she was surprised that he was looking at her, a twitch in his lip signaling he wanted to smirk so badly.
Kagome looked again from Sesshoumaru’s eyes to the hanyou’s, wondering what was going on. Finally, she blurted it out, looking straight at the hanyou, “Who are you?”
The hanyou seemed taken aback, looking as though he had been slapped. He cleared his throat a bit, his eyes moistening a little. He stepped forward and she stood strong, her chin in the air, taking a defiant stand.
“K-kagome, its m-me,” he stuttered, taking another step forward.
Kagome raised an eyebrow. Who was this hanyou that stunk up the air? How did he know her if she didn’t know him? Why was his scent familiar, but she couldn’t remember his name or memories of this hanyou?
“Indeed, Half-Breed, that is my name. What is yours?” she asked, her voice cold. She stared him down, Kagome clearly about a couple inches tallean tan this hanyou.
He looked like he had been slapped again and he looked bewilderedly at Sesshoumaru. Sesshoumaru chuckled lightly and took a step forward toward the hanyou.
“It seems, Hanyou, that she no longer remembers you and your pathetic ‘memories’,” said Sesshoumaru, a definite smirk on his face.
The hanyou’s eyes narrowed and he leapt into the air, bringing his sword down on Sesshoumaru. The blade made no contact whatsoever, for Sesshoumaru moved to the side as though he did it casually all the time. The hanyou seemed to attack still and still Sesshoumaru moved out of the way with ease.
Sesshoumaru chuckled again. “This is ridiculous, Inuyasha. Face it: the girl DOES NOT remember you at all.”
The hanyou called ‘Inuyasha’ stopped his attempts to attack Sesshoumaru and looked downward, his bangs covering his face. Inuyasha turned and looked at Kagome. She smelt salty tears and she looked coldly at the hanyou crying.
“Kagome, please tell me you know me…I’m Inuyasha,” he pleaded, taking a step towards Kagome.
She raised another eyebrow. “So, ‘Inuyasha’, tell me: How come you know me and I do not know you?” she asked in an icy tone, her lavender eyes emotionless.
He took another step forward. “Kagome, quit fooling around!” he said angrily, taking another step forward.
“I assure you, ‘Inuyasha’, that I am not fooling,” she said in a monotone voice.
Like a flash of light, Sesshoumaru was standing right behind Kagome. He smirked at Inuyasha and lowered his mouth to Kagome’s ears. He asked her, “Would you like to know more about this Inuyasha, Woman?”
She glanced at the hanyou standing dumbstruck and nodded curtly. Sesshoumaru smirked again and faced Inuyasha. “So, Inuyasha, which memories are the best I can remind her of? Hmm?” he asked. He smirked wider. “Yes, I know of some…How fitting that she will remember you as so.”
Inuyasha’s eyes held curiosity and anger. “What do you mean ‘how fitting that she will remember you as so?” he growled.
“How you treated her, of course,” Sesshoumaru said in a falsely sincere voice.
Inuyasha’s eyes widened and he rushed to get to Sesshoumaru and Kagome, but a sudden force field went up and blocked Inuyasha from getting there.
He watched in horror as Sesshoumaru lightly touched Kagome on the head, the area of the brain that holds memories. He watched as Kagome’s eyes closed and then snapped open, watching things play over in her head.
A woman that looked like her old human self, made out of dirt and other earthly things, touching Inuyasha’s face lovingly and kissing him as he kissed back. Then she saw her old human self find them, start to cry, and run away as the other two were still kissing passionately.
She saw Inuyasha and the same woman being together, in each other’s arms under the stars and moons and then her vision rushed through the forest where her old self was cursing his name and crying her eyes out.
Another vision came from where this Inuyasha was yelling at her and making her cry and then Inuyasha telling her to shut up with her sissy crying and then storming off. She saw flashes of memories and visions alike and alike again race through her mind.
In reality, Kagome was bristling, snarling, and her body was tensing, her sharp claws extended and flexing menacingly. Tremendous power was surging through the force field until it snapped under her power. Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha both stepped back in opposite directions, surprised looks dawning on their faces.
Kagome’s eyes were flooding with red, like her eyes were bleeding. She felt no pain or emotion, only anger. Searing, boiling, hot anger streaming through her veins, her blood beating fiercely in her ears.
“HOW DARE ANYONE TREAT ME AS SUCH!” screamed Kagome. She shot an infuriated glare at Inuyasha, who took several steps back. “YOU!”
She pointed a long, fingernail at Inuyasha. It extended more and looked menacingly like a small sword. “NO ONE SHOULD TREAT ME AS SUCH! AND A HANYOU AT THAT! HOW * DARE * YOU!” she screamed.
She leapt into the air and came down hard on Inuyasha’s sword, which he used, in the last second, to defend him. Both clanged dangerously, but Inuyasha was slipping back. He braced himself with his feet, but they were slipping as well, sending a dirt cloud behind him. She continued to press harder and stronger, her anger pumping through her veins and beating in her ears.
* Crack, crack * Inuyasha looked to his sword and his eyes widened in terror. The Tetsusaiga was cracking! Inuyasha pulled away and leapt out of the way just before Kagome’s claws tore through him. Part of his robe was torn as he leapt out of the way. Under his breath, he cursed and leapt back more, putting more distance between him and the raging Kagome. The thoughts in her mind were also in his, playing over in his head. They were true…But, he was not like that all the time!
A tap came on his shoulder and as he turned to look, claws slashed across his face and blood flew to the ground. He spiraled in midair from the blow and landed with a thud on the grassy ground. He moaned in pain as Kagome was stepping on his back.
She leaned forward toward his ear and she whispered ever so lightly in his ear, “Did you think you could escape me, Inuyasha?”
He moaned in agony as she ground her foot into the dirt. “Yes, yes, I remember you now, you senseless twit hanyou. How you tormented me with your false, sweet words? How you led my heart in a trap that I, as a human, easily fell for? How you ran off with that clay bitch, your fuck buddy? Yes, I remember you now, boy. I remember.”
Inuyasha’s eyes widened. Kagome never said those words! He sucked in as much breath and gasped in pain. She was grounding her heel into his back. He fidgeted, his back cracking painfully.
“Does – that – hurt – hanyou?” she asked, spacing each word when she stamped her foot into his back. “Are we equal now?”
Inuyasha was breathing heavily now as he struggled to get up. He was nodding vigorously and he was now on his throbbing back, scrambling to get away from Kagome. His hand hit something as he was inching back and he picked up his sword that had been flung. He raised it, but it would not transform. He shook it, willing it to transform, but it did not.
“Why won’t you transform, damn it!” he yelled at the sword, trying desperately to get away from the approaching Kagome. “Sesshoumaru! Get this bitch away from me! Th-this isn’t Kagome!”
Sesshoumaru, who had been watching Kagome torture Inuyasha, just smirked. “Silly hanyou, I assure you that WAS Kagome. This, this creation in front of you is none other than that ‘Kagome’.”
Inuyasha’s eyes widened and he looked perplexed. He watched in horror as Kagome was again extending a fingernail and advancing towards him. As she was about to dive her nail into his throat, he leapt from where he was and was again in a defensive mode.
“Call her off!” yelled Inuyasha, backing away to the edge, away from Kagome.
“Now, why would I want to do that, hanyou? Do you not think that this is fun?” asked Sesshoumaru in an amused way.
“What have you done to her!” yelled Inuyasha, again defending himself from Kagome’s attacks. He slid more and more away, away towards the edge.
His sword, the Tetsusaiga, was cracking threateningly now, slight electric twitches emitting from it.
The hanyou tried desperately to get through Kagome. “Kagome! Its me, Inuyasha! I wasn’t always like that in those memories! Believe me!”
Kagome was still seeing red, the anger pumping loudly in her ears. “Believe you, a lying, no-good, twit of a hanyou? Never!” She flung him from her, making him crash into a small stonewall. He crumpled to the ground and moaned loudly.
He lay face down, his nose in the dirt as Kagome approached. He opened his eye slowly and saw her squatting down, looking at him in the eyes. Her eyes sparkled with mischief as she looked into his eyes.
“Ah, I remember now the punishment I could give you. One word,” she said. Inuyasha’s eyes bugget ant and he struggled to get up. He looked pleadingly into her eyes as she whispered slowly, her lips upturned in pleasure, “sit.”
A force around Inuyasha’s neck pulled hard and jerked him down into the earth. He spat out dirt and he looked into Kagome’s cold yet mischievous eyes, looking for anything that might help him. He found no weakness, only amusement.
“Please,” he whispered, his eyes sparkling with tears.
A sharp jab at Kagome’s heart made her wince in pain. Her eyes softened as she looking into his amber ones, his eyes forming tears. Her nose was over powered by his emotions that he was emitting. Sadness, fear, anguish, regret, all coming from him.
She stood up suddenly and backed away, shaking her head. “No,” she whispered. “In-Inuyasha…But with Kikyo…Too…much…Need…away…” She backed away and backed into Sesshoumaru. She turned around and looked into his cold, amber eyes.
“You have been given too much memory back. He must be gone. Do it,” he said, his voice utterly cold that it almost made Kagome shudder. She turned back to Inuyasha and watched him as he struggled to get up.
Sesshoumaru watched Kagome the whole time. Her emotions hit his nose and he looked at her closely. Her eyes held confusion, anger stuffed in the back, and…sorrow? He leaned down to whisper in her ear.
“Destroy him. He has nothing but cause you pain. Do it or I will do it for you.”
She whirled around, her hair rippling in the breeze. She looked into his amber eyes as they searched her own. She paused and thought of her own emotions she was feeling at the moment. Confusion weighed heavily on her, anger seemed to be subsided, and why was she feeling this sorrow? She shook her head as to clear it and recalled the memories of her crying, yelling matches with him, of her throwing things at him, him reminding her constantly referring to her that he wished she were Kikyo…Kikyo?
Her eyes snapped open, the anger fully raging again. He had always preferred that clay bitch to her! Just because she LOOKED like her? The two acted totally differently, but she remembered that he always referred to her as Kikyo. That definitely flared her anger twice the limit.
She was seething with anger as she again approached him, a refueled anger in her eyes. She stopped about five feet from where he was getting up and her anger throbbed again. This was the beast that tormented her soul with his idiot antics. This was the hanyou that stunk up the air with his tears and mere existence. Oh, how she despised him right now.
She squatted down again, resisting the urge to grab his face and crush the bone, and held her palm to his face. He stared at it dumbly and looked at her face. Her brow was done in dislike and concentration and her teeth were clenched. He looked back at her palm and saw that energy was gathering in her palm. His eyes widened as he tried to scramble up and out of the way, but it was too late. With a thrust of her arm, the energy was released in his face and exploded, sending him flying into the air, far, far away from them. He shot off through the air and disappeared over the horizon as she stood up.
She stared off into the horizon and watched as the sun rose high into the air. Her brow was still ceased as she turned around. She almost ran into Sesshoumaru and looked into his eyes. They held anger. Anger at her.
“What?” she asked.
“You did not kill him. Explain yourself,” he told her, his jaw clenched.
“Simple. I thought if I killed him, there would be no one to torment as I have been tormented. He’ll come back, I know it.” She stretched and looked at him, an eyebrow raised. “Anything else you would like to know, your Highness?”
He turned around and headed toward the shed. He opened the door and closed it behind him. She stood there, waiting for him, her arms crossed. Minutes later, he opened the door and strode towards her, two sheaths in his hand. He held them out to her and stood there silently, watching her face.
She looked down at the sheaths. Then she looked back at him, a quizzical look on her face. “What do you want me to do with them?”
“For starters, hold them,” he said, impatience bordering his voice.
She took both of them into her hands and held one in each hand. She looked at him, a dull look on her face. “Okay, all they’re doing right now is making me look like an idiot. Now what?”
He rolled his eyes and just looked at her. “Think of a weapon.”
“Think of a weapon,” she repeated. She exhaled, her bangs ruffling. She looked at him. He nodded. She rolled her eyes and then closed them, thinking of…katanas. The sheaths immediately weighed down and Kagome caught them before they fell. She looked at the opening of the sheaths and saw two hilts. She tucked one sheath under her arm and held the other in front of her. With careful hands, she unsheathed it and found a double-bladed katana. On the blade itself, it had a phoenix carved into the metal.
She looked at Sesshoumaru with a silly grin on her face. She looked at the blade again and sheathed it. “Welshe she said. “Is a katana all it can transform into?”
“No, Woman,” he said, shaking his head. “It transforms into any sword or weapon you can think of. Think of it as a gift.” With that, he turned and walked towards the door. There, he paused. He turned around and addressed Kagome.
“Learn to use them,” was all he said. He walked through the doors, leaving her alone, making the sheaths hold scimitars, sabers, heavy swords, and machetes.
