Chapter Two: Of Demons and Humans
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Looking through the canopy of leaves at the sky, Xol silently thinks.
'I wonder where I am. I don't believe I'm in Tokyo anymore. Could it be possible that I skipped over into another plain of exsistance? Or maybe I just --'
Her thoughts were inturrupted by a snap of a twig laying on the forest floor. Swinging around behind her, she comes face to face with a creature she had never even fanthomed existed.
A youkai.
Stepping backwards hastily, she stares at the thing. "What -- What are you?!"
And indeed, the creature was hideous. Its distorted face was twisted and ikin kin was a pale shade of green. Eyes the color of the darkest clouds were filled with lust. Xol felt repulsed immiediatly, yet was somehow frozen in her stance upon making eye contact. That was when she realized the thing resembled a snake. Its long tail began at the torso, andwas a good twenty feet long. Wrapping the bottom half itself around its soon-to-be-prey, it hissed.
"You act as though you've never seen a demon," the creature's s's were drawled out as it spoke. Breaking eye contact, Xol felt her body return to normal. Twisting viscously, she pounds her fists on its tail. She closes her eyes out of fustration.
"No! I haven't! Now let me go, you filthy scumbag!" She truly didn't believe it would follow her orders, but when she felt the snake's tail easing up its grip, she stopped hitting it. Feeling something wet spray against her cheek, she opens her eyes.
The scene to greet her almost made her sick then and there. The snake's head had been ripped off, thus causing blood to go everywhere. Picking her hand up, she places it on her wet cheek, not knowing she was smearing the subsance on her face. Blood was on her fingertips when she pulled her hand back. Shuddering, she looks around as the dead creature's tail finally gave up on its grip.
Spotting her savior, her brows furrow. Xol suddenly wasn't very sure if this one ment to harm her or aid her. After all, she doubted he would have gone through the trouble to kill her after just saving her, or would he?
Taking a step back from haunting amber eyes, she gets a better look. Long silver hair fell down to his waist, and his clothing was very strange, yet familiar to her at the same time. A cresent moon was on his forehead, and two purple stripes adorned one of his cheeks. And the oddest thing? He had a bushy object attached to his shoulder. Confusion showed clear through her fire colored orbs.
"Who are you?"
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Sesshoumaru was on his way back to his castle in the western lands when he had come upon a young girl wondering aimlessly in the forest. He had just come from a meeting with his half-brother and his friends about thier alliance. All was going well on his side. Although, he had to admit it was getting tiring fighting away Naraku's petty incarenets. Turning back to the lonely figure, he got a good look at her. Her hair was like rays of the sun meeting the brown soil of earth. In other words, the colors varied. Dressed on her slight figure was a very small shirt that revealed part of her lower back, and tightly clinging pants. His curiousity flared. What woman -- let aloneman*man* woman -- wandered in the forest, alone? Especially dressed as she was.
It wasn't very often the taiyoukai found himself attracted to the opposite gender. And he refused to believe he was, yet a devilish voice in the back of his mind taunted him.
'You do like her. In fact, you think she's beautiful. Who's ever seen such exotic hair color? Even if you've yet to seen her face, you know very well she'll be haunting you dreams.'
Sesshoumaru almost growled in annoyance. Hadn't he gotten rid of the insolent voice centuries ago? Closing his eyes to clear his head, he heard the breaking of a tree limb, and an almost inaudible gasp. Opening his eyes, he found he did not in the least like the scene played out before him.
"What -- What are you?!" The woman cried. Sesshoumaru then got a good look at her front side and nearly dropped his jaw. Cristilline firey orbs burned with rage and a slight bit of fear. Delicately curved eyebrows were lowered, and her soft pink lips were set in almost a pout.
"You act as though you've never seen a demon," the revolting creature who had captured the holder of his curiousity hissed out. Sesshoumaru couldn't help but feel a sudden rage and hatred towards the hideous fiend. He stepped forward menecingly.
"No! I haven't! Now let me go, you filthy scumbag!" Her next words stopped him. 'Who has lived in this era, and yet never seen a youkai?' His eyes narrowed as he charged the beast and pulled out his sword. Giving a clean cut, the lowly youks hes head fell rolling to the ground. Sesshoumaru was about to degrade the girl about running around in the forest alone when he turned to meet her staring at him. The intesnsity of her red and orange gaze astounded him. Yet he hid that well with his stoic composure. About to ask her to state the reason she had been traveling, her question intrupted him.
"Who are you?"
He almost frowned at that. Almost everyone, human particularly, knew who the Lord of the Western Lands was. Sesshoumaru stepped forward into the clearing, and out of the shadows.
"I am Sesshoumaru, Lord of the Western Lands. Having answered your question, answer mine. What is your business traveling alone in this forest?"
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Xol felt most uneasy as the western lord stepped into the light. He was unnaturally handsome. Shifting on her feet, she listens as he answers her.
"I am Sesshoumaru, Lord of the Western Lands. Having answered your question, answer mine. What is your business traveling alone in this forest?" Unbenownst to this Seshoumaru, his voice had unwanted affects on her. Shaking her head solmenly, she looks directly at him. She felt no fear, only aprehension.
"Truth be told, I do not know. I have no clue as to where I am. Would you mind helping me?"
Sesshoumaru had to give the girl credit for courage. Not many could face him and not tremble with fear. Usually this behavior would not be to his satisfaction. He found he rather liked it when the lowly did cower. Or rather, liked. After Rin had come along, he had slightly changed. His delicate eyebrows rose at her answer.
"You are here, and yet you know not where or why? Tell me, why should I help you again?"
Xol furrowed her eyebrows. Questions, questions, questions! She was tiring of this tirade. Shaking her head, she sends her locks of curls swinging lightly behind her.
"I honestly do not know where I am. If you aren't going to , I\, I'll be on my way," she adds silently, 'Whichever way that may be.' "But if you do decide to be of my aid, please drop the formalities. By the way, my name is Xolairous."
Again, Sesshoumaru was surprised by this strange female. 'Xolairous? What a strange name,' he thought to himself. He kept quiet in thought for a few moments.
"Since you aren't saying anything, I'll --" Xol was interrupted by the lords silken voice.
"There is a village not to far from here. I will help you get there, but once on the edge of this forest, consider yourself on your own."
She blinked a few times, for she was almost sure he was about to leave her. Suddenly, she smiles brightly. Sesshoumaru found his breath hitched as she did so. Where once beauty lay, it was transformed into almost godly features. He felt his desire grow. Mentally shaking it off, he listens as she speaks.
"Thank you, Sesshoumaru-sama. I am very grateful of your aid. Shall we go then?" She turned her back on him and looked over her shoulder.
Sesshoumaru found her very enticing as he began to walk towards the village he had just come from. She would indeed be haunting his dreams, and most likely his thoughts as well.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
Rion: Yay! Another chappie! ^-^;; And that's that. I'm sorry if Sesshoumaru is a bit ooc, but please give me a break! Interesting things are about to happen! *insert evil music* MUHAHAHAHA
Xol: ¬.¬;; Calm down, Rion. We don't want you to kill over. (Yeah right!)
Rion: . . . Can't you just love me? ;_;
Xol & Sesshoumaru: No.
Rion: *cries and runs away*
