Pain of the Half-Breeds
2: Pain of the Half-Breeds.
“Damn,” the she-hanyou sobbed as she punched the earth, sending waves of dirt into the air, extinguishing the fires. “Why me? WHY ME?!” The hanyou was on her feet screaming at the sky, tears continued down her cheeks as she kicked at the ground.
“Are you okay now?” Kagome asked, placing a hand on the hanyou’s shoulder, the female flinched and pulled away, rubbing her shoulder as if she was burned.
“I’ll never be okay, not until I find a way to become a full demon,” she sighed, obviously miserable. The whole group could see the resemblance between this young female and their great ‘leader’.
“Why do you want to be a demon so badly? Why not a human?” Sango asked, the half-demoness’ head shot up and she seemed to glare at Sango.
“Why would I want to?! What have the humans ever done for me? Hunt me! Attack me! Try to kill me! Humans are the cause of all my sorrows, if I become a demon I won’t ever have to worry about worthless humans again!” she snapped, her eyes were filled with pain as she looked at Inu Yasha. “You know of what I speak. You’re hanyou too. The only hanyou I’ve ever met like myself. You know of the pain and rejection!” Inu Yasha’s eyes dropped and his ears as well. The others were shocked as he nodded and let out a low growl. The female returned it and the two were suddenly snarling, growling, and barking back and forth.
“Shippo, do you understand them?” Miroku asked and the young fox looked like he was concentrating.
“It’s really different from kitsune tongue, but some of the words are the same,” he said as he looked at the three humans.
“What are they saying ShippKagoKagome asked as she held the fox kit.
“I don’t know exactly, but I think it has to do with the way they were treated as pups,” he said and suddenly there was a slap and Sango and Miroku looked at each other as if expecting it from themselves.
“How can you say that?!” the she-hanyou sobbed and their attention fell on her as Inu Yasha covered his right cheek. “Humans are the reason I’m alone! Humans killed my brothers! Humans attack me no matter where I go! And humans cause me to loose myself to the demon rage! How can you stand there and tell me that humans are good and pure!” There were tears running down her cheeks as her eyes began to flash red. “They’re the monsters! They’re the beasts!” Suddenly the jewel in her head began to glow with the light of Kagome’s miko energy and she cried out before falling to her knees.
“Are you okay?” Sango asked as she approached the hanyou.
“I…I was getting furious…I was…I was about to change…the…the shard stopped me!” was the dazed reply. “The shard in my head prevented me from loosing myself in the demon rage.”
“Well, that’s a relief,” Kagome said as she smiled at the hanyou. “So, want to give us humans another shot? Maybe even lend a hand with burying the dead?” The hanyou looked at her a moment before absently rubbing her hand over the shard in her skull.
“I…I suppose I should, seeing as I caused this,” she looked a bit guilty as she looked at a dead child not far off.

“I think I’ve had enough human blood for the rest of my life,” the she-hanyou sighed as she fell to the ground by the fire Sango and Kagome had started.
“Hopefully you have,” Inu Yasha sighed as he plopped down near her, keeping himself between her and Kagome.
“Here you go,” Kagome said as she handed the two hanyou bowls of ramen. The she-hanyou sniffed and licked her lips before she grabbed the chopsticks and awkwardly began to eat, quickly finishing at the same time as Inu Yasha.
“That was wonderful!” she stated as she licked out the bowl.
“Thanks,” Kagome said before looking at the hanyou. “So do you want to tell us your name now?” The hanyou stopped for a moment and her ears went down a bit. “Are you okay? I didn’t offend you did I?” Inu Yasha shook his head, only Kagome would apologize for hurting a demon’s feelings.
“I…I haven’t had anyone ask me for my name in a long time…that’s all,” the hanyou said as she looked up at Kagome with tears in her eyes. “I’ve gone by ‘monster’, ‘hanyou’, ‘bitch’, ‘demon’, and ‘wench’ for so long…I’ve almost forgotten my own name.” She sniffled. “The name my father gave me.”
“Well?” Inu Yasha asked as he looked at her. “What is it?”
“Meishou,” she whispered looking down and Kagome smiled as she grabbed Meishou’s clawed hands.
“Well Meishou, we’re glad to have you joining us, feel free to tag along,” Kagome said with a sweet smile and Shippo hopped up onto her shoulder before hugging her and greeting her to the group as well.
