Sandra's Mysterious Power
Chapter Three: Sa's M's Mysterious Powers
Sandra awoke the next morning early, upon comming out of the hut she was greeted almost immediatly by Miroku who still hadn't managed to wipe the boyish grin off his face.
"Good morning Sandra-chan!" He said cheerfully. "Did you sleep well?"
"Yes actually, thank you very much Houshi-samma" she replied.
"And your Crystal?" Sandra sighed, and looked down and the crystal.
"The core is still clouded" she said.
"Cheer up," Miroku said, brus a l a lock of blue hair gently from her face. "You will be able to get back to your time, I am sure of it."
Sandra smiled ly aly at the hansome priest.
"Thank you for your concern, but you shouldn't worry about it, really...."
"Hey Sandra!" It was Inuyasha.
"Oh, Inuyasha, how are you this morning?"
"Neverming that." he said. "Is your Crystal blue yet?"
"I'm afraid it needs more time, I'm sorry."
"DAMN! How much longer?"
"I can't say.... another day or so? But that doesn't mean I cant still help, I've been thinking and I am almost positive the reason I failed yesterday was because the shikon shards must have somehow re-enforced the mystic energy therefore neautralizing my summon."
"Which means what?"
"Well, basically, all I need to do is gather a few things to anoint my crystal and I will be able to neutralize the waves or re-enforced energy. But Gathering them could take some time..."
"Well, just leave that to me" Inuyasha said.
"I couldn't ask you to do that!" Sandra said. "It's very Dangerous....." Inuyasha just laughed.
"Like you could go by yourself...what if you get attacked by a pack of demons? Forget it I'll go with you. If you're any friend of Kagome's you'll undoubtably run into trouble and need saving "
"Inuyasha" Sandra said. "Thank you."
"Whatever.... don't mention it."
"By the way what exactly do you need?"
"Well, all the items are rather simple..... Agrimonmy.....nightshade.......mugwort.......vervain...you know, your basics, however the bones of a Nyad and the blood of Harpy may prove difficult to get."
"Whatever, I can handle those kinds of lowlife easily."
"Okay then let's go."
It was late afternoon by the time Inuyasha and Sandra reached the mountain base, Inuyasha had cleaverly sniffed out a small Harpy's nest, upon reaching the base of the mountain he stopped.
"What is it?" Sandra said.
"The mountain looks steep, you should stay here, you're too slow to follow me." He was surprised was Sandra burst out laughing.
"Just try to keep up with me," she said playfully. And began to run and jump up the mountains steep side with youki speed and agility.
"Damn," Inuyasha said to himself, "This might be more exciting than I thought" and speedily hurried after her. Before long they could see the nest of the ridge side of the mountain. Sandra slowed to a stop just feet from the nest, Inuyasha was close behind.
"Okay," she whispered in his ear. "The mother harpy has left so to get her to comeback you have to make a distraction..."
"What? why me?"
"Because you said you could handle them.... besides someone has to sneak up and kill the damn thing"
"oh alright......." Inuyasha signed, and made his way over to the nest. "Hey!" he called back, "How am I supposed to get her to come back?"
"Break the Harpy egg with your sword!"
"Okay" Inuyasha hesitated, but drew his sword and with one swing sliced the thick leathery shell in half. "HOLY FUCK! This shit stinks!" he said. But Sandra didn't hear him over the ear shattering shriek of the mother harpy as she swooped at Inuyasha.
The was a bright flash and a loud crack as the Harpys head was struck by a blue bolt causing it to explode, raining dark blood and fleash all over Inuyasha and Sandra.
"Damn," Sandra said as she wipe a smear of blood from her cheek. "That was too easy..." She removed a glass vile from her between her breasts and collected the blood from the smoking, decapitated corpse. "One down....." she smiled.
The wind blew calmly as they approcached the Youkai graveyard, it was twilight. Sandra was tired and sweaty, and Inuyasha's patience was running thin.
"So, tell me again," he asked. "What's a Nyad?"
"Shhhhhhhhh..........." she whispered. "N was was earth elemental youkai....so even after their bodys rot and decay, they continue to live." She paused as the wind suddenly died. "Here it comes..... feel it?" Inuyasha noded, he felt something and the stench of rot and death was almost overpowering. Suddenly the bones around them began to rattle, softly at first, but the rattling because shaking was the formed huge winged yokai.
"That's a Nyad....." Sandra exclained as half a dozen of them screeched towards them.
"IRON REAVER SOUL STEALER!" Inuyasha made quick work of the first 3, but quickly backed off when he heard Sandra yell,
"Go for the head, Inuyasha! Or else their wont be any bones left for me to take....."
Now she reminds me........... Inuyasha drew his blade and quickly lept back into action.
It was dark by the time Inuyasha and Sandra stopped in a clearing to rest. It had taken all day, but they had gotten the blood and bones they needed. Sandra sighed as she sat on the ground to rest, Inuyasha sat next to her.
"Tomorrow Sango should return, you should be able to get your herbs from her." he found himself explaining to her. "Then you will be able to break the barrier down?" Sandra nodded and looked up at the full moon above them. She sighed again and took a small flask from her poket.
"I think we earned this." she said as she took a rather big drink. "Here." She handed the small flask to Inuyasha.
"What is it?"
"Whiskey. Just go easy, kay?"
Inuyasha shurgged and took a drink. He and Sandra passed it between them, talking ever so often. Inuyasha even made Sandra laugh a few times. However after a few minutes Inuyasha found himself staring at her again. She even looked hot covered in dried blood, he thought.
"Well, are you ready to rejoin Miroku?" she said as she tipsily rose to her feet and giggled.
"So much for taking it easy." she said. Inuyasha looked at her.
"Are you drunk?"
"No." Sandra said, trying to give him her best "I am NOT drunk Officer" look. Inuyasha laughed to himself and stood. Walking over to Sandra he put his hand on her shoulder and gave a slight push. Sandra stummbled back onto the ground.
"HEY, what the fuck was that for?!"
"Not drunk, eh?" He chuckled as the girl glared up at him. "Stop pouting, I didn't even push you that hard. Now, c'mon, or else the others will think we got killed or something." Sandra nodded and picked herself off the ground.
"So, your not drunk, Inuyasha?"
"No, not really."
"Okay, if you say so, but camp is the other way."
"What? Really? I knew that."
Sandra laughed so hard she almost fell again.
Back at the camp Sandra immediatly headed for the hot springs leaving Miroku and Inuyasha to find and perpare a late dinner. Although she was tempted to invthe the monk to bathe with her, she knew that this was her time to medatate, clearing her mind and focus all her ki into purifying her crystal. She sighed as she relaxed, letting the water wash all over her body and bloodstained hair. Back at the camp Miroku did his best to scrub the blood out of Inuyasha's platinum locks, but with no avail. Dinner had been silent except for the scarffing and gobbling sounds that came from Inuyasha's mouth as he inhailed the ramen Kagome had left for him.
"Sorry Inuyasha..." the monk sighed..."It's not comming out, you'll just have to take a bath..."
"What? Not now, Sandra's still down there....."
"So?"
"So? What do you mean so? He snapped. "I can't just go down there." Miroku sighed.
"Well, you need a bath, you smell like whiskey and blood, besides all you have to do is go down there, I know you're curious, I've seen you looking at her."
Inuyasha felt his cheeks redden, had he really been THAT obvious?
'I don't know what you're talking about..." He said. But just then they heard the sound of footsteps, Sandra had returned.
"Inuyasha," she said. "It's your turn." Noticing how both of them had suddenly stopped talking, she giggled nervously. "I think I am going to head in for the night." Miroku nodded to her, and Inuyasha just looked at the ground. Sandra smiled and waved before walking back to her hut.
