Down The Well

Heres the next chapter. I hope you enjoy. If anyone has any ideas please feel free. So far I'm going for pairing between Sessho/Sonya. But I'm up for any suggestions. Please read and review.

Sonya opened up the door. She turned to make sure no one was observing her actions. "Coast clear," she stepped inside. " Wow its kind of spooky in here." She tried to take in the what little her eyes could see. There was nothing inside except an old well. "Its a well house. Kind of reaks in here.
Hmmm... whats this a ladder?" She fingered the rope ladder leading to the inside of the well. Why would they have a ladder inside an empty well. Maybe theres a secret room down there. Well only one way to find out." She made sure she didnt hear anyone outside."Here goes nothing." She flung her leg over the edge. She made sure her bag was securely flung over her shoulder. Navagating down the ladder in her boots was something of a challenge. She sighed in relief when she thought she saw the bottom. She let go of the ladder and dropped.

Meanwhile, Kagome sat around the fire with Sango, Miroku, Shippo and Kirara. Inuyasha had once again gone after Kikyo. "How long do you think he'll be gone this time?" She sighed again. Why do I keep doing this to myself. Everytime something happens he rushes to her. When am I going to accept the fact that hes chosen her. I know he cares for me but he will never forget her. She will always have that place in his heart that I could only wish to occupy. But I still want to be with him.
Kagome looked over towards the woods where Inuyasha had left through earlier.

"Don't worry, Kagome. I'm sure he will return shortly." Sango tried to comfort her friend. She could only imagine how Kagome felt at that moment. Everytime Inuyasha ran into Kikyo hed run off leaving Kagome without regard for her feelings. "Do you wanna talk about it Kagome?"

"No, I'm fine." she smiled at the group. "I'm okay promise. Just worried thats all. Now that we know that Naraku is once again after Kikyo's life Inuyasha will do everything to protect her. He has no regard for his own safety when it comes to her." She sighed again. Shippo crawled into her lap.

"Then we must do everything in our power to make sure Inuyasha doesn't do anything reckless or foolish." Miroku stated. "We all know how he is when it comes to Kikyo. We will all have to be on our guard." He was thoughtful for a moment. "We all heard Naraku say during the last battle that the shard was the last. Which means we and Kouga possess the remaining few that Naraku himself does not. So we can rest assured that Naraku will soon come for ours and Kougas. We also know that Naraku fears Kikyo. Which is why he wants to end her life so badly."

Kagome watched as Miroku took the opportunity to inch closer to Sango. I wonder what I'll do when this is all over. Once the jewel is complete and Naraku has been defeated. What if Inuyasha still wants to go to hell with Kikyo. Will I be able to just walk away? Her thoughts were interupted by a scream. "PERVERT!!"

Miroku was laying on his side rubbing the side of his face. "It was an accident."

"Spare me the lies," Sango took up the position opposite Miroku. "Maybe we should go ahead and try to get some sleep."

Kagome scooped Shippo up and climbed into her sleeping bag. She waited for the others to doze off but sleep eluded her. Her thoughts were in turmoil. What am I going to do. Should I try to change his mind? Or do I just watch him through his life away to join Kikyo? And what was this sensation she was feeling? Hopelessness? Despair? Wait it was a jewel shard. "Sango, Miroku, wake up." She jumped out of her bag. "Wake up."

"What is it Kagome," Sango rose. "Is something wrong?"

"Im not sure. But I'm pretty sure I just felt the presence of a jewel shard." She focused on the direction where she was sure she had sensed it. "Its very slight but I'm sure its there.
I'm sure its going from the direction of the village."

"Are you sure Kagome. How can that be possible. If we have the remaining shards besides Naraku then that would only leave Kouga. Maybe we should wait for Inuyasha to return. More than likely it is one of Narakus demons." Miroku grabbed his staff.

"But who knows when Inuyasha will return. We should go check it out." Sango grabbed her boomerang. "And if it is Naraku we cant just wait. Whatever he is up to we have to stop it." Maybe, its Kohaku, she thought. If it is Kohaku I have to know what he is doing?

Sango and Miroku climbed on Kirara while Kagome took off on her bike towards the direction of the jewel shard.

Sonya woke too find herself sprawled at the bottom of the well. "Isnt this just peachy. I must of misjudged the distance to the bottom. Great now I'm stuck in a well. From the looks of it its already turned night." She looked up to see stars twinkling down her. "What the fuck! What happened to the roof? She searched the ground for her purse. She brought the bag into her lap. She withdrew a cigerette and lit the tip. She inhaled deeply. She tried to figured out what happened. "OK, I was climbing down the ladder which I dont see anymore. I jumped because I saw the bottom. Dammit, I know I saw the bottom. Then I woke up here. It is obviously the same well. But now the roof is gone and so is the ladder. I could always climb up and see what greets me. And fuck it all I'm talking to myself." She searched the well for a means to climb up. "Ahh some vines. Great I'm doing it again."
She slowly made her way up the side of the well trying not to drop her cigerette on the way.

She reached the top of the well. "About fuckin time," she threw her legs over the side. "Almost there." She sat on the edge. "Where am I. Wheres the bloody shrine?" She looked all around her. The well was in a clearing but then there was nothing but trees. If she wasnt in this situation she would have admired the beauty of the forest. She could hear crickets chirping and somewhere in the distance she heard an owl hoot. "Holy shit, I must of hit my head on the way down. Or that roach I smoked this morning is finally taking effect." She stood up and turned around. Come on think girl, she put her head in her hands. I've got to be near that shrine. It couldn't have just disappeared.
Maybe I should walk and try to find someone. Yeah I think I'll see if I can find a house or town. Something! She stomped on what was left of her smoke and took off not knowing where she was headed.
