The Races

Chapter 29

The star sparkled as every one loaded into cars to head out the street race for the night. Sesshoumaru and Kagome both were dressed to match, as if the scent and mating marks were not enough to let every living being around them know that they belonged to one another.

Black and red were the new colors adopted by Sesshoumaru. Kagome have worn those colors as her own for so long that it would be pointless to make her try and change them now. So he did what any man in love would do and changed for her. His colors however were still silver and black but for the night he could change it up a little.

Being away for a couple or races had affected no one except Inuyasha. Being in the first level and then missing the races he was moved down and now he and Kagome were now in the second level competing for the chance to move up and challenge Sesshoumaru.

Naturally this pissed the loud mouth Hanyou off a considerable amount. Of course the one to break the news to him was Naraku. How fortunate for him. As expected, Inuyasha pitched a fit.

“God Damn it all to hell!” He screamed before turning on to Kagome. “Just because you’re fucking my brother, you’re a girl, and now my sister doesn’t mean that I’m going to go easy on your sorry ass!”

The warmth that once inhabited Kagomes’ eyes was flushed cold as she turned her now emotionless stare onto Inuyasha. “You may think that I will need your help defeating you, but think again ‘Brother’,” She said in a condescending tone. “I never needed nor will I ever need favors from you in order to beat your sorry ass. I rely on skill, unlike you who works with sheer dumb luck and reckless driving, to get me in first place when it comes to crossing that finish line. So bring your best Inuyasha for I intend to bring mine” Her hair flipped over her shoulder as she spun away from the group and walked away towards her car.

Sesshoumaru was the next to lay into Inuyasha. “Your insolence and rude mouth have just bought you a ticket to her shit list, Half-Breed. I hope you are pleased with yourself, and may the gods have mercy on you for I know she will not.” Then he too walked away from the group and after his mate.

Shippo, kouga, and Souta soon followed. Kikyo was the only one left to stand by his side and even she scowled him, just more gently than the other two. “You shouldn’t be so mean all the time love.”

Inuyasha just huffed, “Feh.” In a very Inuyasha way and walled towards his car. Of course not really mad at his she shuffled after him.

Words of good luck were exchanged and Shippo stood beside his sisters’ car leaning in the window. “Don’t worry about him he’s an ass and I know you can beat him. I have seen him race. He has nothing over you what so ever so you do what you have to do to bring that arrogant asshole down.”

Kagome looked at Shippo and smiled. “Thanks.” Her smile returning to the warm welcoming grin that he had always known and enjoyed, Kouga, Souta, and Naraku were the next ones to offer similar words before her race. She smiled to each of them and began to focus as she pulled her car along side of the other drivers for this race.

Inuyasha of course took his place on one side of her. He looked over and all he got was an icy glare accompanied by a cold smirk before her window was rolled up. The look sent a shiver down his back. One that you just knew wasn’t going to bode very well.

The race mistresses stepped forward onto the track and raise her arms. The silence of the crowd grew tense and she waited a couple of second just listening to the car engines. Her arms barely lowered before the race was already launched into motion.

Being farther away from the city the road had more gravel and dirt. The race path was meant to challenge the racers the most this night. Kagome however came from the U.S.A. where dirt road races were nothing for her. She watched in her rear view window as two car spun out and deposited themselves into the high grasses along the track.

Inuyasha however was still hanging on, but only just. Being a spoiled pampered city rich kid the opportunity to drive on such roads were far and few in between. His steering wheel shook and the bumps were hard on his behind. He grumbled and bitched the whole way.
The bends and sharp turns were killer on his car.

Kagome however rode it out. Her car easily glided across the gravel and dirt, a sight to behold if given the chance. The last turn however, was the sharpest of all and meant to challenge the last few who made it this far.

She smirked as she hit her brake and cut the wheel easily cutting the corner and making the bend neatly.

Inuyasha huffed and thought he was a smart ass and attempted to just turn. Slowly and carefully, what he had not thought would happen was the other two car to fly by him as he did so. Both taking the bend very sloppily and almost wrecking again. He swore as he sped around the bend coming in at third.

Kagome of course won and as she was driving by Naraku’s car she noticed Yura getting up from the ground by it and dusting her self off and walking away.

She shrugged her shoulders and continued to her friends. However her stomach clenched up and she knew that tonight something would happen.

The first to great her was her number one fan, Shippo. He laughed and spoke loudly proclaiming that she was the best driver and that she smoked Inuyasha with out missing a beat. She received Congratulations all around for beating one of the Tashio brothers.

Sesshoumaru came last, as the other moved to make way for him. He leaned down and kissed her breathless. She released a tiny whimper when he pulled
away from her lips. His self righteous and arrogant smirk made her blush deeply.

Inuyasha was not to be forgotten however. He walked right up in a huff and started bitching about how she was a cheater and that he wanted a re-match. Kagome however turned on him coldly once more.

“You will get nothing until you stop being a whiner and a cry baby. You’re such a terrible loser. No wonder Sesshoumaru picks on you, and your friends left you. You’re a jerk who needs to pull his head out of his ass and realize just like his brother does. THE WORLD DOESN”T REVOLVE AROUND YOU! Got that? I don’t owe you any thing and I won fair and square it’s not my fault that you can’t drive as well and you spout your mouth off!” She yelled right back at him.

She was tired of the sore losers coming back and accusing her of cheating because she, a female, was better than them.

His puppy ears flattened to his head and he pouted in shocked silence that sweet innocent Kagome had just put him in his place. However the scowl on his brother’s face almost made it worth it… Almost.

Every person with in range that had demonic hearing now had a ring to their ear due to her out burst. Those that had some sort of issue with Inuyasha let out snickers because a small female just but him in his place and it was humor filled because he was shocked into silence and didn’t even come back with one of his normal stupid phrases.

Soon the excitement died down as the track was reset for the last race with Sesshoumaru and Naraku. Kagome smiled as Sesshoumaru leaned in for a good luck kiss and Naraku just smirked and walked away.

With all that happened Kagome didn’t get a chance to tell Naraku that she had seen Yura messing with his car. She just hoped that he would be alright.

The cars lined up next to one another. Over the time that they were gone, it would seem that Bankostu had taken the champion spot. So every one wanted to watch and see if Sesshoumaru had lost his touch and if Bank would be the new undefeated champ.

The fact that Sesshoumaru’s car was far faster and better maintained was unknown to those who had lost their faith in Sesshoumaru. Kagome however believe that Sesshoumaru had this race in the bag.

This track was longer than the one she had served Inuyasha his defeat on, however it was just as hard and had more sharp trick turns like her. She worried for him until she watched him to the first one with the same amount of finesse that she did. She scowled herself for being so lame and not having faith in him.

Sesshoumaru as she predicted was a head by a lot and Naraku and Bankostu were neck and neck until the cars hit what looked to be about 125mph when suddenly Naraku’s car exploded.

There was a scream coming from close to their group and they watched the car smoke. It wasn’t until later that Kagome realized that it was her.

She watched as what looked like his body parts scattered all over and mixed with the scraps of metal and car pieces. Souta grabbed his sister and held her and the crowd watched on.

She sobbed into his chest until she heard a gasp from the crowd. Shippo tugged on the back of her shirt.

“Kagome look!” Kagome spun to see the pieces of Naraku twitch and move, the blob like pieces of her cousin began to accumulate and come together in a flesh colored jell-o pile and slowly they watched as Naraku began to reform before their eyes.

First his body, then his limbs and torso came together into a whole body, “Son of a Bitch that hurt!” He exclaimed as a very naked but an alive Naraku formed.

The smoke rose and the police sirens could be heard a long with fire trucks and ambulance. Sesshoumaru grabbed Kagome and gave her keys to Shippo who grabbed Kouga and Souta and they took off while Kikyo and Inuyasha grabbed Naraku.

Sesshoumaru and Kagome drove in silence back to the house when they arrived they saw that every one was already there. The front gate was already open from the other cars. Sesshoumaru gave the orders to close and lock them and to not let any one else in unless authorized.

The front entrance was empty but there were frantic voices and a lot of commotion in the larger of the two family rooms. Naraku was now dressed and sitting with a drink in his hand obviously very shook up from the ordeal.

Inu-No-Tashio and Izyoi were frantic and worried a long with a little confused. Sesshoumaru knew that there was something going on but was in the confused category. Every one else was scared and confused. One of the only two calm ones in the room was quickly losing her patience. The noise level continued to rise and every one continued to shout over everyone else.

Suddenly she snapped, “EVERYONE SHUT UP!” A thick and tense silence covered the room. Kagome now with every ones attention told every one to sit. “As you all know by now Naraku was just blown up in his car. However,” she held up her hand for silence when those who couldn’t be quiet went to jump in. “the reason for the explosion was not due to any fault in his vehicle.” She sighed. “I guess since no one will ever figure it out I might as well tell you all what I know.” She walked over to a window.

“It all started with Tasukie and the female he was having an affair with.” She glanced at Sesshoumaru, “Yura.”
