Saturday?
Beeeepppp….
“Hi, Rin….it’s Hiten. Listen, the office just got invited to the annual masquerade ball for Demon’s Night. Ummm…..it’s Saturday and I was hoping you would go. I know you’re not supposed to be back to work for another week, but I was hoping since you did most of the designs for the bands attending this event that you would go. Umm….call me back once you get this….we miss you here…buh-bye.”
Rin flipped her phone shut, sighing heavily as she pulled her sunglasses down over her gaze, shielding out the bright sun above her. The soft, rippling waves of the sea before her left a small calmness in her, even though this request to attend this event had annoyed her greatly.
She had left work two weeks after the incident with Sesshomaru and his brother. Her mind was warped, cluttered with the severe guilt and pain her stupid choices had brought upon her. Kagome barely talked to her anymore, only speaking briefly for the first few days until the girl finally confronted Rin about it.

“Why did you do it?! I just wanna know why!!” Kagome cried out, stomping her foot upon the ground as she grew frustrated.
Rin closed her eyes, tearing her gaze away from Kagome’s. “I…I really don’t know why. We were drinking….and….it just…..fell together.”
The girl grunted, annoyed with Rin’s answer before she half screamed out her frustration. “RIN!! I trusted you….I trusted you as a friend and you fucked around with him!!”
Rin never looked to Kagome, her heart too ashamed to admit that she should have caught herself before anything happened. “I’m sorry.” Her words were whispered. “I just….Sesshomaru….god…I’m so sorry.”

Rin shifted in her beach chair, her fingers brushing her rebelling ebony strands from her face before she began to gather her belonging, shoving them into her tote bag. Her feet planted to the sand, standing slowly she slung the bag over her shoulder, looking down the stretch of the beach to the groups of people crowded amongst the sand and waves.
She turned on her heel, her fingers pulling the chair from the sand as it folded. One month had passed since she had last had a normal life, but now, she lived day to day, seething in the hatred for herself for falling prey to the men she spoke so harshly about.
Sesshomaru had never left her mind. His memories implanted in her head played over and over in her mind’s eye, like a worn out Gwithwith the Wind reel at a second rate movie theater. Every word they exchanged so clear in her head. “Rin…I could never be done with you.”
Her eyes shut a moment, stopping in her slow pace as she cringed, pushing his voice in the back of her head. Her hand pulled upon the gate latch to the Jeep Wrangler, opening the back of the car. She placed her belongings along the floor, pulling out her keys, cell phone, and cigarettes before closing the hatch.
The warm Caribbean sun beat down upon her bare shoulders, tinging her tanning skin a slight pink. The cool breeze filtered through her strands as she drove down the narrow roads of the island.
Her cell phone rang, buzzing along the passenger seat as she slowed at a stop sign. Fingers reached for the black slim phone flipping it open before she spoke. “Hello?”
“Rin? Oh good….I caught you….it’s Hiten…”
She smirked some, thinking to herself. ‘No shit….who else would call me while I’m in the Caribbean?’ “I know…and yes….I will be going with the office to the masquerade ball.” She flipped the phone close before he could speak again, tossing the phone back onto her passenger seat. “And let’s hope to fucking Christ, Wicked Ways is not in attendance.”
