Love

Taijina closed her eyes as she tried to get her breathing back to normal. A full week of amazing sex with very few pauses far in between, was heaven. Thank Kami for demon stamina. Closing her eyes, she was slowly coming down from her last star seeing orgasm. She felt Sesshomaru pull her to lie across his chest, and she stared down into his red eyes.

“You know we can’t just hide in our room very much longer,” she sighed. Felling his laughter rumble in his chest, she gave him a little glare. “What’s so funny?”

“You said our room,” he chuckled, as he rolled her over onto her back.

“Don’t even think about starting again,” she yawned. “We should be making sure our kids haven’t killed each other.”

“You know if you weren’t so stubborn when we were first mated we could have had a whole month of this,” he told her, growling low as he nuzzled her neck. “We should have the servants move your things back into the other chamber. Then we can spend every night together…”

“Hold on!” Taijina growled, snapping him back to the reality at hand. After all things can never be easy if Taijina was involved. “I never said I was moving back into the connecting room, nor did I say I was going to spend every night with you!”

“After a week of this you still act like I do not matter,” Sesshomaru growled as he got off her. “Why do you do this to us? Tell me what it is I do wrong!”

“I can’t explain,” Taijina replied softly, as she clutched the black silk sheets to her. He smelled her tears. She had turned from him and was softly crying.

“I wish I knew how to make this right,” he murmured as he pulled her to him. “I love you.”

“What did you say?” she gasped as she stiffened against him. The last five hundred years passed as a blur in Sesshomaru’s mind, leaving him with one important piece of information. Since Taijina’s return to the pack, he had never once told her he loved her. Sure, he showed affection, and told her he cared, but never mentioned love.

“Taijina,” he said, his voice was warm and tender as he made her face him. “I love you.”

“I love you too,” she sobbed as she threw her arms around him. She had waited too long for him to utter those three simple words. “When they move my things nothing better get damage.”

“Are you telling me it was that simple,” Sesshomaru sighed, as he tucked a golden strand of hair behind her ear. She looked into his eyes and nodded. “Only you would have made it so complicated that it would span into a struggle lasting over four hundred years.”

“I only said I would move my things back over,” she replied getting out of the bed and stretching her arms over her head. “I said nothing about spending every night in your bed.”

“I wouldn’t expect any less,” Sesshomaru chuckled.

Kagome and Ash sat in the private springs of the western castle, relaxing in the early morning. The steam made it hard to see in the natural rocky pool they both sat in. Ash would send Kagome a knowing look that she knew InuYasha had asked her to be his mate, and Kagome would bubble over with laughter.

“So when is the ceremony?” Ash finally asked, ending their twenty-minuet routine.

“I’m not sure,” she replied dreamily. “He told me he wants to ask mama for my hand properly and something about asking Sesshomaru for the right to claim a mate. Do you know what that is about?”

“Only the Alpha of the pack can approve a mating of a male below him,” Ash replied as she splashed the warm water over her face from her cupped hands. “The females as well. If it is a between pack mating both alpha males must be agreed or one member of the couple could be killed. It is also to insure a male does not mate a female above his station. Demons live so long it is harder to kill traditions, unlike many humans. It is surprising how many no longer practice the old ways.”

“I never dreamed when I first saw InuYasha we would end up this way,” Kagome sighed happily. “Out future is so close. You don’t think Sesshomaru would deny him the right to mate me?”

“If he was he would have forbidden InuYasha from waiting,” Ash snorted, remembering the past five hundred years. “When Hanyous were no longer an oddity many demonesses where lining up to become the mate of the Hanyou the defeated Naraku. You will be the envy of many females. Of course, Sesshomaru will want a huge mating ceremony and feast. It is only right since InuYasha is the brother of the Western Lord and hero of the old days.”

“We wanted to do this on the anniversary of the day I set him free,” Kagome told her as she started to wash her hair. “That is three months away. Hopefully we can pull this off without it looking too thrown together.”

“I’ll make sure to be there,” Ash laughed, as Celina stormed in and tossed her towel to the side before slipping into the water. Her eyes where red and puffy as if she was crying for a long period of time. “Celina, honey, what’s wrong?”

“Nothing,” Celina muttered, as she sat off to the side of the spring collecting her thoughts, her knees pulled up to her chin as she hugged her legs.

“You want me to get your mother?” Ash asked, worried for the younger female, but Celina just shook her head no. “It’s not going to help if you refuse to tell me what is a matter.”

“You want to know so badly,” Celina huffed, slamming her fists into the water in anger. “The Eastern Lord is an ass and I hope he rots in hell!”

“What did Koga do?” Kagome asked, as she looked to the Inu female, who was trying not to cry. Celina sent her a death glare as she reached for her towel and wrapped it around her.

“He called me the wrong name,” Celina growled, as he left, leaving the other two staring at each other.

“Excuse me,” Ash said as she gave Kagome an apologetic smile as she exited the spring. “But I need to attend to this matter.”

“Uncle,” Tasshomaru greeted as InuYasha entered the study, and sat down in a chair.

“My brother still locked in his room,” InuYasha snorted the obvious.

“Actually I’m right behind you,” Sesshomaru replied entering the room. Both InuYasha and Tasshomaru stood and bowed to him. “I see my castle is still in one piece, I’m proud of you son.”

“Thank you father,” Tasshomaru replied, giving another bow, before standing to the side of the desk. Sesshomaru sat down, and started looking over documents as InuYasha reseated himself.

“I came here to ask…” InuYasha started, but stopped when Sesshomaru glared over one of his papers. Ears flattened to his head, he almost lost his nerve, almost. “I want Kagome to be my mate, and I came here to ask permission.”

“She agrees to this pairing?” Sesshomaru casual asked, trying not to look to impressed with his son’s handy work, it would not do well to inflate the boys growing ego.

“Yes,” came the confident reply from InuYasha’s lips. “I asked her last night.”

“Hn.” Sesshomaru grunted as he looked to Tasshomaru. The look in Tasshomaru eyes confirmed that InuYasha spoke the truth. He would half to talk to his son once more about eavesdropping, again. “Then I approve. Tell me when do you plan to have the mating ceremony?”

“In three months time,” he told him, sitting back in his chair, relaxing thinking the hard part was over.

“Too short of a time period, but I guess we will make do,” came the monotone reply from Sesshomaru. “Of course her human family will be there.”

“Of course,” InuYasha replied meekly, as his brother started to explain what would need to be done in three months time. He had the sudden feeling he was in over his head.

Celina, Ash, and Taijina sat in Celina’s room on the bed, quiet after the long talk they had about Celina and Koga. A conclusion had been reached, must to the dismay of Taijina. Celina would leave with Ash for the Americas for two and a half months then return for Kagome and InuYasha’s mating ceremony.

“You will have to face him and your father at some point,” Taijina informed her standing up. “Some loves just weren’t meant to be. Be safe my child.”

“What did she mean by that?” Celina asked once she and Ash had left the palace. They were heading to the airport in Ash’s car, leaving Taijina to explain to her father why she left. Taijina would tell her mate their daughter left for reasons not entirely false, but not the truth.

“That love is an ever constant changing thing,” Ash replied, leaning back in her chair. “Love can last through ages, sometimes it barely lasts a day. Love can grow and it can diminish. Sometimes we hide our love, and sometimes we blurt it out for the world to hear. Love is a tricky thing and we all must learn what love feeds our hearts and which love poisons it. She wants you to make sure your love does not poison your heart and make you bitter. She wants you to have the happiness of love like that shared between Kagome and InuYasha. One love to last through the ages.”

Last A/N: All day at work I couldn't stop thinking of this story, and a sequal has popped into my mind. It is still unknown to myself if I will choose to write this sequal. It is still funny how the chracters stick with you even at the end.
