Alone...
Rin stumbled through the lobby of her apartment building, dragging her luggage bag behind her as she made her way to the elevators, never tearing her gaze from the floor. The old man, Totosai was the only one to speak to her, asking if she was alright. She just shrugged and moved on, slipping into the elevator.
The doors slid open, revealing the floor to her door. She urged the heavy bag across the floor, before dropping it by her door, looking for her keys. Fingers fumbled, trying to unlock the knob as she yearned so much to be in her own house. The door finally clicked open, revealing the musky scent of patchouli.
No one was home. Just a note left on the table from her dear friend and roommate, Kagome:
Rin,
Inuyasha told me everything.
I’ve moved into Sango’s apartment for now, until I calm down.
Kagome.
Rin winced throwing the note away before she returned to the door to retrieve her bag. Weakened, tired hands dragged her bag in, before she nudged the door closed with her hip. Her gaze looked over the dim apartment, becoming frustrated and annoyed with the silence.
She caught a sob in her throat, trying to bat growing tears away as she thought through the past couple days. She had been nothing to Sesshomaru…and she knew that. She wanted to accept it, move on, but something in her screamed bloody murder every time she tried to push the memory back in her head.
“Rin…I could never be done with you.”
His words rang out like a haunting melody through her brain’s pathways. Her eyes closed, her face scrunching as she leaned back to the wall before sliding down to sit upon the floor. Her head dropped, falling to her hands as she felt defeated. Her sobs pouring from her heart as she tried to overcome her grief.
The demon had left her. Used her and left her…moved on.e bae band was heading north and was soon taking off to fly to the states to tour. He had never even said goodbye after he walked out that door. Her cell phone never rang any more, except for the two daily calls from Hiten everyday.
Rin moved, standing slowly, before a hand pushed from the wall, making her way towards her bedroom as she pulled off her hoodie, dropping it to the floor. Her body fell to the bed, her arms reaching for a pillow as she pulled it to her, cudd har harshly as she finally let her tears flow freely.
**
The bus rumbled down the highway, passing through the country land as the tour progressed on its normal path. The band sat about a table, chattering away about the concept for the new video the label was having them shoot. Each one had their own suggestion and soon, the quiet discussion turned into a full blown argument. All were screaming except for one…
Sesshomaru stared out the window, lost in dreams as he ignored the petty ego fight the band was having. He sighed some, trying hard to block out the memories of his kitten. Finger came up to rub his head some, his brain pounding in pain as the memory of her aura haunted him.
Inuyasha flopped down beside his brother, poking his shoulder lightly. “What’s wrong? You haven’t spoken a word to anyone since we left the hotel.” The hanyou sat back, relaxing his arms across the back of the seat, watching as his brother closed his eyes, frowning slightly.
“Inuyasha….please….go…away…” He spoke quietly, n loo looking to him as he turned his focus back out the window, watching a mall pass by. But something caught his eye. A billboard stood out, the band’s logo printed across the top. Rin stood in the center of the board’s layout. A promotional photo the band had chosen for their tour.
Her brown gaze stared lifelessly back to his own amber eyes, yet they seemed to scream pain at him as they passed. Sesshomaru closed his eyes tightly and slid from his spot, moving to his bunk as he decided he needed to be alone. The bunk was cramped, but it was the only way he could get the silence he wanted.
His eyes closed a moment, before opening again, thinking back to the last moment he had spent with Rin. It was not exactly how he had planned the night to end.
He whispered lowly, speaking to the souls listening as he closed his eyes once more. “Rin…I could never be done with you.”
