Author's Note: I've been neglectful! I aplogize minna! I honestly do, but it is my last quarter at school and I am trying my best to do well.

Chapter 25:

Kagome was awoken by the soft rustling of grass. She looked in the direction of the noise then heard Inuyasha's voice, "Don't worry. It is only Inutaisha and Kagoru." Kagome lowered her head back down to rest against Inuyasha's shoulder. "She smells strange."

"What do you mean?" Kagome asked him as she cuddled up against him more.

"I mean she smells different from her usual scent." He replied as his arm pulled her closer.

"I wonder. You don't think that she has somehow become pregnant?!"

Inuyasha laughed, "I doubt it Kagome."

"I hope she isn't. That would prove to be difficult if we are fighting." She told Inuyasha then turned over on her side.

"Don't worry Kagome. It would prove to our advantage it she was actually. Female demons and half-demons are much more stronger when their pregnant than any other time in their lives."

"Why is that?"

"Because she is protecting herself and her child." He replied matter-of-factly. "Don't worry Kagome. There is no chance that Inutaisha is pregnant."

"But you said she smelled different."

He sighed, "We will see what happens in a couple of weeks. Now can we get some more sleep?"

Kagome smiled at Inuyasha, "Very well then."

"I'm not pregnant Kagome." Inutaisha tried to tell the younger girl.

"How do you know? You and Kagoru have been with each other for a month almost."

"True, but I do not think I will get pregnant that quickly. Do not worry about me."

"But if you are...what will you do?" Kagome questioned Inutaisha.

"I don't know yet. However, if I am I will take extra care."

"I still think you might be pregnant."

Inutaisha knew that she could not argue with Kagome anymore. "If I am I will know soon. Believe me Kagome it is nothing that I cannot handle. You are so like Kagoru. He worries all the time."

"We're counterparts remember?" Kagome replied with a smile.

"Of course. But don't worry about me okay?"

Kagome nodded, "Okay."

It was two weeks later that Inutaisha knew that Kagome was right. She found that she had grown slightly in her stomach and that her mood was becoming increasingly hostile to all except her mate and Inuyasha and Kagome. She tried to control her outbursts by remembering that they were her friends but she could not help but growl slightly if one of them got too near.

It was during this time that something unexpected happened. They were all sitting around the fire in Kaga's hut trying to figure out a plan when Kaga interrupted and said, "Inutaisha, I think it will be best for your pup that we take off the subjugation necklace."

Everyone was floored, especially Inutaisha. "You realize how dangerous she can be without them don't you?" Kagoru asked.

"Yes. However, if you were to call the words you could hurt the pup growing inside her." Kaga explained to him.

"Alright then." Kagoru agreed.

Kaga lifted the beads over Inutaisha's head and placed them in his haori. "After the pup is born we will place these back on."

Inutaisha nodded knowing that it was for the best. "Back to our plan. Naraku and Naraka are getting more powerful. If we don't stop them then we might not be able to send you back home. That is important. We have to find their location so that we can take them down." Inuyasha interrupted.

"Maybe we could draw them to us." Inutaisha said solemnly.

Everyone looked at her and the solemnity on her face was unmistakeable. "What are you thinking?" Kagoru asked.

"Naraku wants me for some reason, we'll lay a trap. Let him think that I am alone then we can spring our trap on him. Naraka will soon follow."

"No. Out of the question!" Kagoru shouted.

"It's the only way. Look we can't ever find them because they are moving all the time. We have to draw them to us and that is the only way to do so. They both will work together and try to wound me at some point. We can surround them and get them then."

"What about the baby?" Kagome questioned her.

"I will do everything in my power to protect my pup. You know that Kagome. Naraku will feel Tetsuseiga's sting before he ever lay a hand on me."

"Inutaisha, you and I both know that if we do this you could be endangered. Both Naraku and Naraka are powerful." Inuyasha interrupted.

Inutaisha finally nodded, "I know. It's a chance I am willing to take."

The group agreed and set to finish their plans. Inutaisha prayed that she would be able to do everything she had told them and still keep her pup safe. She was set on it.
