Why the Dog Howls At The Moon

A/N: i know i had said each chapter was going to be a month for the months between Anaminé's due date but i wasnt able to really come up with anything. so here is the next chapter in Why the dog Howls at the Moon Enjoy.

Three months had passed and Anaminé was now 5 months pregnant. She had been on bed rest for the past two and half months, her belly was now very large. They had decided to deliver at the western lands palace Sesshomaru and His Father where able to get a list of what would be needed if the worst scenario where to happen and had it on hand for the doctor. The family had been gathered now at the palace for the last month and half. Inu Yasha and Kagome had brought their school work with them so they would not fall behind. Anaminé hadn’t been able to sleep for the past three days and she was completely miserable. She was wearing a really long light kimono over her long night gown she wore and her hair was loosely braided and draped over her shoulder as she stood in the garden in the cool April night walking around as the moon looked down on her.

Sesshomaru stood at the entrance for a few minutes watching his wife pace back and forth belly swollen with his pups. He slowly walked into the garden over to her and placed a hand on the small of her back.

“Come back to bed your not suppose to be up and moving.” Sesshomaru spoke softly

“I can’t Sesshomaru I’ve been in a bed for the past two and half months and I haven’t slept in three days I’m exhausted and miserable I cant do it anymore.” Anaminé said looking up at Sesshomaru with tears in her eyes.

“I’m so tired I feel like I’m going insane I just want them out” Anaminé added

“I know Anaminé but they will come when they are ready” Sesshomaru said moving a small piece of hair out of his wife’s face.

“Please Sesshomaru let me just walk untill I tire myself out” Anaminé pleaded with him.

Sesshomaru hated seeing her this miserable and nodded and walked around the gardens with her one of her hands in his and his arm wrapped around her waist. It was about a hour later on their way back to their room that Anaminé got a agonizing pain in her stomach. She had been achy all day but hadn’t paid attention to it figuring it was from lack of sleep and being in bed. Sesshomaru’s grip on her waist tightened as Anaminé hissed at the pain almost falling to her knees.

With in minutes she was in a room that was set up for the delivery and Sesshomaru along with Inu Yasha and his father and younger sister out in the hallway waiting to hear from the doctor to see if everything was okay with Anaminé. Moments passed and the door slid open and the doctor came out.

“Well she is defiantly in labor and pretty far into it. We should be delivering in the next hour or so.” Doctor Ibi said

“I know its custom for the males to wait some where else while the babies are being born but considering how she has been the past couple of days and the fact that its not just one I think it would be better if Sesshomaru was in there to help her and support her.” Dr. Ibi said

Sesshomaru looked at his father as Inu Taisho gave it some thought and then nodded.

“I think you’re right having Izayoi and Kagome in there will be nice but knowing Anaminé the person she will want most is Sesshomaru.” Inu Taisho said

Sesshomaru nodded and walked into the room over to Anaminé who was laying in the bed as Kagome pored her a glass of water and Izayoi sat next to her. She smiled when she saw Sesshomaru and smiled.

Sesshomaru smiled back and took her hand as he reached her bed side.

“It’ll all be over soon my love.” Sesshomaru whispered to her.


Hours had passed and the castle was filled with screams coming from Anaminé. Inu Yasha, Kagome, Inu Taisho and Rin had gone into one of the lounges. Rin had fallen asleep with her head on Inu Taisho’s lap. Kagome was fighting her eyes as her head laid on Inu Yasha’s shoulder.

Sesshomaru held onto Anaminé’s hand as she screamed and pushed. She had already delivered their son he had silver hair like his mother and father and the Crescent moon on his forehead on his small cheeks where stripes like Sesshomaru’s but here a light blue like his mothers, his eyes where golden orbs like his father’s. It was nearly four in the morning and their second child was almost born. With one more push their first girl had entered the world. She like her brother had silver hair like their parents, she also had the vibrant golden eyes like her father, and the crescent moon on her forehead. Her markings here the stripes going downward under her eyes like her mothers but where the magenta of her father.


Anaminé laid back panting her eyes slowly opening and closing she was exhausted. Sesshomaru looked at her and gently moved strands of hair that stuck to her sweaty brow and spoke softly to her.

“Only one more your doing great, I’m so proud of you” Sesshomaru said

“I cant I’m to tired” Anaminé panted

“Yes you can your so strong just a little bit longer.” Sesshomaru said taking a cool wet rag and whipping her face.

“I’m just so tired Sesshomaru” Anaminé said as a tear ran down her face.

“I know but I’m right here, you can do it I know you can.” Sesshomaru said

Just as the sky was starting to turn pink indicating the sun was starting to raise their last daughter was born. She also had silver hair and golden eyes and the crescent moon. Her markings on her cheeks where circles that went from big to small to make a stripe like her brother and sister but the circles alternated from light blue to magenta.

Anaminé cried as she lay back against the pillows behind her. She was so happy that they where here and that it was finally done. She panted as she was cleaned up and the babies where wrapped in blankets. Sesshomaru went over to his pups and nuzzled each one of them. The small infants sniffed the air memorizing their fathers scent. Sesshomaru picked up the boy and the first little girl and Izayoi picked up the other little girl and they carried them over to the exhausted Anaminé. Izayoi gave Anaminé the little girl she held as Sesshomaru sat next to Anaminé on the bed.

Anaminé gently used her knuckle to gently rub the little girl’s cheek, and touched her noise to hers and rubbed them together gently and then looked at her other two children.

“We did it Sesshomaru” Anaminé said smiling at her mate.

“No you did it, you where amazing” Sesshomaru said kissing her forehead.

Izayoi smiled at the two as she left the room. The small girl that was seen as the weakest of the pack was the strongest. She was the only one who had the power to melt the icy cold heart of the prince to the west after hundreds of years. Izayoi went to the lounge where the others where and found them all asleep. Inu Taisho had lain down on the couch and Rin was sleep laying on top of him much like she did when she was a infant. Inu Yasha and Kagome where sleeping side by side on the other couch that sat in the room. Izayoi went over to a decorative gong and hit it and caused everyone shoot up and look around.

The woman laughed at the four members of her family she just couldn’t help herself.

Inu Yasha’s ears twitched “Hey the screaming stopped.”

“How observant you are my son” Izayoi said with a smile

“Has Onee-san had her babies?” Rin asked rubbing her eyes.

“Yes my darling” Izayoi said walking over and picking up her daughter.

“A Beautiful baby boy and two precious little girls all healthy as can be.” Izayoi said

Inu Taisho smiled “I’m a grandpa”

“And I’m a aunt!” Rin said throwing up her arms.

“When can we see her?” Kagome asked

“She is very tired and her and Sesshomaru are alone right now lets give them a few more moments alone then we can go in a few at a time and see them and tell them goodnight Anaminé is going to need her rest.” Izayoi said

In the room Anaminé and Sesshomaru where still holding their babies, basking in the sheer joy that came from the fact of them being there in their arms.

“They need their names” Anaminé said looking at Sesshomaru

“Well in honor to your father with it so close to his death we shall name the boy Takeshi the girl with the light blue solid stripes will be called Yuka and the one you are holding we will name Misaki.” Sesshomaru said looking at the babies.

Anaminé smiled looking at the babies. A Few moments went by and Inu Yasha and Kagome walked into the room. Kagome cooed as she saw the little babies in their arms.

“Can I hold one?” Kagome asked

Sesshomaru went to say no but Anaminé handed her Misaki.

Kagome held the baby in her arms as Inu Yasha looked down over her shoulder.

“They aren’t as loud as I thought they would be” Inu Yasha said

“That’s because they aren’t hungry yet Inu Yasha” Kagome said looking up at him.

“Would you like to hold one Inu Yasha” Anaminé asked

“I don’t know” Inu Yasha said kind of scared to hold one.

“That’s not a good idea he would probably drop the baby” Sesshomaru said

Inu Yasha scoffed.

“Here come and sit on the bed Inu Yasha” Anaminé said taking Takeshi in her arms.

Inu Yasha sat down and Anaminé gently handed the baby boy to him. Inu Yasha was tense at first but after a few minutes he loosened up and smiled down at the baby.

“Inu Yasha meet you nephew Takeshi” Anaminé said

With the next couple of hours Anaminé and the babies where moved back to her and Sesshomaru’s room so they could have some privacy and rest. Just after getting settled in they wanted to be fed. Anaminé looked down at her three sleeping babies that lay on the bed in front of her and Sesshomaru. Anaminé laid her head on Sesshomaru’s shoulder as she ran her finger softly over Takeshi’s small soft hand as he grabbed the finger in his small fist.

“Well Sesshomaru our future lies with them now.” Anaminé said

Sesshomaru nodded as he ran a knuckle softly over Yuka’s cheek “From today on they are the future both ours and the western lands.”
