The two girls sat at the table after everyone was seen to. Kagome prepared the plates while Keiko delivered them. After the four in the living room were taken care of Kagome fixed a plate for her and Keiko. She was slowly accepting everything but she still wasn't ready to be in the same room with both. Keiko didn't seem to mind at all.
"So Kagome, mind if I ask you a personal question?"
"Go ahead."
"What were you doing with Kurama that day. What happened? Yusuke told me he saw you sitting in Kurama's car when he came inside. It doesn't make sense that he'd have you with him then turn around and hit you." Keiko knew that he could be ruthless but she'd seen the look on his face when he'd entered her room. He seemed to care for her so it didn't make sense.
"Don't think badly of him for that, I struck out first."
"Why were you with him?"
"We'd been dating for a few months, he stopped by for whatever reason. Needless to say our relationship ended that day." Kagome didn't want to say anymore.
"So you were the one he was spending all his free time with. Why? I don't understand."
"Its complicated." Kagome didn't want to go into details. What could she tell her. That she'd known both of them from the past. That she was actually mated to Kurama but Koronue had been her lover. They'd both thought her to dead and now held a grudge against her for some reason. Okay she understood that Kurama blamed her for his friend's death.
"You can talk to me if you need to but I won't pressure you."
They were cleaning up the dishes from dinner, once again Yusuke had the television blasting while the four sat and talked. Laughter could be heard coming from the room. Keiko had the radio on low, humming as they worked.
The brunette ran over when a song came on. She turned the radio all the up. "I love this song, Shizuru taught me to dance not long ago. You know this song?"
Kagome listened for a few seconds and recognized the song. It was Ice Cube's "Put Your Ass Into It." She blushed, "I'm suprised you'd listen to something like that."
She blushed. "Come on dance with me so I don't feel so stupid." She pulled Kagome into the middle of the floor.
"I can't believe you want me to dance with you."
"Hey, I danced in the rain with you."
"Okay," Kagome stepped in line Keiko. Oh yeah, she knew how to dance to this one. Keiko was better at it though.
Yusuke got up to demand Keiko turn that shit off and stopped in his tracks. It looked like his wife was getting it on with the miko. "No way." Hiei heard the man and was there in a second. His eyes widened at the sight. He suddenly envied the three men around him. All four watched, tying not to draw attention to themselves.
Keiko was having fun, it was nice to have someone near her own age, that was human that also knew of youkais. She broke out laughing when she spotted the four men standing in the entrance gawking. So they wanted to stare, she pulled Kagome close then whispered into her ear. "We got an audience, I say we give em something to watch."
The song went off suddenly then another started. Nelly's "Shake your tailfeather" came on. Kagome took a deep breath and followed Keiko. Kagome ignored the fact that she was being stared at and let herself get into the music. Kagome looked to see Keiko shaking her ass and a groan was heard from behind them. The girl turned to Kagome her eyes clearly saying 'Your Turn.'
Kagome didn't think she'd be able to do it as good as her but gave it a try.
"You go girl!" Keiko shouted.
The phone rang interrupting them, Keiko blushed and turned down the music. Yusuke's hand reached out and picked it up. "Hello!"
Kagome was blushing from head to toe. She saw him hand Keiko the phone but stood there glaring at the girl.
Keiko spoke into the reciever, "Hi Hojo. I'm great how are you? Yes, she's here. I'll see if she feels up to talking." She placed her hand over the reciever and looked at Kagome. She shook her head no. "I'm sorry Hojo, yeah her ulcer is acting up. Okay I will."
Kagome started laughing at the lie. "Thanks." She looked in the doorway to see that both men were already gone. "I think I'm going to head to bed maybe read until I get tired."
"Okay let me know if you need anything."
Kagome tried to get into the book she was reading. She'd climbed into the bed about an hour ago. After changing into her pajamas, which was a spaghetti strapped top and the pajama shorts to match. They were cotton nothing sexy, so she figured it was okay.
She felt her breath catch when Hiei didn't come in but Kurama. Seemed he would be her roommate tonight. She tried to ignore him and pretend to be reading the novel her mother had sent. She was laying on her side facing the door, the cot was located on the other side of her bed. So once he walked past her, as long as she didn't turn over she didn't have to look at him. He didn't speak neither did she.
She heard him getting settled and went back to her book. At least she tried to. Her mind wouldn't let her though. A month ago she'd been ready to give him her heart. She'd started dreaming of having a life with him. That day she had been ready to be with him. Yet, he'd only been decieving her, to hurt her. He had never been interested, he'd told her once he would never bed her. Would he have went through with it that night? Or had he been planning on something else and she'd misunderstood him. Her luck he'd been planning on revealing the truth then tearing her head off.
A clap of lightning sounded and the lights went out. She swore, so much for pretending to be reading. She placed the book on the nightstand. The room was too dark to do anything, so she closed her eyes. She'd have to pretend to be sleeping then. Though he didn't seem to be paying her any attention. She wasn't sure how long she layed there before sleep finally claimed her.
Kurama heard the steady breathing, she was finally asleep. He stood up and walked over to the bed. He knelt beside the bed and stared at her. She was sleeping peacefully, she looked like an angel. He brought his hand up to stroke her cheek, the same one he had struck not long ago. He had regretted his actions but the damage had been done.
He felt anger at himself, she seemed so frail. He'd first asked her out to try and get some information from her. Just to see, who she really was. After he'd taken her home that night, he'd wanted to spend more time with her. He soon knew why his friend had been obsessed with the girl. Only after a few weeks he'd known he was in love with her. He forgot about his plans for revenge and his hatred. He wanted her.
He took the seed out of his hair and placed it in his palm. The vine wrapped around his palm and grew. He heard her quick intake of breath as the vine entered her arm. It was making it's way into her blood stream.
"What the hell are you doing?"
