A New Life For Two

Chapter Twenty-Four

Kagome and the others stopped in front of the castle. Before anyone could speak they were rushed by demons. They were coming out the castle by the dozens. Kagome panicked knowing her friend was somewhere in there probably running for her life. Screw messing around with all these things. It was time to see if she could truly wield the gift from Inuyasha.

Everyone saw the girl step forward and unsheath the sword. It transformed into the huge fang, which she held in her small hand. It looked like it would weigh a ton but she didn't seem bothered by its weight. Kagome took a second to find the fischer she needed. The herd was almost upon them. "Time to make you proud Inuyasha." She swung the sword unleashing its power.

The power unleashed searing through the demons. Within a few seconds all the demons quickly vanished. Kagome held her breath, "I did it."

"Very nice, miko." Saburo smiled as he walked out. "I'd never thought you'd get here. I've run out of patience I'm afraid. That fang may have worked on those lesser demons but it will not work on me. You will die with the detective and his friends." He unleashed a blast sending it straight at Kagome.

Kurama grabbed her out of harms way. Upon landing on her feet she swung the sword again. The power was unleashed sending it straight at him. He stood there waiting for it. Kagome felt her heart sink when he merely absorbed the blast. "Shit."

"Yes, shit." He laughed. "Now, what was I saying. Oh yes, detective, I made you a promise." He snapped his fingers. He'd sent one of his servants to fetch the girl's body when he'd seen them arrive. He decided to taunt the boy as they brought it up. "You know Yurameshi, you should thank me for killing her. The girl was too loud for her own good. How you put up with her is beyond even my comprehension. Though my demons had fun hearing her scream right before they killed her."

"You bastard," Yusuke could feel the tears burning his eyes. "No, she can't be dead."

"I assure you she is." He saw his servant rushing out to him. Without the girl. He glared at him, "I told you to bring me her body!"

"Master, I went to retrieve her but she was gone. Someone killed the guard."

He looked over at the group and his eyes widened. The taijiya wasn't with them. The bitch must have came through the portal. "The taijiya is in the castle. Find them, I won't them both dead."

Kagome felt relief at hearing Sango was not only alive but had been able to get to Keiko in time. "Yes, they're alive."

Saburo heard the miko. "I wouldn't sound to happy miko. Both of them will die before they can make it out my castle." He turned to his servant who'd been about to leave. "Remove the jewel and destroy the castle. Bring it down on their heads."

Sango knew they were lost. Keiko sighed and leaned up against the wall. "Sorry I got us lost." They'd taken a wrong turn somewhere. Now it looked like they were further down then they had been before. The castle had many chambers underground all confusing, with its many halls.

"Don't worry theres got to be a way out. We will find it." Sango heard voices coming towards them.

"Get the jewel, then we are going to destroy the castle."

'What jewel?' Sango mentioned for Keiko to follow her. They followed the voices into a large room. Sango almost gave them away when she spotted the jewel in question. It was black, it was huge, it had to be the size of globe. A black mist swirled inside emitting an evil aura. Her heart dropped when she knew she'd felt this aura once before. It belonged to Naraku.

Somehow the very essence of his evil soul was centered into that huge jewel. She had to stop them from escaping with it. It had to be the source of Saburo's power. She turned to Keiko, "I have to destroy that thing. I have a feeling Yusuke and the others won't have much of a chance if I don't."

Keiko nodded. Even being human she could feel the evil coming from it.

Sango spoke, "Stay here." She went into the room. There was three demons, one giving orders as the others prepared to wrap it up. She unleashed Hiraikotsu taking two of them down. The one giving orders turned to her.

He backed up when he saw the taijaya, "I will not die for him." He turned and ran. Sango raised an eyebrow, that had been easy. The demon ran past Keiko, not paying her any attention. Sango looked at the jewel, she could almost hear Naraku's laughter. How to go about getting rid of the thing. Would smashing it work? Or would that just simply have the same result as the Shikon Jewel?
She was about to find out. She raised the large weapon above her head and stopped in mid-swing. The tenseiga was pulsing at her side. She put the weapon back on her back. "Ok, lets see what you can do."

She unsheathed the sword, it pulsed as she swung it down to land on the large jewel.

Things were going badly outside. Kuruma had to keep ahold of Kagome as they were assualted with energy blasts. None of their attacks had any effect on the demon. If anything he absorbed each attack. Everyone was trying but nothing worked. Kagome gave up and used an arrow. It had flown across the air and he merely swatted it away like one would a fly.

Jin was in the air holding onto Rinku who had a broken arm. The wind demon had several gashes along his arms and legs. "Tough bastard." The wind demon had to dodge another blast sent his way. "Dammit."

Touya and Chu weren't doing any better on the ground. They were running around trying not to die. Touya erected an ice wall in time to keep his head attached. Yusuke was trying to get into the castle as they fought but each time he got close to the door Saburo would send him reeling back. Laughing the whole time. He knew the boy was frantically trying to get inside to save the girl. It was a damn shame he'd went through the trouble of kidnapping the wrong one.

Kurama leapt in time to save himself and Kagome. Hiei took a swing at the demon, the blade sunk into the demons body. The fire demon jumped back to examine his work to find it already healed. The bastard didn't even bleed. He landed next to the fox, "This is pointless. If this keeps up we might as well kiss our own asses goodbye."

"I hate to agree with you but I looks like we are at a loss. I don't think we can bring him down." Kurama looked at the girl in his arms. She looked at him with tears in her eyes.

She shook her head. She wouldn't give up, not now. "We can't give up. I won't give up."

A large blast sent them running once again. The demon laughed, he was enjoying himself immensely. Watching them run like bugs, scurrying at his feet trying to not get squashed. "You will all die by my hand. Yo..." He paused. An image flashed through his mind. He scream tore through the air causing everyone to stop. "NO, NO, THE TIAJIYA. YOU FUCKING BITCH! I'LL DESTROY YOU WITH MY BARE HANDS!!!!" He snarled when he felt the jewel burst and be sent to the other world. "The jewel, you've destroyed it." The ground shook beneath them.

Kagome looked up to see hundreds of black lights shooting into the air. She grabbed the Tetsusiaga seeing his power leaving him. She'd kill him now. She thrust the power into the fischer, it shot towards him. He screamed as it crashed into his body tearing him apart. It passed leaving half his body, he was scowling at the girl.

"Spirit gun." The blast hit him head on. Kagome watched as the rest of his body turned to ash. "Wow. I didn't know you could do that." Yusuke ran to the entrance to head inside as did the others.

A large blast sent them back before they could enter. The entrance collapsed as they watched in horror. "Sango," Kagome and Yusuke screamed at the same time. No one stopped to realize that it hadn't been Keiko he called for.

Sango felt the sword impact, slicing right down the jewel. A blast was emitted from the sword. Sango was thrown back several feet. Keiko raced to help her to her feet. Several seconds later light burst through the room blinding them. Black trails were shooting towards the sky.

"You did it." Keiko watched as the jewel slowly shrunk in size. "Lets get out of here."

Sango replaced the sword at her side. The earth shook as they tried to make their way up the stairs. "Shit we gotta get out now, this place is going to come down on us."
