Epilogue
Kagome sat quietly at her kitchen table, staring out at the beautiful scene of her backyard. It had been seven years since Inuyasha and Kagome mated, quickly followed by their marriage. She now lived with him in their house in Tokyo. They had moved back to stay near family. Kagome had authored many books, since her graduation at NYU. She also had a steady career writing a column for a local paper, she sent in through e-mail. Inuyasha had, surprisingly, started a martial arts studio. He taught kids and adults down at his own studio, which he bought during their second year together. They still kept in touch with Sango and Miroku. Sango was actually staying to visit right now.
Sango came up behind Kagome and took a seat next to her. Kagome didn't look up, but kept smiling at the scene playing out before her eyes. Inuyasha was on the ground wrestling with 2 little girls and 3 little boys. The little girl with her hands on Inu's chest holding him down had long raven hair and stunning golden eyes. She had high cheek bones and was muscular, but still looked like a cute adorable little 3 year old. The other girl couldn't have been more than 2 years in age and was sitting by Inuyasha's head and tugging roughly at his hair. She had her mouth hung open giggling and drool slipping down the side of her mouth. She had black hair with silver highlights and gold eyes that held flecks of blue in them. She had curling hair in contrast to her sisters pin straight bob cut.
The boys all looked different, yet held strong similarities. The one by Inuyasha's foot looked to be four and was holding Inu's feet, keeping him in place. He had silver hair and brilliant blue eyes that held a mischievous spark. He had his hair pulled into a low ponytail and his short pointed black ears kept twitching. Everyone of the children had silver ears with black tips, but this one had black with silver tips. The boy who looked to be three, appeared the exact replica of the three year old girl. The only difference in their features was that he had more muscle. The last boy was holding Inuyasha's stomach as he struggled. He had straight silver hair with gleaming gold eyes and his fangs peeked out from his mouth. He looked exactly like Inuyasha except for his smile. All the children smiled like the man who they were tackling, wide and flashing all their teeth. This boy smiled held a hidden curiosity, shyness and fun.
Kagome turned to Sango when she heard a baby's cry. Sango was hushing a 1 year old to sleep. The little girl fussed and pounded her golf ball sized fist into Sango's chest. Sango gave an apologetic glance Kagome's way as she stood to retrieve a bottle. Kagome smiled as she watched Sango nurture her and Miroku's daughter, Lynn Rose. They had been married after many years of break ups and make ups. Kagome and Inuyasha had come to know Miroku as the letch he was, that is before Sango wiped him into shape. Miroku was back in NY working hard at his business, it was in the law field. Sango herself took over her families business. She was great at it and very wealthy, but she'd been working from home since Lynn Rose's birth. Sango came out to visit them every two months for a week or so.
The door to Kagome's right slammed open and Kagome was almost caught off guard by the mini monsters hurled at her. Inuyasha grabbed her arms and pulled her upright, while removing three giggling kids from her. The eldest held his mother tight around the middle, barely making it around, in her current condition. The two little girls held fast to her legs. The two other boys sat on the floor in the corner playing with blocks, after being pulled off their mother. Kagome looked down and laughed, it was very airy pleasant sound, that made everyone smile.
"Hi my babies how are you? Did you and daddy have fun?" The two girls nodded as did the three boys. Inuyasha Jr. pulled away from his mother as she stood. His younger sisters Sophie and Mei hung on to her legs. Inuyasha Sr. picked up Sophie, the drooling 2 year old and hugged her, placing her on his hip. Kagome's left leg hadn't been unoccupied for more than a second when the three year old Otoko, took up the position. The twins looked at each other from opposite pant legs and giggled profusely. Then a four year old Tain, pulled on his mother's hand and reached his arms out to be picked up. Kagome reached down to take him, but couldn't. Her belly was too large. This being her sixth child, Kagome was used to it.
Inuyasha grinned down at his glowing wife. She'd bared him five beautiful children and now, Kaguya would be their sixth. Kagome was eight months along and due soon. They would have and even number of kids and fair number of boy to girl ratio. He could do with a few more after this one, but he loved his kids. Smiling down at Tain he grabbed him and had him on his other hip in no time.
"Sheesh, you guys are like the Asian version of the Brady Bunch." Sango laughed as a small giggle escaped Lynn Rose. Sango glanced down and saw she was nodding off. "I better get her in her car seat. I wish I could stay longer guys, but poor Miro is managing everything all by his lonesome." Placing her daughter in a carrying seat, she hugged all the little munchkins, who had pulled away from their parents to hug their aunt. Inuyasha and Kagome each hugged her and Lynn Rose, their godchild.
"Bye we'll miss you. See you in a couple of months. I'll bring Miro with me." Kagome and Inuyasha stood on the front porch of their three story home. Inuyasha had his arms protectively and affectionately wrapped around his wife with their kids hugging them around the middle and clinging to their legs.
Their last thought as the evening sun kissed the horizon, turning it pinks and gold’s, 'So this is what happily ever after feels like.'
