Misfortune Followed Us Home ch.24
“I – I don’t understand,” Kagome stuttered.
“The cave Miko.”
“You bit me. What does that have to do with anything?”
“The consequences of that action, all because YOU failed to protect yourself.”
“Hey! I’m not Wonder Woman ya know! I can’t be perfect all the time, so I screwed up once, get over it!”
“WATCH YOUR TONE,” he snarled.
“Fine! Kami. Can you get off me please?”
He glared at her briefly before rising and standing with arms folded in front of her. She sat up quickly, glaring back at the not so stoic Inu Youkai. “What have I done that is so horrible?”
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath trying to calm down. “Why did I teach you to mask your scent?”
“To stop me from luring powerful enemies to us.”
“For what reason.”
“Would they come after me?”
He glared in response.
“You said something like the shikon no kakera, plus my own power, plus – oh, uh…well shit.”
“……”
“Sorry,” she answered meekly.
“SORRY! Because of your inattentiveness, we have become bonded.”
“So, uh, that dream –,”
“You will not mention such a thing ever again.”
“Fine, okay, so you bit me and now we’re bonded. So, is it just dreams or –,”
“A general mood, strong feelings, and the mark on your neck will alert others to your status.”
“That’s why you locked me in?”
“Foolish woman,” he growled out exasperatedly. “You are a miko, in a shiro full of demons, most of which who have never heard of a miko who did not immediately kill every demon she saw. Keeping you here is the only reason you are alive.”
“Oh.”
“Enough. Try to behave.” With that he marched out the door and back to his own room.
“I’m not a child,” she yelled after him. She sat, thinking on what he had just said. “Wait a minute,” she thought, “mark, what mark?” She looked in the vanity mirror looking for any changes. There on her neck was a blue crescent, tattooed into her skin where he had bitten her.
