Chapter 23:

"I can't pick up her scent anywhere." Inuyasha said as they walked towards a village. Kagoru wondered if they were ever going to find Inutaisha. He shook that thought from his head as he concentrated on finding her. He had tried to remain upbeat, but it was hard to without knowing where she was. He missed her terribly.

"We can't give up." Kagome interrupted his thoughts. "Not for a moment."

Kagoru nodded quickly as Inuyasha sniffed again. "I don't plan to." He said.

'For once,' Inutaisha thought to herself, 'let it overcome you. Let the rage out.'

Inutaisha rose on her injured legs and pulled at her chains. She gritted her teeth as she felt the chains bite into her flesh. She would not let Naraka win. There was no way in hell that she would. The bitch would die. She ached to sink her claws in that bitch's face.

She could feel her anger rising and the familiar rage coming over her. Her eyes glowed a bloody red as she pulled at the chains that bound her. Inutaisha finally heard a snap and the chains hit the floor. She could only think of how much she wanted to tear apart Naraka and Naraku, however, she had to get Kagoru. By now he would be riddled with worry for her and she could not bear that.

Inutaisha stepped carefully as not to make a noise. She was determined to get out of the castle. She would and there would be no stopping her. Not even Naraka or Naraku.

Kagoru felt Tetsuseiga pulse beneath his hands, as if it was trying to tell him something. He stopped in the middle of the road causing the entire group to look back at him. "What is the matter Kagoru?" Sanga questioned him.

"Tetsuseiga pulsed. I don't know if it is trying to tell me something, but it hasn't done that before." He replied.

Inuyasha sniffed the air again. He paused and looked in the direction of a forest. "It's faint, but I can smell her scent."

"You think she got out?" Kagoru asked him.

"She had to." Kagome interrupted.

"Let us see if we can find her." Inuyasha finally said.

Inutaisha made her way to a familiar scent. She knew it was Kagoru's scent from the moment his scent had entered her nostrils. He carried the Tetsuseiga, she sensed it. She winced as her legs wobbled, her legs had yet healed from the breaks that had occured recently. The first thought that entered her mind was getting to her mate. She needed to find Kagoru first and then she would tear apart the traitor.

She panted as she sniffed for Kagoru once more, his scent flooded her nostrils, he was nearer now. She could sense his emotions, excitement and happiness seemed to emit from him. She decided to call out to him now, "Kagoru!"

Inuyasha's ears perked as he caught the sound of Inutaisha's voice. Her scent grew stronger as they neared her. "Call out to her Kagoru. I heard her voice."

"Inutaisha! Where are you?!" He shouted as loud as possible. Tetsuseiga started to shake violently in Kagoru's hands. "It's her! I know it is. Lead me Tetsuseiga!" Kagoru cried out as he began running to find his mate. He could hear her voice as the Tetsuseiga drew him nearer to her.

When he finally found her he gasped as she smiled at him. She held Tetsuseiga's sheath and watched as it flew and sheathed itself, she then tied it to her belt. "Kagoru." She simply said as she took in his familiar scent.

"Inutaisha." He suddenly shouted as he flew into her arms. She groaned softly as he collided with her. "God I wanted to know that you were okay. Did I hurt you?"

"I will heal soon enough." Inutaiasha replied as she grasped his face and kissed him, her fingers reached up to stroke his silky black hair.

"Inutaisha, I missed you. I couldn't bear you to be hurt."

"Do not worry Kagoru. Father came to me and helped me." She paused then remembered what she was going to do. "Where is Kimi?!"

"Why do you ask?"

"I am going to rip apart that bitch! She betrayed me to those two!"

"I knew that she had to have some part in it!" Kagoru cried out.

"Let's join Inuyasha and the rest and I will tell you what happened."
