An Interlude
Chapter 24: An Interlude
Totosai chuckled to himself as he meandered down the busy downtown sidewalk, easily sidestepping others, who were in a hurry to get no where. He stopped in front of a nondescript building, only a plaque on the front showing it was a business, and not just another empty building.
“I wonder if he even remembers me?” he wondered aloud, tapping his chin lightly as he gazed at the panel before him. “Ah well, the only way to find out is to ask” he spoke as he pulled open the heavy wood door.
Inside was much grander than what one would have expected from the outside. He walked into a large reception area. There was the receptionist sitting about fifteen or so feet ahead typing madly on her computer. Along the walls between him and the desk were plush chocolate and cream chairs and couches. Dispersed between those were small tables with lamps a top. The walls were a basic egg shell, while the curtains a deep red. Decadent but classy was the only way to sum it up. Refined in its simplicity, the room was welcoming and polished at the same time.
He walked up to the receptionist and cleared his throat, hoping to gain her attention away from the computer screen.
“Good afternoon Mr. Totosai.” she greeted him warmly, her attention not wavering from the screen. “Mr. Tasio is waiting for you. If you will please have a seat, I shall inform him you are here.”
He frowned a moment before moving to sit in a cream colored chair. ‘How did she know who I was? I haven’t seen Inu in a few centuries. Ah well, I’ll ask him later.’ He noted that the receptionist never stopped working on her computer. ‘Didn’t she say she was going to announce me?’ he pondered.
Just as he was about to ask, she piped up, “Mr. Tasio will see you now, if you will just follow me,” she got up from her station and led him to a set of doors he didn’t notice upon his first inspection of the room.
She tapped gently on the wood door and pushed it open, stepping aside and gesturing for him to continue on within. She gently shut the doors behind him, sealing him inside.
“Totosai!” A deep voice boomed from ahead. “Kami old man, how have you been? Come in, come in, and take a seat. I just have to make one quick call, than you shall have my complete attention” Inu waved him towards the sitting area as he picked up the phone.
Totosai gave a mental shrug, some things never changed. He gazed around the spacious office as he walked to the gestured area. There were quite a few shelves lined with books, others lined with old scrolls, and scattered between on the walls were various pictures and wall scrolls. He walked over to a small cluster that was obviously the more personal photos.
He couldn’t help but to grin as he looked upon a slightly younger version of the youkai that was in his shop earlier. ‘Still arrogant, but had the right to be as he was known even back then as the Killing Perfection, and lived up to such a name.’ In the picture he was in his old white and red kimono with armor and mokomoko-sama. He was posed, rather impatiently, ready to strike with that terrible blade he had commissioned when he couldn’t take the Tetsaiga from his brother.
He looked off to the side at another picture, this one of a younger Inu Yasha. He was standing in his usual stance of hands up his sleeves and face turned from the artist, but you could tell he was interested as his ears were turned towards the painter. He was dressed in his old red kimono made from the hair of a fire rat. He sighed as he looked at those pictures, remembering them well despite his being so many more years older.
“Remember those two, and how they used to bicker and damn near kill each other over the ownership of Tetsaiga?” Tasio spoke as he clasped his arm about his old friend’s shoulders. “To be back in those much simpler days.” he said on a sigh.
“Well,” he clapped Totosai on his shoulder and steered him towards the plush chairs. “You didn’t come here to reminisce, did you? What is it my old friend, is there something you need. No wait, don’t tell me,” he sighed dramatically as he dropped into one of the chairs. “One of my sons is in trouble again.” he shook his head in exasperation. “I thought they put most of that behind them.”
Totosai chuckled at his friend. “No Tasio, as far as I am aware, both your sons are fine. One is so damn fine, when I saw him earlier he had a mate.” he said slyly, looking to see how his friend would react to this news.
Tasio sat up and looked intently at his old friend. “What do you mean ‘mate’?” he practically growled in response. “Only one of my sons is courting a female that I highly disapprove of. I sincerely hope it isn’t Inu Yasha you speak of.” he frowned a moment in thought. ‘I really hope it isn’t Yasha, because that girl is also sleeping with another hanyou. Please Kami, let it not be Yasha!’ He silently prayed closing his eyes. “Come on! Out with it! Which son did you see?”
Totosai looked at his friend and was about to tease him when he noticed the strain in his friends face. He cleared his throat to gain his attention. “No, it wasn’t Yasha that I seen. It was Sesshomaru. He came into my store and didn’t recognize me at first. He took an interest in the second sword that I had made for him years ago, just before I had disappeared. As he was working with the blade, a young woman entered. She was entranced with his movements, and when he was finished, she went right up to him and I could sense how they completed each other. But as joyous as that news is, I didn’t come here to tattle on him for obviously mating and not telling you about it, I’m sure he will soon. I came because his mate reminds of that priestess from so long ago. You remember her? The one who was guarding the Shikon Jewel, and died protecting it?” he paused to let the information he passed on to Tasio settle.
“Sesshomaru is the one mated? That is a load off my mind. The woman complemented him? Wait, woman? He mated a human? My son Sesshomaru, the youkai who for centuries hated all humans and everything associated with them? And he is now mated to one?” Tasio pondered for a moment, and then frowned. “And she reminds you of that Shikon Miko? I thought that the miko lines died out years ago, could one have survived?” he mused to himself.
“Yes, Sess is the one mated. But I don’t know that she is human, at least not completely. I sense a strong youki from her, but that could be because she is mated. It is the strong spiritual energy that is mixed in that confuses me. But as fun as all this sharing is my friend, I did come for a different purpose.” Totosai changed the subject.
Tasio looked at him curiously. “You didn’t just come to reminisce and inform me of one of my sons mating? What did you come here for old friend?”
“I came here out of respect to inform you that I will be creating another youkai blade. I had initially meant to ask for one of your fangs, but now that I have thought about it, I may need one of Sesshomaru’s as the blade will be for his mate, Kagome.” he replied.
“Ah!” Tasio responded enlightenment dawning. “You have come to the right place. I just so happen to have a fang of Sesshomaru’s from one of his fights with Inu Yasha. I also have several of Inu Yasha’s too!” he snickered as he rose and walked over to one of his shelves. He pulled down two jars, one was about a third full of fangs, where the other only had a few. He set the jars on a table in front of Totosai.
He noticed that neither was labeled, but it was obvious who’s was which. “Got some lucky shots in did he?” Totosai chuckled as he lifted the lighter of the two jars looking for just the right one.
“Hai.” Tasio responded as he sat down again, chuckling himself in remembrance. “Such a surprise it was, it startled them both that he did. And oh, did the brawl really heat up than! I ended up having to toss out all the furniture, repaint the walls after a complete scrub down, and replaced the carpeting in four rooms. It took me knocking out Sess to make him stop, and even then he was still growling. Thankfully they haven’t gotten to that extreme since.” he shook his head.
Totosai reached in the jar and pulled out his chosen item, setting the jar down to inspect the little bit of incisor. “This will do perfectly. Now all I need to do is find a way to combine this with a bit of miko power, or will her’s be enough to complete the energy of the blade?” he pondered aloud to himself.
Tasio frowned a she listened to Totosai speak. “What about if you made the blade, but kept it incomplete, and when you give it to her have her send some of her ki into the blade, having it fixed with her signature. Thereby any decedents of hers and Sesshomaru’s would be able to use the blade, but no others?” he suggested.
He looked at his friend, pondering what he said. “That could work. It wouldn’t take much, and it then does have the benefit of staying within the family.” he chuckled as he took out a cloth to wrap the fang into, and set it within his pocket. “Now my old friend, since the business is done, how have you been for these past few centuries hmm?” he asked as he settled back into his chair to catch up on old times with his friend.
Tasio shook his head. “Do you remember the fight that broke out between Yasha and Sess when I told them I wanted to step down as Ruler of the Western Lands? THAT was a brawl of all brawls!” he chuckled warmly.
~ * ~ * ~ * ~
Sango walked into her friend’s home, not thinking to knock as she hasn’t had to for several years. She wiped her eyes as she proceeded towards the kitchen where she could hear noises. ‘What a stupid baka I am! If Kohaku didn’t have to leave our sparring session early, I would have never have known.’ She sighed as she walked into the kitchen, her warm greeting dying on her lips as she faced the person in her best friend’s kitchen.
She took several quick and quiet strides to the interloper. “What the fuck are YOU doing here asshole?” she demanded as she grasped his shoulder and spun him around to face her. She wasn’t prepared for the reaction she got.
Inu Yasha had been standing at the sink, washing the dishes he had dirtied, when he felt the small hand on his shoulder, and the loud voice. His reflexes were swift as he spun himself around and grasped the hand on his shoulder as well as the one flying towards his face and pinned his assailant against the fridge with his body, hands pinned above their heads. He heard a gasp from her; he now realized his captive was female, as his claws tightened fractionally.
“Who are ...?” he started to ask when her light scent of sandalwood and apples hit his nose. “Sango?” he asked as he got a better look at her. ‘She’s changed some since I last seen her.’ he thought, but he caught the slight scent of tears from her as she stared up at him stunned. He frowned as he noticed the dried tracks her tears had made down her cheeks.
Sango didn’t move for a moment as she felt him pin her to the fridge. ‘When did he get so fast?’ She noticed his frown. ‘Great! Being an Inu he is he can probably smell my tears. Wait, why do I care? What the hell is he doing in Kagome’s house?’ she thought as she started to struggle.
“Let me go asshole! What do you think you’re doing in Kagome’s house, you bastard?” she panted as she arched to get him to release her. She panted as she continued in her rant, letting her pent up emotions flow, and unknown to her, tears as well. “It isn’t enough that you dropped her like she was some kind of bad disease? Then you and that slut you fuck start tormenting her and harassing her like she never meant anything to you! Never accepted you for ...”
Inu Yasha rode out her bucking and thrusting of her body to get him to release her. ‘She was still quite the hellion.’ He grunted as her body brushed against a sensitive part of his. He wanted to just drop his lips to hers, they looked so good. He had to stop this, before it really got out of hand and he throws her on the floor and fucks her senseless. He noticed the tears falling down her cheeks. ‘Damn! I have to.’ he thought as he fused his mouth to hers, cutting off her rant. “Ah! Her lips were soft, and delicious as ripe peach.’ He purred as she went still, pressing closer to her and nibbling gently on her lips than soothing them with his tongue, and seeking permission to enter her cavern
‘What the hell!’ was her thought as she felt warm, firm lips press against hers, and she stopped moving and felt him press against her body! ‘Oh damn! He is good at this.’ She felt his tongue rub over her lips seeking permission. She was helpless to refuse as she parted her lips, then moaned as his tongue swept past her teeth and swiped her own. She relaxed as he proceeded to explore every inch of her mouth than return to play some more with her tongue.
They were startled out of the lust induced fog that had them both in its grip when a heavy magnet fell to the floor. They pulled apart and looked in each others eyes, both breathing heavy.
Sango was the first to break the spell as she swept her tongue over her lips and spoke huskily. “Inu Yasha, could you release me now?” She wiggled her fingers above her captured wrists, and gave a hesitant grin. “Starting to lose feeling.” she nervously joked.
Yasha just stared at the vision in his grasp, and almost moaned when she licked her lips that were swollen from his kiss. He wanted to do nothing more than bury his face in her neck. Finally her words sunk in and he quickly released her, backing up several steps to get away from the temptation of her. He blinked the lust from his eyes and crossed his arms against his chest as he leaned against the counter, feigning indifference. “So, what are you doing here? Come to get Kagome to go to work? She’s out, but she will be back later. Feel free to come back later.” He said, only a slight trace of huskiness to his voice.
She looked at him as he reclined against the counter like he had the right to do so. She narrowed her eyes at him. “What do you mean ‘come back later’? I’m not leaving you alone in her house. You aren’t welcome here. You should be the one to leave!”
He raised an eyebrow in question. ‘Sometimes it does pay to watch Sess.’ He thought as her face started to turn slightly pink in indignation. “Why should I leave? I am part of her pack. She mated my brother, and we spoke this morning. He brought me back into the pack. I am her brother now.” He replied, watching the shock spread across her face and stiffen her body. ‘Kami what a body she possessed.’ He thought as his gaze once again raked her form, taking in her flat stomach and firm breasts. ‘Her hair is still long, and I would love to just bury my nose in it and take in her scent as I ...’ he cut off his thoughts as he could feel his clothes become warm and tight. He brought his gaze back up to meet hers; surprised that she still hasn’t said anything.
She was in shock. ‘He is her WHAT?’ She thought frantically. She knew about Inu’s and their packs being that she was a descendant of taijiya’s, she had some knowledge of what had happened. She narrowed her eyes at him as she noticed his eyes raking her form. She felt heat pool in her stomach at the heated look he was giving her. ‘Why am I reacting this way to him? Could it be I am just on the rebound?’ And that brought her back to why she was here at Kagome’s house in the first place. Her bottom lip quivered, as she tried to stop her tears. She let out a small sob as she felt her legs stop supporting her. But she didn’t hit the floor.
The scent of her tears hit his nose again, and he noticed her battling tears again. ‘I wasn’t mean about what I said, why is she going to cry? What has happened to ...’ But before he could finish the thought, he seen her legs buckle. He jumped forward to catch her before she landed in a heap on the floor. He gently lowered her down and cradled her head against his chest as sobs racked her body. He felt her tears wet his shirt, and she clutched at his arms. He used a claw to slice the binding holding her hair in place. He gently ran that claw through her hair as it fell down to her hips, releasing a gentle rumble from his throat seeking to sooth the woman in his arms.
Sango couldn’t believe she was receiving comfort from Inu Yasha! And he didn’t even know what was wrong. She gave another hic-sob as she released her grip on his shirt and leaned back wiping her face with one hand while the other still rested on his chest. “Gomen-na-sai, I didn’t mean to fall apart like this.” she said quietly, avoiding looking into his eyes. “Maybe you’re right, I should come back later when Kagome is here.” she said as she tried to completely extract herself from his arms. She heard a growl come from him and looked up to his face in surprise.
“You are not going anywhere.” he said, tightening his grip on her arms from where they had slid when she had initially pulled away. “There is something wrong, and I can’t let you leave while you’re like this.” He said matter-of-factly. “Come on, let’s get us up off the floor and have a seat. I’ve made a few snacks, so we can munch and have tea as you tell me what has happened.” he said as he pulled her to her unsteady feet, and gave her a small push towards the table.
Sango was silenced again and mutely followed his urging her to the table. She pulled out her chair and plopped down into it, not saying a word as he moved around the kitchen making tea and setting some peanut butter and chocolate chip cookies on the table in front of her. She watched him, still silent as he moved and brought a large carafe and two cups to the table.
“Do you still take your tea black?” He asked.
She nodded, still unable to separate this male in front of her and match him to the male who had almost broken her friend. She spoke up as he sat down in front of her. “Alright, who are you and what have you done to Inu Yasha?” she asked harshly.
He looked up and frowned at her as he placed her now full cup in front of her and reached to fill his own. “What are you babbling about woman? Feh! Nothing’s wrong with me.” He sat back and looked at her quizzically.
Sango’s ire was starting to peak. “What do you mean nothing is wrong with you? This isn’t the Inu Yasha that I know. He is a natural born ass, and has tormented my best friend with her cousin for the past several years! You can’t be the same moron. Did you have your personality re-wired or something?” She asked frowning at him, still not touching her tea.
Yasha released a breath and pursed his lips, looking at her considering. He leaned forward to push her cup at her to encourage her to drink. When she had taken a good pull and swallowed, he sat back. “Alright here’s the deal, you tell me what has your panties in a twist, and I’ll tell you why I have changed. Deal or no deal?” He asked holding out his claw.
She looked at him, thinking it over. ‘Makes no never mind to me if I tell him. It’s not like he cares or anything. What could it hurt?’ She mentally shrugged.
“Deal.” She agreed grasping his claw in her hand. She didn’t expect him to clasp her hand and pull it towards him, turning it over to kiss the back lightly before releasing it.
‘Now why did I do that?’ He questioned himself as she pulled her hand back to grasp her cup and take another pull of her tea, draining it. He reached for the carafe to refill her cup.
She watched as he refilled her cup, watching the play of his muscles along his arm. ‘What would it feel like to run my hands over them as he ...’ she cut off her thoughts with a mental shake. ‘No good going there, he has a girlfriend already, Kikyo.’ She looked at him sharply. “What about Kikyo? Don’t you think she will be angry that you are here in Kagome’s house?”
He sighed as he leaned back. “I wondered when you were going to ask about her. I’ll save the answer to that question for my explanation, as it is a part of it. Why don’t you tell me why you weren’t very shocked to find out that Kagome had mated my brother?” he returned.
She frowned at his skipping over her question, but answered his any way. “Alright. That is as good a place to start as any.” She then told him about going out for a walk before her sparring with her brother, and her meeting Kagome and Sesshomaru. She spoke briefly about her shortened session with her brother.
Sango took a deep breath. ‘This is where it gets harder.’ “I had obviously gone home after the aborted training and I found ...” she broke off as her throat tightened in memory. She looked up startled as Inu Yasha’s claw came out and grasped her hand encouraging her to complete her story.
She cleared her throat and started again. “When I let myself in to my apartment, I could hear giggling. At first I thought it was the T.V…. you remember how he was. Anyway, before I could call out I heard a voice breathlessly call out his name. I walked to the bedroom, our bedroom, to find him fucking the hell out of Kagura. He didn’t initially hear me, but when I screamed out ‘What the fuck are you doing?’ he jumped and rolled off her.” She paused for a breath and felt his claw squeeze her in encouragement, but she could also feel the tension in him starting to build.
She never felt the tears rolling down her cheeks as she continued with her story. “He kept saying it wasn’t what I thought, and got up to reach for me.” She smiled as she recalled what she did next. “I didn’t even think as he walked towards me naked, I grabbed his anniversary gift to me that was sitting on the dresser, a heavy pewter heart that had our names engraved on it with the phrase ‘Forever and Always’. I pitched the thing straight at him, he obviously dodged, but not enough as it fell and hit his foot.” She giggled.
“He let out such a girly scream. Then I walked over to where he was now sitting on the edge of the bed grasping his foot and I hit him. I hit him so hard he flew right back over the bed and landed sprawled against the wall. Then I turned to her, she hadn’t moved once except to pull MY sheet over her body. I looked at her and said very quietly ‘I think it is time for you to leave now. And take your trash with you.’ she quickly got up and threw her clothes on, and got him semi-dressed as he was coming to. As she was pulling his limping form out of the room I grasped his arm. I think he thought I was going to take him back because he had this hopeful gleam in his eye. I just held out my hand for his keys, which after a moment he fished out of his pocket. As he dropped them into my hand I told him that I was going to pack up his stuff for him so don’t bother asking, I would call him when I was done for him to pick up his shit. Then I walked them both to the door. As he had turned around after stepping out to say some thing to me I just looked at him and shut the door and locked it.”
She took in another deep breath to calm her racing nerves. She reached with her unoccupied hand to drink some more of her tea, and then continued with her story. “When I turned around, I was still really mad, so I packed up all his stuff right then and there, I had also called a locksmith who said he would be over in about half an hour. I never realized that he didn’t have a lot of stuff, he was just mooching off me. After I had everything packed the locksmith was there. He changed the lock really quickly and handed me the key and asked if I wanted another, I told him no that there was no one else living here anymore. He had this light that came into his eye, one of respect. He asked me if I had just gotten rid of him, when I answered yes he said that there was a fellow downstairs who was looking kinda blue and described him to me. I told him that was my ex and he offered to help me take his stuff downstairs to him. I accepted and so we dragged the junk down. The locksmith explained to me in the elevator that he had caught his wife cheating on him and didn’t toss her out until he ended up catching her at it again not too much after, she had said it was a one time thing, like he did. He applauded me for being strong.
"He then offered to take everything down to him himself. I said he didn’t have to, I wanted to look him in the eye as I told him it was now completely over. The locksmith kept pace with me as we walked to where he was seated on the steps. I set the box I was carrying down, as did the locksmith. He just looked up at me with his oh-so innocent face. I told him we were through, and for him to get his sorry carcass off my property. He said he wanted to explain, but I refused to let him. No amount of excuses would ever make me forgive him.”
She sighed as she paused in her telling, rubbing the bridge of her nose to ward off the slight headache she felt building. “The short end of it is that Kagura came back and helped him get his crap and leave. The locksmith decided not to charge me for changing my locks, he was very proud of me and how I stood up for myself. When he left I didn’t feel like being alone, and I remembered that Kagome had invited me over. I figured enough time had passed, so I came over. And here I am, pouring my heart out to you.” She finished. Not once during her story did she look at him. How could she? She didn’t want to see the pity in his gold eyes; it would make her feel worse than she already did.
Inu Yasha sat through her entire story, not once interrupting her, just reaching out at one time to clasp her hand in encouragement. ‘What kind of kusotare did that? I know what I did to Kagome was a hell of a sight worse, and I can only thank the Kami’s for their grace in allowing her to forgive me for my actions.’ He was also angry. Really angry, and didn’t have a reason as to why. ‘Could I have feelings for her? I remember Father saying that when Tasio men fell for their mates, they fell hard and fast, nothing could stop their drop. That was certainly true of Sess with Kagome.’ He mused. He noticed her shifting in her seat and not looking at him. He frowned. He didn’t like it when she wouldn’t look at him.
He tightened his grip on her hand and brought it back to his mouth to run his lips over the soft skin covering the back. His gaze captured hers as she looked at him startled. “He is an ass for letting you slip through his grasp.” He turned her hand over and nipped at her palm, his eyes drooping to half-mast as he soothed the hurt with his tongue.
Sango couldn’t pull away from the sensation of his lips and now tongue on her hand. She could feel that heat return to her stomach as he continued to lap at her palm. She gasped as his lips traveled up to her wrist, gently sucking on the skin there. She was sure he could feel her racing pulse. “Yasha,” she breathed out, not knowing if it was to encourage or protest.
He groaned at her breathless version of his name. * I bet we can make her moan our name, and loudly.* His beast spoke slyly. ‘Hai, I’m sure we could. But for now we must desist. She isn’t ready to completely accept us, and if we push she could just flee instead.’ He reasoned as his lips returned to her hand and kissed each finger before pulling his mouth away reluctantly. ‘We have to take this a little slowly for her so she doesn’t think she is on the rebound from that kusotare.’ He heard his beast whine but felt its agreement.
Yasha sat back and swallowed all of his now cold tea, reaching to refill both of their cups, but not releasing her captured hand. “I guess it is my turn for my story.” He sighed as he resettled her clasped hand to twine her fingers with his claws, keeping the contact that himself and his beast seemed to want.
He explained about his initial thoughts of Kikyo possibly cheating on him, and how he had been having second thoughts and many regrets of his behavior towards Kagome. “But it didn’t really come to a head until last night when we went to dinner and ran into Kagome and Sesshomaru. Kikyo and I were sitting eating, and all she was doing was complaining. And all I could think about was my very disrespectful behavior towards the only person who really accepted me for me.”
Yasha sighed and ran an agitated claw through his hair. “I realized then what an ass I had become, and all I could think of was how in the world I was going to apologize to her for those years, and hoped that she would forgive me.” He grinned slightly in memory. “So this morning when I showed up, I have to admit I did lose my temper a bit, but then Sess showed and after some discussion, I was forgiven and welcomed into their pack. And the rest as they say is history.” he said as he sat back and finished off his cup of tea.
Sango looked at him for a moment. “That doesn’t explain why you are still here while they are gone.” she pointed out as she reached to refill both their cups, and grabbed a cookie.
He looked sheepish. “I kinda got myself conned into making a dinner of food that Sess and I used to eat when we were younger. I have everything prepped; I’m just waiting for them to show so I can start getting it ready.” He looked at her slyly. “There is enough if you want to join us.”
Sango looked at him startled. “I couldn’t impose ...”
He snorted as he stood up and grabbed the carafe to refill it with hot stuff. “You wouldn’t be imposing! You’re like family to Kagome. After all, you were there for her when I wasn’t ...” he trailed off himself.
She stood up sharply, startling him out of his thoughts. “Don’t even go there! She forgave you and would be upset that you are still beating yourself up over it since it has been settled. So knock it off!” she huffed.
He looked at her stunned at her little outburst. He mentally shook his head to clear it, and took a deep breath. “You’re right. It is time to put the past in the past.” He was about to go on when a knock sounded at the door. He looked at her quizzically. “You had best go get it as I don’t know anyone who would come to see her.”
She shrugged, but motioned for him to follow but stay out of sight. She didn’t know why, but was very grateful considering who was on the other side.
*Knock, Knock* “Kagome! I have to talk to you! I need to know where Sango is! Please Kagome!” A masculine voice yelled.
Sango stood perfectly still, and then reached forward to yank the door open angrily. “What the fuck do you think you are doing here Miroku? I have NOTHING I want to say to you! So you can just go to hell!” As she was about to slam the door shut, he reached out and stopped its forward motion.
“Please Sango!” He pleaded as he open the door again to face her. “I love you! I don’t know how it happened. Please Sango, don’t throw away all our years of being together. They have to count for something!” He pleaded as he moved to get closer.
“Stop! This isn’t your house and you have no right to step into it you cheating bastard!” She yelled. “Get out! I’ve said all I want to say to you! You knew this is the one thing I would NEVER forgive you for! I don’t care how it happened. It did, and that is what matters.” she sighed and finally noticed that her hair was loose from its tail as she raked her hands through the strands agitated. “Go back to Kagura, Miroku it’s obvious she can give you something I can’t.” She was about to turn and walk back inside when his hand suddenly gripped her forearm.
“Sango. I said I was sorry and it will never happen again. Why don’t we just go back to the apartment and ...” he cajoled.
But he never got to finish the sentence as her arm was suddenly ripped from his grasp and he was dangling several inches off the ground with a very pissed off hanyou holding him in his claws. “Don’t you ever come near her again you worthless kusotare! I can smell the scent of several different women off you, not including Sango’s. This is not the first time, and I doubt it will be the last. Go on your way and never bother this woman or her friends and family again, or you will have me and my pack to deal with you!” Inu Yasha growled as he shook the human then tossed him down to the ground.
Miroku choked in air for a moment while he got his bearings. He noticed Sango staring at Inu Yasha in surprise. He frowned as he got up off the ground and dusted himself off. He glared at the hanyou who was standing protectively in front of her. “What would you know about this? It isn’t any of your business, so back off! And what pack?” he scoffed, not noticing the raising ire of said hanyou. “You are a worthless hanyou, and no pack would accept you into its ranks!”
Inu Yasha was barely suppressing his need to transform and kick the shit out of the human. He growled loudly and fought hard. “Stupid human!” he snarled, startling both humans with the darkness of his beast in his voice, showing them how close he was to losing the battle. “I have every right as she is like a sister to my pack alpha! I will protect her as will they when they hear of your behavior this day!” He felt Sango reach out and grasp his left biceps while stroking her hand down his spine to attempt to sooth him.
Miroku was practically shaking, but he needed to know who he was connected to. “W ... who are your pack alpha’s?” he stammered, trying to show little of his rising fear.
Yasha snorted as he smelt the males fear. “Sesshomaru” he growled with glee, not paying attention to the sound of a vehicle approaching.
Miroku frowned even as he shook and unknowingly spoke out loud. “Sesshomaru has no pack. He is Taiyoukai and has no need of a pack as he isn’t mated.” He froze as a voice colder then the Arctic winds spoke from behind him.
“I have a mate human, though it concerns you not. Why are you questioning my brother and pack mate’s word?”

I want to thank my beta, Inu~Lover for her extreem patience in dealing with my strangness and issues. YOU'RE THE BEST!!!
Please leave a review, they make my muse happy, and they help me gear how you like/or not like my story.
