Behind Blue Eyes

Chapter Twenty-Three

A/N: Going to throw a song in here cause I feel like being mushy and I was also listening to it while writing chapter. Think of it like you would a song fic. Kay! (Its, Behind Blue Eyes by Limp Bizkit)

Kagome ran down the long hall, every step causing pain to shoot through her heart.

"No one knows what its like to be the bad man
to be the sad man, behind blue eyes
And no one knows what its like to be hated
to be fated to telling only lies."

An image of the anger on Yomi's face flashed through her mind as her hand finds the control panel.

"But my dreams they aren't as empty
as my conscious seems to be
I have hours, only lonely, my love is vengeance
thats never fade."

The door slids open letting her through, his angry voice echoes through her mind telling her once more to get out.

"No one knows what its like to feel these feelings
like I do, can I blame you?
No one bites back his heart on their anger
none of my pain will, can show through."

The cold rain hits her face as she runs out into the courtyard.

"But my dreams they aren't as empty
as my conscious seems to be
I have hours, only lonely, my love is vengeance
thats never fade."

Images of Kurama's eyes tear through her, eyes filled with anger meant for her. They spoke of betrayal, disgust and dislike. She hits her knees in front of the large tree, landing in the mud. She leans forward as the tears wrack her body.

"Will no one know what its like to be mistreated
to be defeated, behind blue eyes
And no one knows how to say that they're sorry
and don't worry, how I'm not telling lies"

She places her face in her hands, remembering the day they both turned on her.

"But my dreams they aren't as empty
as my conscious seems to be
I have hours, only lonely, my love is vengeance
thats never fade."

Two voices ring in her mind, "Get out." "I'm not, ever."

"No one knows what its like to be the bad man
to be the sad man, behind blue eyes."

Kagome continued to let the sobs take her as her heart began to shatter. Sesshoumaru had been wrong, she'd known that she meant nothing to either of them. He'd given her false hope, for something that could never be. She was still weak, to weak to fight for what she wanted. The pain was too much for her.

A pair of arms wrapped around her, she didn't struggle when she recognized them. She hurt too much, to fight or struggle. The arms pulled her close to a hard chest, holding her still. A hollow feeling settled inside her, denying her the fear she should of felt.

"I don't need to ask what happened in here, I could smell it as soon as the door opened." Kurama walked up to him. "What are you going to do when he finds out?"

Yomi leaned against the headboard, "I don't know."

"Are you willing to fight for her?" Kurama asked.

"Yes, aren't you." But the question that pained him was would she want him to.

"I plan to." Kurama sat down on the bed facing away from the man. "I was on my way to tell you, when she came out."

"Are you willing to fight me for her?" Yomi asked. Not that it mattered to him. Deep down he still cared for the fox as a friend.

"Yes, but that will be up to her."

"Agreed." Yomi settled back in the bed, feeling a little better having told Kurama of his plans on claiming the girl. "Do we talk to her in the morning?"

"Yes, I'm sure she's returned to him by now." Kurama left the room and entered his own.
