Homecoming and Revelations

This probably should have been two chapters but I was ready to finish it. This chapter is rated NC-17 for violence and Yaoi.

Homecoming and Revelations

"Coyote Fang!"
A blast of spirit energy slammed into the monster driving it back but it didn't lose its grip on the Kitsunes. The Demon looked up at the warehouse entrance where Kit stood holding a glowing Sliver Fang.

Kit charged and dodged the first couple of tentacles but the three that followed caught him and pinned him to the wall.
"Wait your turn foreigner." The Demon said and turned back to Toshiro.
"Now where were we, Fox Boy?"

Kit stopped struggling and glared at the monster. Silver Fang was beyond his reach. He watched as the monster leaned over Toshiro and railed at his helplessness. His inability to protect Hanako, to save Yuriko and now Toshiro; somewhere deep inside him something snapped, like a door opening on something he had never known before. It was like the blood rage only different, cold controlled, powerful.
His eyes glowed as he slowly muttered.
"You will not harm my friends!"

The voice dominated the warehouse drawing everyone’s attention. Kit was ablaze in spirit energy.
“Impossible!” The Demon said. “No Hanyou is that powerful!”
Realizing the odds had suddenly changed; he tossed Toshiro aside and charged Kit.
“I am the son of Coyote! And you will not harm my friends!” Kit said, his voice echoing. He seemed almost in a trance. “Feel the power of the Coyote’s Howl!”
An incredibly powerful blast of spirit energy shot forth from Kit. The lead edge of the energy blast took the shape of lunging coyote, fangs bared to attack. The Demon flung his protective wings around him to no avail. The blast tore straight through him, wings and all, and he let out a horrendous shriek as he was torn asunder.

The guard at the gate saw the warehouse flare up like the sun and then a massive explosion tore the roof off the structure. Inside the ruined structure, Kit stood wavering, his eyes unfocused, as ichor and burning ramen cups fell all around him. Shippo and Toshiro rushed to his side.
“Kit!” They cried.
The Coyote continued to stare straight ahead.
“I’m not helpless,” he said weakly and collapsed helplessly into their arms.

They were driving back towards the house. Kit was curled up in the back seat with his head resting in Shippo’s lap. He occasionally twitched and jerked in his sleep. The car radio was carrying a report on the ‘propane tank’ explosion that destroyed a warehouse at the Ninja Foods site.
“Father,” Toshiro said turning the radio down. “I know most Demons underestimate Hanyous like me but the monster was right, that blast was more than a normal Hanyou could have done.”
“You haven’t seen Inuyasha in the final battles with Naraku. Kit’s father is a Tai-Youkai, a great Demon, just like Inuyasha’s. I suspect he is considerably more powerful than any of us imagine. He has just never been tested before so that power has not manifested before now.”
Kit groaned and opened his eyes.
“Where am I?” He asked looking up at Shippo. “Shippo? What happened?”
“You blew up the Demon and most of my warehouse.”
“I did?”
“Yes, we are on our way home now.”
“Oh.”

“Papa!” Hanako jumped up and leapt into Kit’s arms as they walked into the house.
“Hi,” Kit said hugging the kit tightly. “Did you behave for Yoshi?”
“Yes!” She said happily. “This place is magic with balls that glow and he showed me TV!”
She took in his torn clothes and appearance.
“You’re dirty.” She said.
“Yes,” Kit laughed. “My friends and I had a mess to clean up and now we are the mess.”

He put her down and led her over to the others.
“Hanako, this is Uncle Shippo.”
Kit watched to see her reaction as she picked up his scent.
“He smells like my friend Shippo.”
“In a way, your friend and I are very closely related.” Shippo said bending down to be at her level.
“Okay.” Hanako said accepting this explanation.
“And this is Uncle Toshiro.”
“Hi,” Toshiro waved.
“Hi,” she waved back.

“Well I think its time for you to go to bed.” Kit said.
“Yes,” Shippo agreed. “I have a room for you to sleep in that is all yours. Yoshi, would you do me the favor of settling her in. The rest of us need to clean up.”

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Kit made it half way to the bathroom before he collapsed again.
“Whoa, you’re pretty much spent. Let us help you.” Shippo said as he and Toshiro each took an arm.
They bathed him and themselves and settled down for a soak in the large tub.
“You haven’t even asked me about Hanako.” Kit said as he closed his eyes and relaxed in the hot water.
“I think the mating mark you bear explains it well enough.” Toshiro said. “The mother is…?”
“Dead,” Kit finished for him.
“I think there is time enough to discuss it tomorrow.” Shippo’s tone making it clear that Toshiro should drop the subject. “Kit has exhausted his spirit energy and right now needs to rest and recover.”

“I’m fine,” Kit said and started to get up only to fall back into the water.
“Yea right,” Shippo said pulling his head back out of the water.
The Kitsunes helped him out, dried him off and practically carried him back to his room.
“Hanako,” Kit said as Shippo directed him towards the bed.
“Toshiro will check on her, she will be fine.” Shippo said looking at his son, who nodded and left them alone.

He helped Kit out of his robe and into bed. He started to get up when Kit suddenly grabbed his arm.
“I don’t think I can stand being alone right now, please stay.”
Shippo looked at him and nodded. Turning off the light, he slipped off his own robe and climbed in with Kit. Kit cuddled up against him and they lay quietly in the dark for a while. Then Kit began shudder and Shippo felt hot tears on his chest.
“I couldn’t save her, I should have saved her.”
“There was nothing you could have done. It wasn’t your fault.” Shippo said quietly and hugged the sobbing Coyote closer. Kit eventually fell asleep as Shippo held him tight, tears wetting his own eyes.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Early in the morning hours, Shippo awoke to Kit violently tossing in the grip of a nightmare. He woke him and gathered him into his arms and they lay embracing each other. Shippo’s hands stroked Kit’s back to comfort him. Kit pulled Shippo closer and before Shippo realized it the stroking became more passionate. Kit kissed Shippo’s neck and shoulder as his hand slid down the Kitsune’s side to grip and stroke Shippo’s growing hardness.
“Kit, I’m not sure…” Shippo said but was silenced by Kit’s passionate “Please.”
With a minimum of preparation, Kit pulled Shippo on top of him. Shippo kissed him as he slid slowly into Kit’s waiting depths. Their love making was hard and passionate, driven by a deep need they both had until with a muffled cry Shippo stiffened and emptied himself into the Coyote. Kit clawed at Shippo’s back leaving red scratches as his hot spunk splattered itself over their sweaty torsos.

They collapsed into each others arms, sweat covered and exhausted. Shippo nuzzled at Kit’s neck, he could sense Yuriko’s mark on Kit. Even though he knew she was gone, the mark would not fade for some time. By instinct and respect for her, passion and comfort was all Shippo could give or take from Kit until then.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Shippo had already gotten up when Kit awoke later that morning. Kit felt considerably better. He got up and dressed. The sound of Hanako laughing as he entered the hall led him to her new room. Toshiro was playing with her.
“Good Morning, Kit.” Toshiro said.
“Good Morning, Papa.”

Kit watched as Hanako giggled in delight as Toshiro made little dancing motions with a large stuffed Pikachu doll. Kit looked at the elaborately decorated room.
‘Shippo must have started this just after I left’ Kit thought confused. ‘How did he…?’
Kit reached into his ether space pocket and pulled out the letter Kagome had returned to him. He hadn’t had a chance to look at before now. Opening it he read in English:

Kagome, please don’t let Inuyasha kill him! He is only protecting his family; his name is Kit and he comes from America. He speaks English and will not harm Shippo.
It was signed simply “A Friend.”

Toshiro looked up at the sound of the paper ripping as Kit’s claws tore the paper in two as they clenched.
“Kit?”
The coyote didn’t answer him as he stood up and stormed out of the room.

Shippo was sitting in the common room taking a sip of tea when Kit stomped into the room holding the tattered remains of the letter in his hand.
“You knew didn’t you!?” Kit yelled.
Shippo slowly without looking up set down his tea cup on the table.
“Yes I did” Shippo said without looking up.

Kit grabbed the table and flung it to the side sending it crashing through the patio door.
“YOU FUCKING BASTARD!” he yelled as he charged the startled Kitsune. Shippo barely had time to stand before Kit’s fist connected with his left cheek sending flying back into the wall. Kit followed him grabbing him by the front of his kimono and shaking him.
“WHY?”

“I wanted to tell you Kit, Gods know I wanted too. I went to Lord Koenma and asked for his guidance if there was any way I could warn you or change what happened. He told me that it had to be this way.”

**Flashback**
“Ah Shippo” Koenma said “it is good to see you again.”
“Thank you, Lord Koenma it is good to see you again also.”
“Well straight to business. After the excellent job you did with the Queen of Shadows incident, I gave your missive very special consideration.”
“Thank you for that, Koenma sir.”
“Don’t thank me yet” Koenma said “I’m afraid the answer is no.”

“Sir please there must be a way, how can I stand by and not warn him, how can I just do nothing when we could save her?”
“Believe me when I say I wish that there were. I put my finest precogs to work on the question. Precognition is not a precise science when seeing into the future but it is extremely accurate when looking into past events and what will happen to the present if they are altered. Kit’s presence and Yuriko’s sacrifice are essential if the present is not to be changed.”
“But surely I can warn him at least?”
“No we looked at all the possibilities, if you warn him or interfere in anyway to try and save Yuriko it will set in motion a series of events that will result in Yamanasu not being defeated. In the end he would destroy Inuyasha and Naraku would come to dominate Japan for centuries.

*End Flashback*

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Tears poured down Kit’s face, “Why?” he asked again.
“It would have changed history,” Shippo answered, the pain evident in his voice.
Kit sobbed for a moment and then suddenly his anger flared again; he drew back his fist to strike again. Shippo made no move to defend himself.
“No Papa. Heel!” Hanako’s voice shrieked from behind him. Kit’s face became intimate with the floor and the rest of his body followed. Everyone froze for a moment in shock. Kit slowly freed himself of the spell and sat up to look at Toshiro in the doorway, a terrified Hanako clutching and crying into his shirt. Slowly Kit’s anger died. He stood with his back to Shippo.
“Hanako and I will go back to Spirit Peak” he said to the room in general and started towards his room.
“No,” Shippo said picking himself up, “Kit, for Hanako’s sake, I beg you to stay here.”
Kit ignored him and walked out of the room.

Kit proceeded to his room and almost mechanically pulled his suitcase out of the closet. He tossed it on the bed and then just stared at it.
“Kit?” Toshiro said coming in behind him.
“What do you want?”
“Kit, I understand how you feel.”
“Do you!?” Kit said an edge on his voice.
“Alright maybe not but regardless of what he has done to you, you need to consider Hanako. She needs to be around other Kitsunes if she is going to develop properly. Coyote magic and Kitsune magic is just too different for you to teach her. For her sake, I’m asking you to stay.”
Kit continued to stare at the suitcase for a second.
“I just don’t know if I can,” Kit said. “Tell me the truth; did you know anything about this?”
“No, he didn’t say anything about it to me.”

Kit turned to look at Toshiro’s face as if to judge how much he trusted the friendship the two had developed.
“I need to think,” he said at last. “Will you watch after Hanako for me?”
“Sure.”
“Thanks,” Kit said and walked out.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Kit lost all track of time as he wondered the streets of Tokyo not paying any particular attention to where he was roaming.

‘What to do? Toshiro’s right I can’t teach Hanako how to be a Kitsune. It wouldn’t be fair to her for me to try.’
Kit remembered the difficulties he had mastering his natural shape changing abilities. Master Llewelyn despaired that he would ever master his shape shifting capabilities and kept telling him how he was years behind in his development compared to his nearest cousins, the Amerind Skinwalkers. His daughter had suffered enough losing both parents, he could not deprive her of the contact with other Kitsune she needed regardless of his feelings. But the only Kitsune he knew in America was FX but FX was a spirit fox and wasn’t physically or, in Kit’s opinion, mentally up to tutoring a kit. There was little choice; the Sunset Clan was his only option.

But that left him with Shippo, the man who had loved and betrayed him. Deep down in his intellect a voice cried out in Shippo’s defense but Kit wasn’t listening. The remains of his broken mangled heart would not survive staying in that house.

“Woof!”
Kit turned at the direction of the bark. Just inside an open courtyard next to him was a large white dog, tail wagging happily. Kit picked up his scent.
“Hey,” Kit said walking over and squatting down the pet the dog. “I know you, your that dog I met roaming outside the Tendo’s house.”
“Woof!” the dog barked again as if acknowledging the recognition. The fact that the ‘strange dog’ he had met over a year ago now looked like a human didn’t faze his canine thinking in the least. Scents didn’t lie.
“So fella,” Kit said, “is this where you live?” Kit looked up at the old boarding house that had obviously seen better days.
‘Not too bad though,’ Kit thought. ‘It has a lived in look about it.’

Just then a woman stepped out of the front door.
“Oh pardon me,” she said. “Can I help you?”

It had taken Toshiro awhile to calm down Hanako. Now he was giving her a tour of Shippo’s gallery. Normally he would have asked his father’s permission before bringing her here but Shippo didn’t seem to be in the mood to talk to anyone right now.
‘It should be alright, as long as I keep an eye on her,” he thought.

“Pretty!” Hanako said pointing to a large landscape Shippo had done of the Sunset Shrine over a century ago before a lot of the more modern construction had occurred around it.
“Yes it is,” Toshiro said.
Hanako wandered the room ohing and ahing over various pictures when she came to the special section. She pointed at one of the pictures and her face lit up as she turned to look at Toshiro.
“Its you!” She said.
“Yes,” Toshiro laughed. “This section is dedicated to people who are special in father’s life. This wall is family, friends and clan members.”
Toshiro pointed to different pictures on the more crowded wall.
“This is my sister, Natsuko; my little brother and sister, Miroku and Sango; and that one is Kuronue; that is Yoko…”
Toshiro pointed to the different pictures naming the occupants in each. Hanako recognized Inuyasha and his companions. Hanako then turned to the other far less crowded wall.
“Who are they?”
“These are my father’s lifemates,” Toshiro said.
“Lifemates?”
“Yes they are very special people that Shippo loved very much,” Toshiro explained and then began pointing them out. “This is Natsuko’s mother, Jun’ko she was human like my mother, Kiyoko. Next is Mitsu, Miroku and Sango’s mother she was Kitsune.”
Toshiro looked sadly at the picture of Mitsu. Hanako reached up and pulled the cover off the picture hanging at the end of the row. Smiling in recognition she turned to Toshiro and pointed.
“Kit!”

Toshiro stared in shock; he had been so preoccupied he hadn’t even noticed that a new picture had been hung. There was Kit. The picture’s background was a mesa’s out of the American West, Kit depicted as an Amerind warrior in elaborately decorated loincloth and headband. He stood holding Silver Fang in one hand and his Spirit Shield in another. The picture was amazingly life like considering Toshiro knew Kit hadn’t actually posed for it.
“Gods,” was all Toshiro could say as he considered the implication of this picture’s location.

Kit was sitting in the back corner of a little okonomiyaki shop called Ucchan’s when Toshiro came in carrying a bag and leading Hanako. Toshiro had dressed her in a cute bonnet and dress that hid her ears, tail and feet.
“I brought what you asked for,” Toshiro said as they joined him. “So you won’t be coming back to the house?”
“No, I found a small apartment. Hanako can study being a Kitsune with you or someone from the clan; I’ll trust your judgment on that. I’d like her to stay with me for tonight and tomorrow we can discuss a schedule for her.”
Kit looked down lovingly at Hanako who was busy digging into her okonomiyaki.
“I expect she will spend a lot of time with you and Shippo so she can enjoy the room you set up with her. Ok?”

“That’s fine,” Toshiro said. “But Kit you know you are welcome also.”
“I can’t Toshiro, not now.”
“Kit, I know you need time but you need to talk to him.”
Kit sat silent for a moment then handed Toshiro a slip of paper.
“This is where you can contact me,” he said.
Toshiro looked at the paper, “Maison Ikokou #3.”

Kit rose, took the bag and Hanako’s hand.
“Are we going back to Uncle Shippo’s?”
“No dear, we’re going to stay at my new place tonight.”
“Ok,” she said innocently.
“Say goodnight to Uncle Toshiro.”
“Goodnight Uncle Toshiro.”
“Goodnight,” Toshiro answered.

Kit and Hanako turned to leave.
“Kit,” Toshiro said. “He really loves you, you know.”
Kit paused. “I know but it doesn’t make any difference.”
Toshiro watched as Kit and Hanako walked out the door.

The End for Now.

Authors Note and Survey: When I first started writing the Coyote Tricks stories, I had intended the relationship between Kit and Shippo to be a casual relationship. When I started defining that relationship in Outfoxed; however, the relationship developed into something much greater and significant. I am now at a turning point, the next couple of stories in the works will have Kit and Shippo estranged but I need to decide how that relationship is eventually going to resolve itself. So I’m asking the readers their opinion, do you think these two should get back together eventually or go their separate ways? You can comment in reviews to this story or to my feedback address at Stardreamer_90@yahoo.com. Let me know how you feel.
