I didn’t want to ruin the effect of the last chapter by posting a bunch of comments at the end ofthe fic, so I made a separate entry for them. LOL, yes, I know Sesshoumaru was horribly out of character at the end of this chapter, but I
thought it was time the Western Lord experienced a little character development.Rin? A Mary-Sue? If she is, you have no one but Takahashi to blame. She’s unforgivingly kind
to everyone. I swear the way Takahashi portrays her, the little girl doesn’t have a vindictive bone
in her body. If I truly wanted to be true to Rin’s character, she barely would’ve batted an eye
when she discovered Sesshoumaru had taken a mistress. Sesshoumaru knows best, after all.
And though she may have pouted about it, as long as he let her stay around in some capacity
Takahashi’s Rin would have been pleased. She’s that devoted to Sesshoumaru and has no regard
for her own welfare where he’s concerned. But if that were the case, there would have been no
conflict in this fic, and a story without conflict isn’t a story at all.And if I were totally true to Sesshoumaru’s character, he wouldn’t have been as manipulative as I
made him. Sess is a straight shooter. If there’s something he wants, he goes after it directly.
But, as with Rin, if I didn’t make Sesshoumaru so sneaky and underhanded, again, my conflict
would have gone out of the window. However, I could’ve written a different fic. LOL, Rin gets
sick, Sesshoumaru tells her about it and the cure to be found in the hands of a female bog demon.
They bring in Dokumi, she refuses to help them because she hates him and his family, then he
kills her for disobeying a direct command. Rin and Sesshoumaru then spend the rest of the fic
finding ways to please one another without actually engaging in intercourse ^ ^But, that’s not the fic I chose to write. This was only my second Sess/Rin fic, any way, and my
writing has matured a great deal since then. I posted it here in April, but I actually began writing
it in December of 2003, lol. The original version is still on mediaminer, lol.As for Dokumi, she was never meant to be the “bad guy.” As Rin said, she hurt other people
because she was hurt, herself. Once the hurt stopped, she was free to be more of herself–the
woman InuTaisho cared enough for to take her to his bed and attempt to see that she was
properly cared for after she became pregnant with their child. *shrugs* That’s what I was going
for, any way.But . . . that concludes the feudal soap opera of “Bitter Blood.” If you liked it, or are simply
