Truth

During the next two months, Sesshomaru planned with his generals. They wanted to have the final battle before the first snowfall. There had been several smaller ones, most of them successful. But the demon lord had yet to participate in any of them.

Everything was set except for one thing. Which way were they going to take? Little was known about the Black dogs land. Even their spies and scouts were little help; for whenever they went to look they were either killed or had to retreat before barely getting past the borders. There were only the main paths they knew of but they would be heavily guarded and by the time they reached their destination they would be at a huge disadvantage from numbers.

On this particular day, though, Sesshomaru was alone, thinking in his study. It was early November and the temperature had dropped considerably. Rin was no longer aloud to play outside for fear of her becoming sick. Sesshomaru was unaffected by the weather and it didn’t seem Auko minded much either.

Sesshomaru was looking out the window in deep thought. Auko had been in there with him moments ago, but left for a few minutes. He turned to look at his desk and at the small black book that lay on it. He’d seen his lover writing in it numerous times. But she had forbidden him from ever reading or looking at its contents. The restriction on it made the demon want to look t evt even more. What could Auko have in there that he couldn’t see?

Some how his body took him over to that book. His hands picked it up. Where was his self-control, honestly? Nimble fingers undid the clasp and opened up the pages. It seemed only about a third of the pages were covered, front and back. Scanning over the contents, it seemed to a sort of diary/planner. There were important memos, reminders, lists, directions, and entries. The last few were about her stay here. One side note in particular, caught his attention. It read: REMEMBER-He likes it when you use your hands. A small smile played on Sesshomaru’s lips.

The demon flipped through the pages not seeing anything really interesting. At least nothing that would make the small book off limits. Once he reached the first entry, Sesshomaru had decided that there wasn’t anything truly in the book for him to read it. Before he pu bac back, though, something tucked away between the leather and cover caught his eye. He pulled it out and unfolded the surprising large piece of paper. The book dropped to the floor…

Sesshomaru read the title of the piece of paper again. His eyes ran over the colorful and detailed map. This couldn’t be? Why did she? What was Auko doing with a map of Black Dog territories? Was this why he hadn’t been able to read it? His mind worked fast to put the pieces together and he honestly didn’t like the answer.

About 20 minutes later Auko came back to the study. Sesshomaru was standing by the window again, book and map on his desk. Auko walked over to pick-up her book, not wanting to disturb if he was thinking, only to discover that it lay open.

The silver-haired demon heard his sex partner gasp, bviobvious clue she had seen the book. Turning around, Sesshomaru faced a now exasperated Auko, holding both the book and map.

“Put those back down Auko,” Sesshomaru ordered.

“You looked at my diary….” Auko whispered.

“I said put them back down,” Sesshomaru repeated.

Auko did the opposite. First she folded up the map and placed it back where it had been then latched the book close. The demon lord watched as she headed for door.

“Where yre you going? We’re not done.” Sesshomaru’s voice had become a lot colder.

“As far as I see it, we are.” Auko stopped just a few feet before the doors. Sesshomaru now stood between them and her and didn’t look like he was going to let her pass.

“We haven’t even started.” Auko could see the anger in his eyes, but didn’t let that stop her own from showing. “Why do you have that?”

“It’s none of your business!” Auko shouted.

“None of my business?” Sesshomaru grabbed the human by the shirt and pushed her up against the wall. “We’re going to war with them and you say it’s none of my business…” His temper was quickly growing. “For all I know, you could be my enemy now.” He slammed her against the wall.

“What the hell are you talking about?! I’d never join them!” Auko was gripping onto his wrist.

“The hell you wouldn’t. How do I know you’re not one of their spies sent here to gather information. We’re you suppose to seduce me and try to get me to drop my guard as well, or was that just a bonus on your part.”

“Sesshomaru put me down! You don’t know what you’re talking about!”

“Then start explaining!” His harsh voice was creeping her out but she fought the feeling away.

“I shouldn’t have to explain anything to you!”

Sesshomaru held up his other hand, putting his fingers together ready to strike her. “Wrong answer.”

“Just try it!” Auko put a foot on his shoulder.

Sesshomaru looked straight into her eyes and looked for anything that would resemble great fear or weakness. All he found was boiling anger and worry. That was all he could smell as well. Listening to his senses, he put down his hand and let go of Auko. As soon as she touched the ground she swatted his hand away.

Auko smoothed out her clothes trying to catch her breath. Her heartbeat had speeded up a little. She’d never really seen this side of Sesshomaru.

“If you’re not with them then why do you have that? And why didn’t you mention it to me?”

Auko didn’t say anything at first. She didn’t want to tell him how she had gotten. It wasn’t any of his business anyways. But if she didn’t tell him, he might do something drastic.

“Auko!” Auko snapped out of her daze at his voice.

“Fine! Just stop yelling!” Auko spat. “The reason I have this map is because I made. When I was younger, The Black Dogs attacked my village and killed my parents. In order to save my sister and I, I volunteered to scout his lands for a year and record everything I saw. Of course I wasn’t about to let him get away with what he had done and made my own map for future use.”

Sesshomaru took in what she had said. Thinking about it only angered him more than he thought it would. “Still, why didn’t you tell me you had it? We could have used it.”

“Because one: It’s not yours. Two: It’s hard to read and you would have asked me to be a guide and I didn’t want to do it.”

“Why not? You want revenge don’t you?”

Auko turned her back to the demon. “Because…”

“Auko…”

“That doesn’t matter right now! Why did you look at this after I told you not to!”

“Is there something else in there that I wasn’t suppose to see?”

There was a pause. “Did you read any of it?” she asked, not shouting anymore.

“Just a few things from you’re last entries.”

“Anything else?”

“No.”

“Good.” Auko opened the door.

“Auko.”

“We’ll talk about this more later,” she said with ing ing to look at. Then she left.
