Chapter 23

When they finally got back into the house it was too late to make any thing so they ordered pizza and vegged out on the couch watching movies until Kagome dozed off and Sesshoumaru carried her off to bed with a nod to the others.

After they left Souta looked to Kouga, “So, he really loves her, huh?” Kouga only nodded his head then left to head to bed as well.

“Sleep tight we have a busy day tomorrow, Kagome wants to take Sesshoumaru to her old school to show him off.” Kouga sighed and left the room rubbing the back of his head.

Inuyasha and Souta fell asleep in front of the television and left a mess for the maid to clean.

In the morning Kagome was the first one up as usual and started Breakfast which soon had everyone gravitating toward the dinning room.

Pancakes, bacon, sausage, and french toast were served and everyone ate like it was going out of style.

“Eat up, we have to leave in less than an hour. Its almost 8:30 now.” Kagome said cheerfully. Really she had a terrible feeling about the hole thing. She could feel that something was going to happen soon. But what she couldn’t say and it unnerved her big time.

Sesshoumaru could smell the unease on her as well as everyone else but no one said any thing. Souta could feel it best being the closest in blood to her, but he could not tell exactly what it was because it was murky and distorted because of the time they had spent apart.

When they were finished the dishes were cleared and left for the house keeper and maid to do.

Sesshoumaru and Kagome went up to there room so that Sesshoumaru could get ready. “Kagome what’s wrong?” He paused and pulled her towards him, “We can all feel that something is bothering you, even though you’re trying to hide it.” He sat on the bed and had her standing in between his open legs and her staring down upon him.

She stood silently for a few seconds, “I feel something bad coming, like something bad is going to happen, and I am not going to be able to stop it.”

Sesshoumaru pulled her into his embrace, “Do not fear, love we are going to be there to help you through it and we are going to be there to protect you, and I will kill before anyone hurts you.”

Kagome nodded her head, ‘Except it is not me that something bad is going to happen to.’ She thought as he pulled away to get in the shower.

“Im gonna go and sit with Kouga and Souta down stairs while you get ready.” She shouted into the bathroom as she walked by to leave the room.

Down stairs her brothers were drinking coffee and talking about the last couple of years because Kouga had not seen Souta either so they were catching up since Kouga had to work the day before.

Souta stopped and looked up well for she even entered the room, “ What is bothering you, Kagome?” He asked as she sat down beside Kouga.

Kouga pulled her to his side in a sort of side hug, with one arm around her shoulders. “I feel something bad is going to happen and it is not centered around me I can tell you that.” She said .

Souta rested his chin on his hand and looked thoughtful for a couple of minutes. Then he looked up as if remembering that the two of them were there again and asked, “Do you know who it is centered around?” Kagome shook her head. “Hm... Well then I guess we all had best be on our guard then.” Souta said as both Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru entered the room, both with swords attached to their hips.

Sesshoumaru let out a bit of a growl when he saw that Kouga was touching HIS Kagome. Everyone looked at him and Kouga narrowed his eyes at him as Kagome turned her head away, but it didn’t last long as Kagome got up and walked over to Sesshoumaru, “What’s the matter grumpy pants?”

Sesshoumaru just buried his nose in her neck and pulled her close until he calmed. If you say the man that confessed his love for your girl holding her, you would be pissed too, right?

Sesshoumaru straightened up and said coldly, “We should be getting going.”

Everyone was confused but nodded none the less. The all piled into Kouga’s hummer and their weapons were placed in the back every one brought one with Kagome’s feeling. Better safe than sorry they thought.

When they arrived they were met but the curator of the museum. “Hello every one, my name is Joshua, call me Josh.” He bowed knowing that they were from Japan originally. When he stood he took Kagome’s hand and kissed it. “You must be the Miko Kagome.” He said and Sesshoumaru growled. “Hm...” He said. “And you must be her mate to be. Shame I wasn’t twenty years younger.” He said the last part under his breath but every one caught it. “Well come, come this way” He showed them in the door and too a well lit room with a statue in the middle, there was a glass case around the whole statue.

“Do you keep it seal to keep others from touching?” Inuyasha asked.

“Oh, No, my dear boy its to protect them should they want to touch it, well go ahead try to, I swear it will not hurt you.” he paused and watched as inuyasha approached it, “But watch it’s reaction to you trying to touch it.” Josh said as Inuyasha reached out to touch it.

When Inuyasha’s hand was within inches of the glass the statue started to spark and give off electric volts in every direction. Inuyasha jumped back startled, “What the hell Old man?”

“Old man? Well that is a new one. It reacts like that with every one, even myself. That is why the glass goes the whole way around so that it can be transported. NO one I have ever met has been able to touch it but I have a good feeling about you, Miss Kagome.” The Curator said and he motioned for her to step forward.

Kagome looked toward the guys behind her Souta and Kouga both motioned for her to move forward and Sesshoumaru looked on with cold indifference but she could see the worry in his eyes.

“Will you guys come with me. That bad feeling just got worse.” She whispered the last part out.

They nodded and Sesshoumaru and Souta grabbed her hands and kouga walked behind her. Sesshoumaru’s hand was firmly grasping his tokijin. And Souta had materialized his staff. As they approached the statue seemed to calm. They released Kagome and she stepped forward toward the statue cased in glass. She looked back at them and then touched the glass it calmed conpletely and the glass shattered as the statue released a glowing sword, it glowed pinkish purple and vibrated, it seemed to call to Kagome.

As she reached out and took the sword the side wall to the room collapsed and in came a hord or demons followed but Tasukie himself. “You will hand over that sword or die, miko.”

“I think not bastard.” Kagome said and the demons got the clear to attack.
All five of them were out numbered and Kagome was quickly circled and cut off from the rest. Josh the curator call in for more guards and they all charged forward towards the demon with the others. The fought with Guns and a lot of good that did when they all moved faster than bullets. Soon the floor was littered with demons and guards but still no sight of Kagome.\

On the other side of the demon wall that seemed to have been erected was Kagome fighting for her life. She had the sword and it allowed he to had a great amount of power but no matter how many of the demons she killed they seemed to keep coming. Kagome killed those around her and what seemed like two more took its place, soon she was surrounded on all sides and was fighting for her life.

Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha feared the worst and used a combine dragon strike and wind scar together to clear out all of the demons around them.

Kagome heard the shouts and ducked behind her sword and avoided the blast. The Combine blast killed every thing but Tasukie who was on the other side of the room. With a whistle more demons seemed to flood the room.

Souta transformed his staff into twin swords and began fighting like that. Using both arms each independent from the other and not knowing which was going where, soon he had his own little pile of dead demons piled up around him and he had to jump over them to get to more.

Sesshoumaru used both his poison whip and Tokijin to eliminate the demons, and shortly he had his own pile but they seem to not stop it was as if he kept bringing them back. Almost as if they were fighting the same demons over and over.

Inuyasha used a combination of his claws and sword, until he got hit and then he used his blades of blood. Soon he too noticed what the other two did, he could have swore that he killed that demon once ore twice before. “Hey Sesshoumaru, something fishing is going on.” He shouted above the racket of the battle.

Sesshoumaru nodded, “We have noticed as well Inuyasha, he is either bringing them back or we are stuck in an illusion.”

“Oh I can assure you Sesshoumaru what you are fighting is not an illusion. It is real, I have the power to control the dead so no matter how often you kill them I will bring them back.” Tasukie said, and his voice seemed to bounce off the walls, like surround sound.

“Bastard.” Inuyasha growled as he punched another demon away from him.

Kagome was having her own issues but could hear perfectly what was going on around her. Kagome divided her sword into a pair of sai. One held the power of the jewel while the other did not. She used both to dig her way out of the pit of demons and to the others.

She ended up beside Souta ans the two double teamed the demon that circled around them. The demon keep coming and they didn’t stop soon they were fighting the same demons over again.

“Damn it this has to stop.” Kouga shouted as he tore into the demons with his claws. His favorite weapon. If your gonna kill something, do it with your bare hands it is more fun. At least that was his motto.

Kouga jumped out of the pit and spotted Tasukie standing beside a dead curator, and he took off for him. “Kouga don’t your not strong enough!” Kagome shouted after him but he didn’t listen.

The demons faded away to corpses as Kouga engaged Tasukie in battle, he needed to concentrate on the battle so he dropped the dead ones knowing that none of the others would interfere with another battle.

Tasukie danced around Kouga, taunted and toyed with him. He laughed as he reveiled kouga’s darkest secret. “I wonder Kouga how a Child not even born from Higurashi even got the business?”

After that was said Kouga went into a rage and slashed and punched at Tasukie who still managed to dance around him and avoid being hit.

Kagome gasped at this information, she had always thought that kouag was her real brother not adopted. She looked at Souta and he looked just as shocked, then she looked at Sesshoumaru and the look said it all. He knew and he didn’t tell her. He knew, and he kept it from her. The question was... Why? But she didn’t need to know that Sesshoumaru knew to confirm it, Kouga’s reaction was enough.

How could the two of them keep that from her, I mean she was his sister, at least she was raised that way she would never look at him differently. Unless there was some other reason behind it. But what could it be. He was always a good brother and her best friend no matter what, always very protective of her and chassed all her boyfriends... away... OH MY GOD... Kouga was in love with me that was why he never said any thing.

Sesshoumaru had been watching her facial expression and he knew that she knew
‘Shit.’ Was the first thing that came to mind, “Now she’s gonna be mad because I didn’t tell her. Damn it.’

Souta was pondering the same thing when he looked up and gasped. Kagome And Sesshoumaru soon followed. They looked up in just enough time to see Kouga be imbaled but the sword that tasukie had pulled from one of the displays in another room.

All was silent until reality hit Kagome and Sesshoumaru, Sesshoumaru Ran forward after Tasukie while kagome ran forward dropped to her knees beside kouga and pulled him into her lap. “Kouga stay with me, please don’t leave me.” She chanted to him over and over again. “I need you, you’re my brother I love you.”

Kouga smiled and said I love you, too Kagome.” And took him last breath.

Sesshoumaru who had returned from losing Tasukie came back in time to see Kouga die in Kagomes’ arms. They watched on and she cryed silently they threw her head back and let out a blood curdling scream.

Her best friend and brother, her companion and one she could always count on was dead. The only thing left was to cry. Kagome’s loud sobs were the only sounds in the still room. They had gotten the artifact but at a price.

“KOUGA!!!!!!!!”
