Chapter Twenty-Two
"Again," Inuyasha ordered.
Kagome focused her thoughts on the fang transforming. They'd been at it for over two hours. She envied her friend at the moment who was sleeping peacefully near the fire. She'd gotten the sword to transform only a handful of times. She didn't have any demonic blood flowing in her veins. But Inuyasha had said it would transform for her due to the fact a part of him was in it. Since he wanted to fight for her, it would do the job. She was ready to give up. She was tired and hungy. Thankfully the group was nice enough to leave some of the meat for her and Sango. She concentrated and got it to transform one more time. This time had been much easier.
When she held the weight in both her hands he decided it was time. "We will need a guinea pig now." He turned around to look at the red headed fox that had been staring daggers into his back. "Fox, wanna help?"
Kurama was about to tell him to shove his request up his ass but Kagome turned and smiled at him. 'Oh well.' He stood where the hanyou told him to. He wasn't happy about it. Not in the least bit.
Inuyasha stood behind Kagome with his arms around her. He was going to explain how to see the wind scar. He looked towards the fox and cursed. "What the hell?"
"What's wrong?" Kagome asked.
"I can't see the wind scar. Red head I thought you were a demon. Sit your ass down you won't be of any help." (AN: I figured he wouldn't be able to see it since the wind collides with the demonic aura. And as Shuichi he is in a human body.)
Kurama glared at him. His hand itched to choke him. He merely smiled, within seconds the area filled with eletric energy causing Kagome to gasp at the sensations cursing through her body.
The miko looked in awe, where Kurama had stood there was someone else. He was dressed all in white, even his hair was white, it feel down his back. "Wow." Escaped her lips. She'd though Kurama was sexy as a red head. The smirk told her it was him. This must be his demon form. A smile lit his face at that one word.
Inuyasha made a face at the girl. "He's not that impressive."
Kagome looked up to see two cute little ears on top his head. She dropped the sword on the ground and walked over. Inuyasha stared at her as she walked towards the fox. 'I wanna touch em.'
Kurama didn't know what to expect when she approached him. His breath caught when she reached over him to begin rubbing his ears. Kagome wrapped her fingers around his ears, 'Wow, silky.'
Hiei broke out in laughter, seeing the girl rush over to rub his friend's ears was too much.
Kurama sighed and turned to walk away from the girl. He wasn't a dog. Kagome was disappointed when he started walking away from her. She reached out and grabbed ahold of his tail. 'Fluffy.'
He turned and yelled at her, "Let go of me!" Her fingers were curled in his tail rubbing him. Was the girl stupid? Did she want him to throw her down and take her infront of everyone. He tried walking again this time he ended up dragging her behind him.
"Taking him for a walk Kagome?" Miroku asked. Hiei laughed when the fox turned red.
Yoko turned to glare at the girl. All she did was look at him with a wide eyed expression. He yanked his tail out her hand. He walked to stand right in front of her. A mere inch seperated his body from hers. She could feel the heat coming off him. "What is your problem girl?"
She smiled into his face. "Sorry, you're so cute. I just had to touch you." Her words innocent but the reaction it had on his body was anything but. He grabbed her arms and brought his mouth crashing down on hers. It only lasted a second.
"Sorry, you're so cute. I just had to kiss you. Now, go before I change my mind." He gave her a slight push towards the scowling hanyou.
Inuyasha felt like tearing those damn cute ears off his fucking head. Kagome stopped at his side with a dreamy expression on her face. He sighed, "Get over it Kagome. It couldn't have been that good a kiss."
"Huh," She looked into the face of her first love and best friend. A blush spread across her face. Inuyasha thrust the Tetsusiaga back in her hand. "Right!" 'Good my ass! That had been awesome. It only lasted a second but I'll be damned if my toes didn't curl.'
She tried to concentrate on the task at hand.
Kurama merely stood there with his arms folded. He had a bored look on his face.
Inuyasha tried to explain how to see the windscar now being able to see it himself. It took another hour before Kagome saw it. "HA! I see it."
"Good now try it on someone else." Inuyasha asked someone else to take Kurama's place. Hiei was standing in the spot before anyone could volunteer. Kagome looked once again after several minutes she saw it once again.
"How do I unleash it's power?" She asked.
He scratched his head on that one. "I could show you but we don't want to kill anyone."
"Go ahead." This came from Hiei who was still standing there. "I'll move."
"Fine but it's your funeral." Inuyasha stood behind Kagome and told her to inform him when she was ready.
"Okay got it."
"Now thrust Tetsusiaga towards the fischer, it will release its power." Kagome did what he said. A blast of energy was released from the sword heading straight for Hiei. Everyone watched not believing the power crossing the clearing. The dust cleared and Hiei was nowhere to be seen. "Heh."
"Not bad." Hiei spoke from behind them.
Miroku placed his hand on Sango's shoulder shaking her slightly. It was time for him and Inuyasha to return with Koenma. He wanted to say goodbye before he left. She opened her eyes to find him leaning over her. Her hand shot up, the slap sounding across the clearing. He smiled, "Hmm, I'm going to miss that."
"Miroku?" She sat up and looked around. Kagome was standing next to a portal with Inuyasha hugging him. "Are you leaving now?"
"Yes, its time for us to return." He felt her leap into his arms. He embraced her one final time. "Before I leave I want you to promise me that you'll find what happiness you can." At her nod he continued. "I know I wasn't the model fiance nor would I have been the perfect husband. But never doubt that you had my heart. I love you Sango."
"I loved you too." He had to smile at the past tense added on the love. Part of him was sad that she had moved on. But she deserved to be happy. He gave her a pat on the backside. "Now, be a good girl and take care of Kagome." He left her and walked into the portal. She watched him go.
Kagome didn't want to release Inuyasha. She'd trully never see him again after this. "I'll miss you."
"I'm sure the fox will be glad to keep you company." He stated. He felt a fist land in his gut. "Dammit Kagome."
"Serves you right."
"Hmph, don't tell me you don't like him." He pulled her close and spoke to her. "It's okay. Just do me a favor, next time you rub his ears think of me. Be happy Kagome, find the happiness you were able to give me." He let her go and walked into the portal. "Remember that I'll always love you and I'm with you." Then he was gone. The portal had closed.
Sango walked over and wrapped her arms around Kagome's shoulders both facing where the portal had been. Tears were shed as they said goodbye for the last time. Both were smiling as the sun came up.
