Frightful Flight

A/N: Thanks for all the reviews guys. I really do appreciate them. Well this chapter is basically the second to last. I know it's so sad. I do plan to write another fanfiction though. I already have an idea for a Sess/Rin fic. I'll leave a short preview summary at the end of this story and you can tell me what you think. Again thank you to all who have read or reviewed.

ish: Yes Kagome has a idea of her powers, but this chapter really take her to them and the start of next. That was a hint, but I’m not sayin nothing.

Previously

In the back of the club it was dark out and was a vacant field. There was dirt and little grass on the ground. It looked familiar to both of them. Then they realized this was the place from their vision. They saw two figures in the dark. Naraku and Kikyo stepped forward. It was time.

Chapter Twenty-two

It seemed as though the world was at a stand still. Naraku and Kikyo stood in front of Inuyasha and Kagome, saying nothing, but silence spoke volumes. Kikyo had this god awful smirk on her face. Kagome looked on in disgust as Naraku and Kikyo kissed each other, with quite a bit of tongue, and then spilt up each looking at their opponent. Kagome had just come into her abilities and now had to test them. She wasn't sure she could actually do it, but she'd be damned if she wasn't gonna try, before letting this second rate whore win.

Inuyasha chanced a glance at Kagome, trying to read her array of emotions, as they splayed across her face. He saw nervousness, then anger and fire burn in her eyes. He smirked then turned to the bastard his blood was begging him to kill. Sure he was worried about Kagome, she had just gotten out of the hospital, but he knew this had to happen. Naraku had a cruel evil smile on his face that showed his over-confident and overbearing side.

********Kikyo and Kagome********

"Stepping up to the big leagues Kag?" Kikyo's voice was shrill and mocking. The smirk on her face turned Kagome's stomach.

"Whore shut it and fight. If you have the guts." It was a challenge and Kagome knew that Kikyo couldn't back down from a challenge.

Kikyo's face visibly flushed with rage. She'd show Kagome who was in charge here. Kikyo closed her eyes and a blue hue grew around her. Her aura flaring with the energy that was presenting itself. She concentrated on her inner energy, building it to a point, she thought, sufficient to take down her, cousin. Kikyo snapped her eyes open and blasted Kagome with a powerful purity beam.

Kagome tried to move, but shock from the sight of a blue beam of energy held her in place. When the thought finally registered she didn't have time to move before being blasted. It hurt like hell. Kagome closed her eyes as she made impact with the cold dirt ground behind her. The searing pain didn't hurt as much as she thought it would. For some reason Kagome thought it would be like getting shot, pulling, ripping, and excruciating pain. It was more of a jab of a sharp needle that administered a tingly pricking stabbing from the exact spot it hit. A through shock that awakened the senses and stung the imperfections. She gained control of her breathing as the sound of her cousin walking in her direction, mentally hit her.

Rolling to the side, Kagome pushed herself off the ground and flipped back into her fighting position, the pain gone leaving pure adrenaline coursing with the hatred through her veins. She concentrated on every horrid thing this slut had done to her and the pain she'd inflicted on Kagome. Suddenly it was like she reached a new awareness of self. She'd felt this in much smaller proportions before, but now every fiber of her being seemed to hum as she found something she didn't think she had.

Kikyo watched with great unease as her cousin started to glow pink. It had started as a small flicker and startled her a little, but as she began to move again the light grew. It was now a large dome shape around Kagome. Kikyo then realized this wasn't gonna be the easy push over game, she'd thought it would be, but instead this was going to be war. Every evil and vindictive thing that had ever passed between the two blood relatives was now going to end. One of them would come out victor and the other wouldn't come out of this at all.

Kikyo centered herself and harnessed her energy. She pulled all of what she had and readied herself. Kagome opened her eyes and the look of her entire face changed. Her hair was now flowing in a majestic way around her and her eyes once a simple blue looked like a tsunami. A torrent of deep sea blue crashing and fighting to claim everything it touched. They weren't the eyes of a sweet innocent little girl, they shown depth and power, shocking even to an experienced miko. Her cheeks were rosy and lips were drawn together in a staight line. She appeared over all like a goddess.

Kikyo didn't waste time. She shot a beam with great force at Kagome. It was absorbed by a massive array of pink energy. Kagome hadn't even batted an eyelash. Kagome in return sent a sugary pink beam that clashed violently with an electric blue shock that was Kikyo's force field. Kikyo took her attack as opening. She ran at Kagome and punched at her. Her fist smashed through the pink bubble standing between her and Kagome and she attacked. It was painful, greatly. Kikyo felt the searing energy that lit her blood on fire. She didn't care this was serious her life at risk. Kagome caught her fist and gave a right hook to Kikyo's head.

Kagome felt the bubble smash like broken glass, but it didn't affect her. She felt like a stranger in her own body. Some amazing force had taken over and was using what her body knew how to do. She was a machine and the second her right fist collided with the side of soft flesh of her cousin's head she snapped. A rage that had brewed for to many years now unleashed itself from logic or reason. Kikyo stumbled and Kagome didn't hesitate to grab her by the hair and bring her knee into her face. Kikyo fell from Kagome grasp and then was immediately on her feet. Blood dripping down her nose and a bruise was already forming over her left eye.

Kikyo went down on her feet and swiped at Kagome who didn't jump fast enough. Kikyo's heels and Kagome's were off. They had removed them moments before the fight and everything seemed primal. Kagome made a 'thud' sound when she hit the earth, but she wasn't there long. She was on her feet in seconds doing a dance move Inuyasha used called a neck kip. Kikyo stood up fast catching the foot coming her way and twisting the angle of the owner. Kagome did a full spin in the air when Kikyo released her and she landed on her hands and tip toes. She rolled over and pushed of the ground doing a flip and landed a few feet away. The two women circled each other and then Kikyo grabbed for Kagome. Big Mistake.

Kagome moved faster than could be anticipated and ended up head locking the hot headed miko. Kagome gathered energy and sent a shock into the flailing girl’s body. She went limp and Kagome dropped her. She was gonna let her get her barings back so she could win this face to face. She wouldn't hit an opponent when she was down, it wasn't honorable. Kikyo came out of her stunned daze rather quickly, but she was still disoriented. Her body working on autopilot got up and wobbled a bit, then faced the full wrath of the blue eyed fury.

Kikyo pretended to be giving up. "You're a lot tougher than I gave you credit for." Kikyo slid a dagger from her waistband and twirled it behind her back. "I had you pegged for a pushover. Guess I was wrong?" Kagome looked confused and that was her opening. She brought out the knife with amazing speed and threw it with as much blast she could. The glowing dagger didn't make it to Kagome's heart, it's intended destination, for Kagome grabbed it. The blue faded with one last flare, but none the less faded.

Kagome examined the offensive weapon. She didn't feel the pain, though she saw the blood seeping down her palm and wrists leading a trail to her elbow before dripping off. No this wasn't the time for her pain, it was time for fight. Peering into the now terrified eyes of Kikyo she took the knife from her hand into the other and cradled it. She watched as she effortlessly energized the item. She approached Kikyo who backed up and sent feeble blue shocks her way. Kagome then lunged as Kikyo stopped then jerked back, plunging the dagger into her heart.

Symbolic in a way. How she plunged a dagger ridden with her blood into the chest of her blood relative. Kagome released the weapon and watched as the glow expanded and covered Kikyo in massive waves of power, her, Kagome's power. She shrieked and pulled out the knife and when it hit the ground Kikyo's cries disappeared as she disintegrated into nothingness.

Kagome suddenly became very aware of the fight coinciding with her own. Inuyasha stood in fighting Naraku, but Naraku looked different. He had tentacles and was monstrous in size. He was so enthralled in his war; she thought she might be able to sneak up on them. She raced very silently almost stealth like to his side and ready to blast him when she felt it. Inuyasha's eyes turned to her as everything still.

Looking down she saw exactly what she was afraid to see. A tentacle was sticking in her stomach and straight through. The pain processed once she gained visual proof. A cold bone chilling laugh filled the air. It sent goose bumps up her arms and heat to her pale body. Pure unadulterated evil...Naraku was laughing. Blood trickling down her stomach and back soaked her clothes and brought a sense of unreality to her. It was intense and she had seen it with her own to eyes.

Inuyasha stood frozen. Kagome stood there staring at her wound as he stared at her. This couldn't be real he wouldn't accept it. Finally she met his eyes and collapsed as he ran to her screaming her name. Before she hit the ground his arms enveloped her. No. She wouldn't die. He loved her and she couldn't die. Logic didn't penetrate the reality his mind was swimming in. The tentacle had withdrawn, leaving a gapping hole in its place. Blood gushed out of her and her body began to convulse as blood trickled from her mouth.

"Kagome stop. You can't-" his own sob cut him off. She looked at him...her eyes showing every bit of love she held in her for this hanyou.

"I...I will see you...I love you,*coughs* Inuyasha. Inuyasha shook his head and kissed her. The metallic taste of blood filled his mouth and then....she went limp. Nothing. Her body still warm and her eyes closed. She wasn't there. Her soul wasn't there and it ripped him apart inside. Lifting his mouth from her's apart of him died. His inner demon took over.

Roaring with a deep intensity that screamed for blood he turned. His eye red,100% red. His fangs grew to the length of a saber tooth tiger and his claws were deadly machetes. Naraku was his target and for his emotional suffering he would have his blood. Raising his eyes to that of a malicious laughing red pair like his own he snared.

Faster than sound Inuyasha was slicing the bastard. The tentacles regrew and a laugh was Naraku's own Requiem. Inuyasha was slashed as well by tentacles, but nothing got through to him. Naraku gained a grip on the demon's throat and threw him through the back wall of the club and rubble piled on him. Inuyasha lay still for a moment. He was up in no time a renewed vigor at the sight of Kagome's body flashing through his mind.

Naraku put a tentacle through his arm and then it happened, Inuyasha grabbed the tentacle and yanked it out of him. He pulled the son of a bitch to him and leap on him. Naraku was shocked, but reacted, flailing his tentacles; much like Kikyo did her arms. Inuyasha ripped through them and then got to the chest. He bloodied his claws and slashed at Naraku's face. He took off an arm and then he killed him. Inuyasha wrenched out his hand with Naraku's still beating heart in it. It was black and irony again reined.

Naraku's face mirrored his thoughts. 'I'm dead' and his body stopped all movement and just seemed to melt. The tentacles pooled into liquid and the horrible cries of agony of hundreds of demons came. It was a sight that would invent a new meaning to the word nightmare. All different shapes sizes and types of demons flew from the hanyou. Then as they hit the air dissipated into nothing with one last united cry. The only thing left remaining was the heart, which he still grasped. With a heart-wrenching cry he crushed the heart to dust and fell to the ground crying.

A light suddenly appeared causing Inuyasha to look up and saw.........
