Chapter 22
Oh Come All Ye Faithful
Oh come, all ye faithful
Joyful and triumphant
Come ye, Oh come ye to Bethlehem
Come and behold Him
Born the King of angels
Oh come let us adore Him
Oh come let us adore Him
Oh come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord
Sing choirs of angels
Sing in exultation
Sing all ye citizens of the heaven above
Glory to God
Glory in the highest
Oh come let us adore Him
Oh come let us adore Him
Oh come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord
Yea Lord we greet thee
Born this happy morning
Jesus to Thee be all glory given
Word of the Father
Now in flesh appearing
Oh come let us adore Him
Oh come let us adore Him
Oh come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord

It was finally Christmas Eve and Sesshoumaru indeed allowed Rin and Kohaku to spend this day and Christmas together in the village since they were all going there to hear the story of Christmas.
Rin was able to convince Sesshoumaru to commission a shoemaker to make shoes for the people of Kaede’s village although he refused to take credit for helping anyone. He also commissioned several wool coats for the youngling humans since even if he didn’t want to admit it, Sesshoumaru loved children.
Inuyasha went to the market to pick out some gifts for everyone with the money from his vault that Chichi had left for him. Inuyasha made Sesshoumaru wait for him outside of the market since he wanted to buy a gift for his Ani.
Sesshoumaru allowed Kohaku to come with them to the village since the boy probably missed his Ane. The boy had been working hard and Sesshoumaru rewarded good behavior and tenacity. He even allowed Rin to ride on Kirara with Kohaku so the two young people could be together, but there would be only chaste kisses since Sesshoumaru was serious about making the young couple wait a full year to wed. There was a castle to be built in the Taijiya village.
The carriage was set up for Kagome and the pup to travel as Sesshoumaru and Inuyasha got inside to sit with their ningen mate with Aun pulling them along. A second carriage was set up for all the gifts for their family and carried the shoemaker with all of his supplies as well as the coats for the people of the village.
Inuyasha took his pup from Kagome and sat happily across from her and Sesshoumaru. Fuyuki pulled at Inuyasha’s long silvery locks Inuyasha did not mind though.
As they flew across the sky, Sesshoumaru thought deeply about the things he was learning from his ningen mate. Kagome’s mind was an open book and there were so many things that Kagome missed from her future home it made Sesshoumaru feel for the girl. As a good Alpha mate Sesshoumaru hoped he could find a way to help Kagome travel from her world and back.
Inuyasha was also missing Kagome’s family who always treated him like he was family. Mrs. Higurashi was always kind to him and he missed her almost as much as Kagome did. After this Christmas Holiday Sesshoumaru promised they would go to the bone eater’s well to find out if it would work. Christmas was supposed to be about hope according to Kagome so Sesshoumaru could only hope that his mate’s wishes would come true.

Sango sadly watched as another villager took down the decorations that everyone worked so hard to create. It seemed that this Christmas was going to be less than joyful.
Kaede was on bed rest since she had a fever and was not doing well. Sango prayed that Kagome would be coming for Christmas since there was so many of the villagers that had lost hope thinking that their elderly miko was not going to survive this year.
Suddenly Sango felt the presence of a powerful demon and was surprised to see the white carriage again with Kirara in front of it carrying her Otouto and Rin.
As everyone landed the villagers came out of their homes to see what was going on.
The door of the carriage opened and the first to step out was Sesshoumaru followed by Inuyasha holding Fuyuki and Kagome.
The people of the village were relieved that Kagome was back, but those who took their decorations down did not put them back up.
Kagome looked sadly at the village that usually was decorated so pretty during Christmas.
Sango, Miroku, and their children came out to greet Rin and Kohaku.
“Hello Ane.”
Kohaku said to his Ane who pulled him into a bear hug.
“I have missed you Kohaku. Are you being treated well Otouto?”
Kohaku talked to his Ane about his training and the things Sesshoumaru told him to do to invest his money in a way to make it grow so that they could rebuild the Taijiya village.
“Where is Sobo Kaede?”
Kagome asked Sango.
Sango looked very sad.
“Sobo Kaede is ill with a fever this time. She has been resting for a few days now. We all hope she will be able to fight this fever, but many of the villagers have lost hope. They all believe that when Sobo Kaede dies there will be none to take her place.”
Kagome had the villagers gather around.
“Good people do not fear or lose hope. I will be training young Rin in the knowledge I have learned while I was here. Rin will be teaching your new miko who will only temporarily be training in the Taijiya village, but we need to have your daughters come forward so that we may find the new village miko.’
“Rin, please go and see what you can do for Sobo Kaede.”
Rin nodded and hurried to Sobo Kaede’s home to see what she could do to reduce Sobo Kaede’s fever.
Several of the young women of the village came forward and Kagome closed her eyes trying to feel if any had the aura of a true born miko.
Soon Kagome stopped and looked at one young maiden. She was a pure soul and had the makings of a powerful miko.
“What is your name?”
Kagome asked the young woman who was surprised that the beautiful Lady before her was asking her of all people her name.
“My name is Airi my Lady.”
Kagome nodded and looked at the birthmark that graced the young woman’s face. She was beautiful other than the marking, but that perhaps is what made her unique among the other women.
“Airi, are you willing to give up your freedom to heal those in need and be the light of this village?”
Airi nodded feeling honored that she was chosen.
“Then come with me to help Rin since she will be your mentor.”
The relief of the villagers was great and some of the villagers put back up their decorations now that Lady Kagome had returned.
Sesshoumaru made the villagers a bit nervous as they politely looked down rather than directly at the demon Lord.
Inuyasha led Sesshoumaru into his house that he had built.
“This is where we will stay tonight.”
Sesshoumaru looked around the small house and nodded.
“It will do.”
Inuyasha smiled as Sesshoumaru tested the walls and the door.
“You built this yourself?”
Sesshoumaru asked and Inuyasha nodded.
“It is quite sturdy and keeps out the cold better than most of the homes around us.”
Sesshoumaru was pleased with his Otouto. Inuyasha had done so much for himself without anyone’s help. Inuyasha doing so much on his own would never happen again since Sesshoumaru planned on making Inuyasha’s life one of privilege and prestige.
“You have done well for yourself Inuyasha. I am pleased with all you have done. Chichi would be proud of you.”
Inuyasha blushed and Sesshoumaru smiled at his Otouto.
“I think now that we are not fighting that Chichi would be proud of both of us Sesshoumaru.”
Sesshoumaru agreed and kissed his mate gently on the lips.

Kagome and Rin stayed with Sobo Kaede until she was able to sleep setting up bags filled with snow to cool her temperature down.
Airi was making a broth with the directions she was given by Rin. Airi was indeed a quick learner as she assisted the two mikos with everything that Sobo Kaede needed.
It wasn’t until dusk that Sobo Kaede was able to eat a little broth with the medicinal herbs in it.
“Rin, it will be time soon for Miroku to tell everyone the meaning of Christmas. Do you wish to remain here with Sobo Kaede or do you wish to listen to the tale again?”
Rin thought about it for a moment.
“I have heard it before so perhaps Airi and I should remain here. You have heard the tale have you not Airi?”
Airi smiled.
“Yes I have heard it and Master Miroku tells it so well, however I would rather stay and learn from Lady Rin since Sobo Kaede’s health is much more important than a story.”
Kagome smiled.
“Well I am going to leave the two of you then. Sesshoumaru has never heard this tale so I would like to see my mate’s reaction and be there if he has questions.”
Rin nodded and Kagome walked out of the house to go outside where a bonfire was roaring keeping everyone warm as Miroku was getting prepared to tell the tale of Christmas.
Oh come, all ye faithful
