Just a Little Rivalry

Chapter 22: A Friend Indeed.

Kanna was beginning to feel crushed in her place between her mother and Kagome. There was another woman named Sango that pushed up against them as well.

One very mad man and a wolf with a pissed off youkai were guarding and shielding them.

Another snarling demon/hanyou was fighting the bad man that had been there before.

That bad man-her mom and called him Naraku. She hadn’t really said anything to the other man with him.

She shut her eyes tight whenever she heard the snarling increase.

They were now in the park.

Naraku had forced his way through the door, but somehow, that hanyou whose name was Inu Yasha had broken through the window and started pulling them out. The wolf demon had helped.

Kagome was scared at first, but now, she was getting pissed.

Who the hell did this fucker think he was to come barging in anywhere.

Koga shivered as he felt Kagome’s miko energy flare up. It was obvious that she was getting pissed. He fought the urge to run from it and nurture his instinct to protect those behind him.

The next thing that Koga knew was that Sesshomaru was heading toward Inu Yasha, growling viciously with claws extended and leaking poison.

He watched as Sesshomaru stepped next to his brother and lashed out with his whip, hitting Muso and knocking him back with an injury to his leg.

No words were exchanged nor looks.

The brothers began to fight Naraku.

Kagome stepped around Miroku and Koga and yelled at the fighting trio.

“Naraku! You are shit!”

Her energy continued to spike higher and higher, causing a slight burning and tingling sensation to the demons.

Naraku, Muso and Inu Yasha seemed oblivious to it though.

Miroku could feel the energy, but it didn’t phase him.

He began to try to pull his friend back by her shirt to no avail. She wouldn’t budge back. She shook his hand off of her and held her own behind her in a stand down gesture.

Unsure how to get her to step back, he walked with her.

Inu Yasha continued to growl at Naraku but began to point her back to where she was at. He wanted her back to safety.

He turned fully when she refused to obey him.

Sesshomaru then turned and began to growl his displeasure at her disobedience. His eyes were flashing red and darkening further to crimson.

Kagome refused to do as they were telling her to.

Naraku was fast as was Muso. Miroku, Sesshomaru, Inu Yasha and Kagome were gone in a flash.

Koga, Sango, Kagura and Kanna were stunned. One second, there looked to be a battle forming right in front of them; the next second, there was nobody.

Kagome felt somebody putting their arms around her.

She let out her best growl. She knew that presence.

Here she was, blindfolded and between the two people-the only two people-that she had ever wished dead and really meant it.

She somehow knew her mate was in the back of the vehicle, but he was unable to move.

Her body had to sway with the two around her as the curves were taken so fast and recklessly in their speed that the momentum threw them around.

She felt the van come to a stop quite sometime later. There was a fast pain in the back of her head, and the last thing she heard before succumbing to the blissful darkness that was closing around her with its arms was her mate’s anguished cry.

Sometime later, she woke and turned toward the sky, looking up.

She was outside, lying on the ground. Lying wasn’t quite right. She was tied down out here.

Turning her head, she spotted Inu Yasha tied to a tree with chains that were glowing a dull, dark purple.

She continued to scan the area until she found Miroku, face down on the ground with his hands and feet tied behind him.

She turned her head only to have her view briefly disrupted. A foot was directly next to her head. Scanning up the leg attached to that foot, she finally found the face. Muso.

He grinned down at her. He was pleased. His brother had promised at least a piece of her to him after he had gotten what he desired from her.

Kagome finally spotted Sesshomaru, who was glaring at Muso with red eyes. He was tied with chains similar to her mate’s.

She felt someone walk closer to her and kneel down near her head across from Muso.

“I had to test your power before. The best way to do that is to stress you out and make you try to defend yourself. I have this little box that I cannot open. Inside of this box is something I want desperately. You have the power to open this. I knew this after I got a taste of it. I got that deliciously addictive, powerful taste when we had fun causing you that spot of stress. I haven’t decided what I am going to quite do with you once you open this, but the better you behave, the nicer I will feel towards you.”

Kagome glared daggers up at him as she watched him pull out a small, beautiful box. It had an intricate floral pattern with vines and leaves and a tree.

She could sense something in that box. Whatever it was-it was new yet still familiar to her. It called out his lonely song to her soul, and her soul responded. Her aura flared up as she studied the box.

The next thing she knew, she was sitting up with a gun to the back of her head, studying the box.

The vines began to move; the flowers shifted.

The box was opening.

Inside was a necklace. On the chain of the heavy necklace was a large disk that mimicked the box with its vines, flowers and a tree in the middle.

Kagome moved her finger over the talisman. It shook in her hand before unwrapping the tree to reveal a large, light pink jewel.

Naraku was chuckling behind her.

His only thought was how he was about to receive everything he ever wanted.

“I will just have to keep you, my miko. You will have to stay with us since your powers, untrained though they are, will definitely help in the future,” Naraku happily stroked her shoulder and spoke to her, knowingly enraging Inu Yasha and Sesshomaru as well as the now awake and stunned Miroku who had had a front row seat to her power.

Inu Yasha was finally forming words.

“Let her go! NOW!!! She is MINE!!!”


A/N: I know everybody thinks that Kagome is nuts for leaving. She just hopped in and went and all that. Well, there will be an explanation probably in the next chapter (not this one obviously).

Madmiko: Well, he did have to leave to get the part to fix the door. Grins. He is also a guy and that is the way that some are. (Not knocking you guys… just an observation…) Yup, they were all up for going and finding their friend and watch the ass kicking… that may come… Hehe… Remember that Koga is a demon and Inu Yasha is still a half demon in my story. They sniffed them out.

Well, thank you all that are just reading my story and enjoying it. I know I got this chapter out fast. I had to get it out before I lost this train of thought. The next chapter shouldn’t be too far away.
