Duel


Rin woke up when she felt Hiei slide out of bed. "Where are you going?" Then it hit her. "You're going to fight Naoko now aren't you?" She grabbed his arm. "Please don't go."

"I'm going. I want you to stay here."

There was a knock on the door, it was Sesshoumaru and Ayame. They came into the room, seeing that Hiei was preparing to go down. Sesshoumaru spoke to his mate, "Keep Rin here. I won't have her interfering."

"No." Rin tried to run out the door, but Sesshoumaru caught her around the waist.

"You will stay here. Don't worry if Naoko kills him; I'll bring him back. You can not stop it." He handed her to Ayame. "Here, I believe the others are going outside now to watch. You two will stay here."

"Fine." Ayame tried to hold onto the struggling girl. "Rin, he will be fine. Its best if you don't watch."

"Please stop them." Tears fell down her face.

Sesshoumaru had the Tensiaga on his side, as he walked out into the courtyard that would be used as the ring. He was prepared to bring his second in command back. Everyone, the gang, plus the servants and guards all came around to watch the fight. Kurama and Kagome had a bet going on how long Naoko would last. Kagome thought he'd last at least fifteen minutes, Kurama knew Hiei so he said five max.

The two faced each other and decided the terms. No weapons, only hand to hand. Sesshoumaru also stated that since the fight was to the death, the winner had to leave a body. Without a body he couldn't bring them back. So, Hiei couldn't use his dragon, shame.

Naoko was the first to strike, he ran at the fire youkai planning on taking his head. Hiei moved out the way, bringing his fist down on the man's neck. He fell to the ground, landing on his knees. "If you plan on giving me a fair fight, I suggest you get off the ground." Hiei taunted him.

Naoko rose off the ground, seemed he had greatly underestimated the fire youkai. The little bastard was fast, too fast. He formed a mist of poison to cloak his body.

"Make sure you keep that contained, Naoko." Sesshoumaru shouted.

"Of course." Naoko took a swing at Hiei. As expected Hiei ducked and swung at him. His cry of pain echoed as his hand came back smoldering. "Makes it hard to touch me doesn't it."

"Hn. I didn't want to get close to you anyways." Hiei shot a blast of blue energy towards the man. He jumped out the way, evading the shot.


Rin felt her heart sink when cries were heard from outside. That meant the fight had started and she was being forced to stay up here. It wasn't fair, why couldn't she go down. Ayame was sitting on the bed next to her, stroking her hair. As if it helped! The door was swung open and both of them jumped to their feet.

Ayame screamed at Rin to run as the youkai came in. She put herself in front of her daughter, he'd have to come through her. Her fear escilated seeing he didn't have a problem with it. He stormed right up to her, grabbed her by the shirt and threw her. She landed against the wall with a thud.

Rin tried to run to the fallen woman, "Ayame." Her arm was grabbed and she soon found herself face to face with Kado. "Let go of me." She struggled against him, her hand came up slapping him across the face.

"I don't suggest you do that again. We will walk out of here while everyone else is busy watching those two fools."

"No, I don't wanna go with you." She tried to pull away, but he held her firm. Ayame got up and attacked the arm holding the girl. Her claws dug into his arm. He brought his free arm up, punching her across the jaw. Rin heard a loud snapping sound before Ayame fell to the floor. "Ayame! OH MY GOD! Ayame." She hit him again trying to get to the still body of her adopted mother. His hand came up, causing her to slump.

He heard the shout from below, seemed his time was up. He picked her up, throwing her over his shoulder. He disappeared as he heard the footsteps.

Sesshoumaru watched as Hiei landed another punch across Naoko's face regardless of the poison. A jolt of fear shot down his spine, "Stop NOW." Both men came to a sudden stop at his yell. Everyone looked over at him wondering why he'd stop it. It was just getting good. He looked up at Rin's window then screamed. "Ayame." He felt the link with his mate suddenly vanish. "NO!" He ran through the doors and up to Rin's room his heart pounding.

He opened the door and his heart sank. He ran over to her body, picking her off the floor. Kouga came in, the last thing he expected to see was Sesshoumaru carrying a dead Ayame. "Fuck, what happened? Can you bring her back?"

He placed her on the bed, drawing the Tensiaga over her. Her chest rose and she coughed. "Rin?" She looked up to see them staring at her. "Rin, he has her."

"Was it him?"

"Yes."

Sesshoumaru walked out the room, Naoko was looking at him. "Your fight will have to wait, assemble the men. We leave within the hour to go fetch Rin."
