Never Easy

Kagome changed into a pair of black jeans and a black sweater. It fit her mood, she also decided to put her hair up. She also wanted the girl to wait on her. Just because she was happy and Kagome felt like shit. After slipping on her shoes she ran back downstairs to where the girl was waiting for her.

"Are you ready, Koenma isn't very patient. I'm sure the meeting has already begun without us."

"He'll get over it." Kagome knew she was being bitchy but after the month she'd had, oh well. She watched the girl hop on the oar. Was she really expected to ride on that thing. " I won't get splinters will I?"

"Nope, hop on."

Kagome's eyes widened and she jumped grabbing the girl around the chest knocking the her off the oar before it exploded. They landed on the ground.

Botan had thought the girl was attacking her then she'd heard the wood burst and splinters going everywhere. The girl jumped to her feet yanking her up in the process. What the hell? The blue haired girl turned to see what it was. "Fuck Me."

"Oh, I'm suprised to hear that out your mouth."

"What are we going to do?" Botan didn't want to die or whatever. She liked the body Koenma had given her.

"Come on, we gotta lead em away from the shrine." Kagome grabbed her hand. They took off down the stairs. Behind them at least five youkai could be seen. "Great, just fucking great. Did you have to bring friends?"

"They aren't mine."


Koenma was tapping his fingers on his desk. "Dammit where is that girl."

George ran in holding a comminucator. "Sir, its Botan."

Koenma snatched it out his hands, He screamed into the piece. "Where the hell are you, if you aren't here in ten minutes you're getting spankings."

"Fine sir, I'll gladly let you spank me if I live that long."

Koenma took in the situation, "Botan where are you?" A blast was heard. The girl could be heard shrieking. "Koenma, this isn't good."

The set was snatched out the girl's hands and he was suddenly looking at a girl with long black hair. She spoke into the communicator, "Sorry, she's busy running for her life now. She'll have to call you back." The strange girl laughed right before the line went dead.

"Dammit, you four get down there."

"I'm going to die."

"Well, at least you aren't smiling anymore." Kagome had to laugh. She was use to being chased, it almost felt like old times. Oh yeah, she was slowly losing it. They were hiding behind a building, trying to go unseen. It wasn't working because one of the youkai appeared. "Shit."

They took off again, Botan hoped Yusuke and the others were on their way. "We gotta find somewhere to hide until they get here to help."

"Well, THEY better hurry cause here they come." Kagome knew they couldn't keep running. It was late at night so most of the streets were empty. They rounded a corner and Kagome felt herself being grabbed around the neck. Botan screamed at seeing the girl being lifted into the air away from her.

"Kagome."

The youkai was flying in the air smiling at her with long black teeth. Kagome felt herself being lifted higher as the building tops soon appeared below her. He held her up as she tried to struggle. "Where is it? Give it to me."

"Eat shit, fucker." She was rewarded by a slap across the face.

"I know you have it, I can sense the power. I will find it if I have to tear you apart." He brought his claws to her face showing her how he planned on finding the small orb. "I'll start with your heart."

"Get off me," She reached out with her hand and pushed at his face. A flash of light shot from her hand, she saw his face melt from the blast. She screamed as she felt herself going down. She felt arms grab her midfall. She looked up to see Hiei looking down at her.

"Next time you decide to kill your opponent that has you over twenty feet off the ground make sure you know how to fly."

"Eat me shorty."

"Hn." He jumped to the nearest roof. He kept her in his arms, when she looked up she saw why. Several of the youkai were flying towards them. One sent a blast towards them, the small demon quickly moved. The same one charged them sending blast after blast. Hiei kept leaping out the way. He almost sighed when the others got there. The fuckers were relentless.

Kagome watched as Hiei dodged another blast. As soon as he landed a youkai appeared right behind him. Kagome was being held bridal style holding onto his neck so she saw him the instant they landed. She didn't have time to shout a warning before it emitted a blast of poison on them.

Kurama and Koronue jumped onto the roof top killing two of the demons. They'd been so preoccupied with Hiei they were dead before they realized that the small demon had back up. They turned to see Hiei land and a youkai appear behind him.

"Hiei," Kurama shouted but it was too late the poison rolled over the two. Yusuke fired taking out the one still shooting blasts into the cloud of poison. They jumped on the roof top, the demon was laughing.

"In another minute nothing will be left of them. The jewel will be mine." He took a step forward and reached his hand inside the mist. "What the hell? Impossible." He snatched his hand back his fingers were smoking. "That fucking whore." He groaned as a sword suddenly appeared in his chest. Yusuke arrived on the roof with Botan in tow.

"Where the fuck are they?"

Botan ran up to Kurama. "Where's Kagome? Oh my."

Stepping out the green mist was Hiei, in his arms Kagome. He was actually smiling. As the fire youkai walked the mist around him was being purified.

Kagome smiled up at the small youkai. "I should have stabbed him in the mouth, his breath was really nasty. Either that or recommend some tic tacs."

He started laughing at the comment. For a second he'd thought he was going to be melted. Then he'd felt the power pulsing around him. He hadn't been able to see shit, the girl had grabbed his katana and proceeded to stab something behind him.

She was still looking at him, "What are you doing here anyway? Not that I'm ungrateful."

"We have been sent to protect you."

"We?" He nodded his head and looked forward. She turned her head and felt her heart stop once more.
