Chapter 21: A Chance Meeting
Kagome smiled to herself as they returned to the car.
Initially Sesshomaru had been leery of shopping with her after the lingerie store, but they had fun in there. There had been the initial teasing of the leather thongs for him, with him venomently saying no. So they moved on to briefs with flowers and leafs printed on, another definite no. They both finally settled on silk boxers in various solid colors.
They picked out some silk panties and bras in various colors and prints, some lacy and silky pajamas in black, red, white, and a deep royal blue for her. Sesshomaru tried to convince Kagome to get some thongs for herself, but she refused, saying she tried them before and found the material in the back irritated her as she constantly felt like she had wedgies, so she wore high-cut briefs that showed off the contour of her legs and ass to perfection. After a small debate and fashion show, he did agree, telling her his objective was to more get her out of them, so as long as she was comfortable in them he would admire the view.
After there, they checked out other clothing stores. He picked up a new shirt similar to the one she ripped the night before, as well as a black silk shirt that clung to his shoulders to skim down his torso and stopped just at his hips. Kagome had drooled when he showed her before he purchased it. He smelt her arousal and walked over to where she was sitting on a chair just outside the changing room area. He had pulled her to her feet and quickly fused his mouth to hers in a searing kiss. By the time he pulled away, she was flushed and breathing hard. He looked at her through glittering eyes full of desire, than he smirked. “I will take this shirt.” He rumbled. He than released her and walked back into his change room.
They were walking back up the street towards where they parked the car, when Kagome was stopped by a hand on her arm. “Kagome? I didn’t expect to see you here. Enjoying the first day of your vacation?”
Kagome turned as the voice was speaking. “Hi, Sango. It was an unexpected trip here today. And I am most certainly enjoying my vacation. I would like for you to meet my mate, Sesshomaru Tasio. Sess, this is Sango Taijiya. She is the sweet person I was telling you about; she is also my boss and good friend.” She introduced them.
“It is a pleasure to meet you Miss. Taijiya.” He returned politely, reaching out his had.
Sango’s jaw had dropped when Kagome had introduced the tall handsome man next to her. He was gorgeous! She stared at him stupidly for a moment before she collected her wits, and closed her mouth with a click. “It is a pleasure, and please you can call me Sango.” She returned, reaching to clasp his hand. She gasped when she felt a slight jolt go up her arm, and she quickly pulled her hand back.
Sango looked more closely at him. ‘He looks human.’ She thought. “Mr. Tasio, do you mind if I ask you a fairly personal question?”
Sesshomaru raised one eyebrow elegantly. “Call me Sesshomaru please. And feel free to ask, but I reserve the right to not answer.” He replied smoothly.
She took a breath. “Sesshomaru, are you a demon?” she said boldly, looking him in the eyes as she asked. ‘Kagome is like a sister to me, and if I can help protect her from harm, I will do so.’ she thought fiercely.
Kagome looked sharply at her friend and boss. ‘How did she guess? He isn’t showing any of his demonic qualities?’ she wondered silently. ‘Wow, could Sango know that I am now too a demon?’
His other eyebrow rose to join the first. “Exceptionally bold, Sango. Why would you ask me such a question? Ah!” Something seemed to dawn on him. “Well done little taijiya. Yes, I am a demon, but I mean no harm to Kagome. Nor will I hold such boldness against you in asking. I understand that you are just looking to protect your friend. She is with me of her own violation. You can ask her yourself. Kagome, my love,” her turned to face her. “I will go ahead several stores so you and your friend can speak.” He leaned down and kissed her chastely on the lips, before turning back to Sango. “It was a pleasure Sango. I hope that we will meet again.” He tilted his head slightly, then turned and walked about five stores ahead, looking at the display of knives and swords.
Sango watched him walk away. She felt a little guilty about exposing him in front of Kagome, but most demons that she knew weren’t upfront about their demonic side until the female was well into the first pregnancy. She turned back to Kagome, looking at her friend. Something seemed different about her, she looked the same, it was something in the way she was carrying herself. She narrowed her eyes, as something dawned on her. “Kagome, Sesshomaru looks a lot like Inu Yasha. Please don’t tell me that you fell for him because of this? A demonic mating is forever, or until one or the other dies in a battle. How did you meet your new mate?” she asked.
Kagome looked at her friend. She was dressed nice in black slacks and a black three-quarter length sleeved shirt, completed with black leather boots. Her hair was back in a high ponytail instead of her usual bun at the nape of her neck. “Yes, he does look like Yasha,” she replied. “It’s because they are half brothers. I met Sesshomaru at The Twilight yesterday. He took me out for dinner at The Old Mill. Sango, he defended me against Yasha and Kikyo!” she said incredulously. Sango’s eyes widened at this. “He has treated me kindly, and I knew before we mated that he was a demon. Remember, I am a Miko and I could tell when I first met him that he was a demon. I’m just wondering; how did you know? None of his marks were showing.” She questioned her friend.
Sango’s eyes were still wide. “He defended you, against Kikyo? And you didn’t know each other that long? And you still mated him? Knowing that your lineage and his has never mixed well before?” she questioned incredulously.
Kagome sighed. “Yes Sango. He defended me after I tore a strip off both of them for attempting to humiliate me again. I guess that I just had enough. I understand that we haven’t known each other for long, but I feel this strong connection to him, I have since we met. And I assume that he felt the same. I also understand that our lineages haven’t gotten along much in the past, but this feels fated, like we were meant to be. And you never answered my question for you.” She smiled slightly. “How did you know that he was a demon?”
“Wow.” Sango said quietly. She gave herself a mental shake. “Kagome, I am going to tell you some thing that very few people know, and I ask that you keep it to yourself. Do I have your word?” She said seriously.
“Of course you have my word.”
Sango sighed and glanced around; making sure that no one was paying them any attention. “I am from a long line of demon slayers. We have a certain sense that helps us to notice the difference between a demon and a human. So even though he looks human, his aura is different from that of a human.” She frowned slightly in thought. “Your aura is different than normal too, but that could be because you have mated to him, and have taken some of his aura as your own.”
* Smart little taijiya. She noticed that you are different, but hasn’t put it together right that you are also now a demon. * Sakura said.
‘True. But I think that I should tell my mate that I am what I am now, before I tell my best friend, don’t ya think?’ Kagome said wryly in return.
* Good idea. I wonder, why he hasn’t mentioned it yet? I’m sure he has noticed. * She wondered.
‘Hmm.’ Kagome said in return.
“Well Sango that certainly explains why you questioned him. And he guessed what you are? Ah well! This is a lot to take in right now, and I do have to get going. But it was nice to talk with you away from work. Maybe we can get together again tomorrow when you’re done work and talk some more?” Kagome said, noticing that Sesshomaru was no longer on the street. She knew that he had to be somewhere soon, and she didn’t want to make him late. She also wanted to just sit down with Sango and talk to her about stuff, the slayer thing, her being a demon, and if Sango had any idea about the Shikon.
Sango glanced at her watch noticing the time. “Damn. I was supposed to meet Kohaku ten minutes ago. Sure, I’ll meet you at the shrine tomorrow after work? I’m off early, at 1pm, so I will be there at say 2ish? This way I can go home and change.”
“Sure it sounds good.” Kagome replied. She impulsively leaned over and hugged Sango. “Thank you for sticking by me, and worrying about me. I don’t know that I would have met Sesshomaru with out your help.” She whispered as she let her go.
Sango was slightly surprised at Kagome’s words, but hugged her back. “Kagome, I am your friend, regardless of what else happens. Now I really have to go before Kohaku pitches a fit when I get to him. You go and play with your new mate.” She said with a mischievous smile, and she turned and walked way.
Kagome smiled a bit too. ‘Now, to find out what has captured my mate’s attention?’ She thought as she turned and went towards the store that he was standing in front of when he left Sango and her alone.
‘It was nice of him to leave us to talk. I am glad that we had the chance, and will have another come tomorrow.’ She thought as she walked into the sword store. She got a few feet in the door and she stopped in her tracks. Her mouth started to water at the sight that greeted her.
