Sight Of The Blind

Chapter Twenty

"Kirara," Kagome picked up the little neko, together they walked back to the bedroom. The miko felt like a weight had been lifted off her shoulders. Did it matter if they wanted her? She would always love freely, it was her way. She punched the code in and the door slid open. Tilynn was inside waiting for her, both boys were asleep. The two men standing next to the window turned at her entrance. Kagome greeted the old lady with a hug. "Glad you could make it."

"You should be ashamed of youself frightening me like that. I almost lost it getting up to find you and the little ones gone." She scolded the young girl.

"Sorry," Kagome flushed, she hadn't thought about that. "Forgive me?"

"Hmph. Don't do it again. I'm too old for that kind of shock." She grumbled to herself as she walked to sit in the chair placed by the bed.

"Yomi," Kagome waited for him to register the fact that she was talking. When he acknowledged her, she frowned. What the hell was that look for? She'd been about to ask him to accompany her on a ride around the surrounding area. The look stopped her cold. "Never mind. I'll be back shortly Tilynn, please stay with them."

"Course, be careful."

Kagome left the room, trying to calm her nerves. She guessed she deserved that look. After all she'd kept their children from them for almost three years. Her walk led her onto another balcony, "Let's go Kirara." The cat transformed and the girl hopped on. They took off into the air.

Back in the room Tilynn looked over the blind youkai. She shook her head, "You could have accompanied her you know. You're lucky I'm not a century younger or I'd have gotten up and wiped that look off your face."

"You dare speak to me that way?" Rage filled him.

"You damn right I do. You both need to be castrated. Neither can blame her for nothing yet you two stand there like you have all the right. Get out both of you, the young ones are sleeping." She waved her hand dismissing them.

Kurama started smiling at Yomi's confused look. "Seems our Kagome has won her over as well."


The two flew across the sky for several hours searching. Kagome started to despair, where could he hide? She didn't know these lands any better than she had known the ones in the fuedel era. Yomi's help would have been greatly appreciated. Things didn't look to good. Naraku had to be out here somewhere. He never went too far from his prey. Fear escalated the more she thought about it.

He'd been almost as powerful as he was the day he'd died. But he'd been using the power of the jewel then. How had he retained that power after death? She tried to think back when she'd fought him. For those few minutes of being in his presence she'd felt a slight tingling in her side.

The more she thought about it the more it made sense. The jewel had recognized him, for the jewel and herself it hadn't been but a little over five years since he'd been dead. Had he somehow made a permanent connection with it, while he held it in his grasp? If so then what did it all mean. The jewel seemed less powerful in her as she tried to sense it's power. She'd never taken the time to pay attention before.

How had he managed to keep some of the power, had he really been that strong at the time of death? If so things did not bode well for her or the others. Giving up for the day, she instructed the neko to turn around and head back.

Kirara suddenly growled and jerked to the side. Kagome held on for dear life as the cat almost fell out the sky. The cat straightened herself in time to dodge once more. "Kirara get us out of here now." Blasts were coming from the woods below. Kirara moved once more trying to keep them both from being hit. Kagome cried out as one tore across her side inches above where the jewel was located. Pain almost caused her to pass out. Kirara was hit in the hind leg causing her to almost fall.

Suddenly a shield surrounded them and the blasts bounced off. Kagome sighed when she felt the Tetsusaiga pulsing on her waist. Her hand went to her side, she was bleeding pretty bad. "Go."

Sesshoumaru was standing in the room speaking to Koenma and the others. He had just informed them that Naraku would stay in hiding until he recovered from his wounds. How long that would take no one knew. He also told them something was different this time. Naraku had his power before from the jewel. Now after being reborn he still had them.

He felt the two men's anger as well. He almost smiled at the thought. Kagome was worried that neither wanted her yet they were both ready to burst from their jealousy. It was so thick he could almost choke on it. His eyes widened when the Tensiega started pulsing suddenly getting everyone's attention.

Sesshoumaru glanced down at the sword. It hadn't tried to use him in centuries not since Rin. A growl escaped him, "Where's Kagome?"


Kagome was sure she'd bleed to death before they got back. Naraku kept interfering with their escape. The barrier from Tetsusiaga was up which kept him from getting too close. His laughter rang through her ears as he toyed with her. Fear filled her seeing him again. He was different somehow, the bastard didn't even look hurt from the other day. Before it would take him weeks to recover. What sent chills down her spine was the way he looked at her.

"Why run Kagome? Soon your cat will have to fall and there is no one here to save you."

"I won't let you have the jewel."

"My little miko haven't you figured it out yet? The jewel is useless to me now, it's power almost all but gone." At her fallen expression he laughed. "Sure some remains but not worth my attention. Somehow I kept the power within my soul. I no longer seek the jewel."

"Then why are you after me if not for the jewel?" Kirara tried to go around him but he cut her off.

"With this power I have obtained I will have my vegeance and all that I desire. I will take over the Makai and I shall have you. Have I mentioned I no longer have any attachment to the human heart that once belonged to Onigumo? Seems, I am finally free at last." He peered at her. "After seeing you the other day, I've found I desire to take my vegeance on you out in a much more pleasurable way."

"I'd die first." Kagome shuddered at the idea.

"Sorry, I can't allow that. Not yet anyways. Now surrender to me, you will pass out eventually from blood loss. I am very patient I assure you."

Kagome knew he was telling the truth, she was already beginning to get dizzy. If she unsheathed the Tetsusiaga the barrier would fall, he'd get to her before she had time to take a swing at him. He sent a tenacle at the barrier aiming for the neko. It hit the invisible wall forcefully.

"Naraku," Sesshoumaru appeared near them, he unsheathed his fang.

Naraku turned a smile to the girl. "I'll be seeing you soon." He disappeared in a gust of miasma.

Kagome felt relief fill her as the darkness came, her eyes closed as she pitched sideways. She started to fall to the ground, Sesshoumaru caught her in his arms. The neko transformed and landed on his shoulders. He could sense the others coming after him.

He landed on the ground and placed the girl down with the cat on her stomach, they were both hurt. He sliced over them with the fang. The wounds closed as he placed it back, he bent and picked both of them up. He had heard Naraku's parting words and didn't like it. The threat had sounded personal, holding promise. Her entire left side was covered in blood, it made him see red.

The others joined him in under a minute, he glanced in their direction. He looked up and spoke, "I'm taking her back." He took off into the sky, leaving them to follow. If he'd been considerate, he would have informed them that she was fine. Instead he left them with the image of her covered in blood laying unconscious in his arms.
