Sorry I just wanted to clean this up. I'm working on another chapter. Please be patient--it's not going as smoothly as I hoped.

Chapter 21
Ode to Sake

Inuyasha grumbled as he went through the kitchen. He had found some cured pork. He took a bite of the already cooked meal, and spit it out.

Going through the cupboards, he grabbed a bottle of Sake. He needed it after the intrusion of his dear brother. "Shit!" he cursed aloud. The bottle had been empty, moving around the other jars; he came across a full bottle. Popping the cork, he had no trouble drowning in his misery.

The Sake burned as he drank the liquid like water from a cold spring--but it was more like drinking out of a hot spring. The substance numbed him, leaving him with his thoughts. That is until he heard his mate and brother. This infuriated him. Why did she scream like that with Sesshomaru but never with him? His ears flattened in contemplation. Inuyasha growled feeling his sexual confidence deflate into nothing. He shook his head, taking another swig from the jug. "Nah..." he spoke aloud. He couldn't think like that, he would just show her. Show her that he was the only one who could make her head spin with intense orgasms.

Gaining some of his confidence, Inuyasha smirked and took another healthy sip from the jug. He quickly spit out the clear liquid when he heard her again... but this time she called out "Oh God! Sesshomaru..."

Inuyasha rose to his feet, "That's it!" he roared. There was no way his brother was going to best him. He would show Kagome. He would have her pay for her betrayal--for in his mind he was the only one aloud to make her scream her crescendos to the heavens.

Hell bent on his retribution, induced he stumbled against the oak counter knocking one of the empty bottles on to the hard wooden floor. He chuckled slightly as the jug shattered into little pieces.

Taking another swig, he realized that his bottle was almost empty "Can't have that." He carefully watched his step. He could hear his pants graze over the glass. However, he didn't care, the help would clean it in the morning. "Fuck!" he cursed loudly, looking for another jar of Sake. He smiled there was one more jug. Satisfied he finished his first jar and opened his second jug.

Inuyasha satisfied, continued on his wayward mission on showing his mate...who the top dog was. On his way out of the kitchen, he ran into Koga.

"Watch yourself wolf! I'm not in the mood to deal with you tonight." Inuyasha said with a slur.

Koga woke with his dream girl down the hall. Not being able to sleep he wanted to grab a bite to eat. Therefore, he threw on his pants and went on his way--not expecting to run into the lord, who was noticeably drunk.

Koga smiled, "And here, I thought you were the one making your mate scream like that...but I can see that's not the case and that's why your in here drinking."

"Fuck off wolf...I know how to pleasure my mate." Inuyasha began to walk past Koga. He would not let that wolf interfere with his plans. That is until he sniffed the surrounding area. His eyes opened it utter shock. He turned his attention back at the wolf.

"Koga-"

Koga stopped, "yeah?" he responded nonchalantly.

"Do you smell a cat?"

Koga sniffed the air, "Yeah why?"

"I hate cats..." Inuyasha did not like cats; he had always felt an urge to chase them. However, Inuyasha was not expecting what he found around the corner.

Kirara was not asleep as she lay with the human on the cot. The bleeding had finally stopped and she was extremely grateful of Sango and the loving care she showed her. Kirara never knew humans could be so kind. She liked Sango.

Therefore, when she heard the commotion out in the hall, she was not only curious. However, felt the urgent need to protect Sango. So stealth fully she retreated out of the room. She was not able to return to her normal size, for her injuries still to severe. She would need a day or two to recoup. Nevertheless, that would not stop her from defending her new friend even if it meant her death, and after hearing that this dog demon didn't like cats. She would show him a thing or two.

Kirara stood her ground and growled fiercely at Inuyasha. She narrowed her eyes and arched her back, saying: "Fuck with me dog and I'll tear you from limb to limb!"

Inuyasha growled he sure the hell didn't expect a very large feline in front of him, and he began to blame the sake, for making her appear larger than he thought she should be. "Koga?" he called. He needed to make sure that he was just drunk. He was quite perturbed when he wasn't able to make it up the stairs without some kind of distraction.

Inuyasha was not in the least intimidated by the cat, and just snorted taking yet another swig. He waited patiently for Koga. "Damn cat,” he mumbled earning another hiss from the feline before him, "You too."

Kirara was puzzled to say the least, why wasn't he attacking her? She sniffed the air as her nose scrunched up and sneezed. "Dog, what the hell is that stench?" She couldn't help but ask.

"It's called Sake." Inuyasha answered unaware that he was responding to the oversized cat. "Damn Koga, I already told you...weren't you paying attention." Inuyasha said with a strong slur.

"Paying attention to what?" Koga answered walking around the corner of the hall. He was waiting for Inuyasha to bark and chase the cat out of the palace. Now he found the irony funny. The cat was large enough to give Inuyasha a lesson in kitty manners.

"Huh?" Inuyasha said disgruntling. "Did you not just ask me why I stink?"

Koga rolled his eyes, "No Inuyasha. You’re just drunk."

Kirara stood their she wasn't expecting the wolf to show up. She knew he was in the castle; it was a very noticeable scent. However, when they were in deep discussion, she didn't feel any threat and sat down. She yawned in boredom and would give anything to just go back to sleep. However, for some reason they were enjoyable to watch.

"You did too! And no I'm not drunk."

“You are too!" Koga responded.

Inuyasha growled, "Fuck off! I'm not drunk...and look at the size of that cat!"

Koga chuckled, "yes I see. But you also need to lay off the sake." Koga tried to grab the bottle out of Inuyasha's hands. However, was impressed when Inuyasha was quick and easily defended his precious drink.

"Hah! See I told you I wasn't drunk." Inuyasha smirked. Even though he knew, he was.

Kirara have had enough, "Are you two done? Because I'm tired and you’re wasting my time."

Inuyasha and Koga stopped bantering.

Inuyasha looked at Koga, "your right I must be drunk...that damn cat talked."

"Yep, but don't all cats. Inuyasha take my word when I tell your drunk; because you are." Koga snorted.

Inuyasha was about to respond. He had forgotten why he was standing in front of the cat. It all came back to him and he began to growl fiercely. That is until he heard yet again, the sinful cries of the lovers down the hall. He growled louder than before, now he was snarling. He looked over to Koga who now had held his head down. Then looked at the cat, narrowing his eyes he spoke harshly, "I will deal with you later...I have a bitch to punish!"

With his Sake in hand, Inuyasha stalked down the hall angrily, screaming his mate’s name: "Kagome!"

Koga shrugged his shoulders and left, while Kirara snorted and retreated to her room.

Sesshomaru and Kagome just fell asleep, until she heard the dreadful call coming from her mate. She arose as she looked at Sesshomaru who was sound asleep. "Some protector you are." She said with a sarcastic tone.

"Are you asking for protection from Inuyasha, my love?" Sesshomaru whispered.

She smiled, but it quickly retreated when she heard Inuyasha again, "Kagome!"

She immediately flattened her ears. Her instincts were telling her to flee. She rubbed the jewel gently hoping for some kind of comfort. She had no idea why Inuyasha sounded so irate, and was too tired to find out. Therefore, she jumped out of bed and looked around frantically to find a hiding spot.

Sesshomaru chuckled as he watched her with one eye open...so to speak. "And where are you going to hide?"

Kagome squeaked Inuyasha was getting closer.

"Ka...gooo..mmeee!" Inuyasha yelled louder as he continued down the dark hallway. He didn't care if he woke the whole palace. They would soon know what his intentions were.

"There is nowhere to hide, my love." Sesshomaru snickered. "Although Kagome, I could hide you underneath me."

Kagome turned her head quickly, and looked at Sesshomaru, “I might have to take you up on that offer, my love."

She ran towards the door, hoping to hear some kind of movement, but there was none. Yet she knew he was there, she could smell him, but also smelt the sake. “Inuyasha’s drunk."

"Kagome… You can't hide; I will find you...then your mine."

"Oh god is he serious!"

"My love what ever did you do to get Inuyasha so riled up?"

Kagome didn't know, she just knew to try to outsmart her mate. Nonetheless, she didn't expect Inuyasha to open the door with such velocity. The look in his eyes was fierce.

"Kagome, you weren't planning on going anywhere were you?" he asked while taking a refreshing swig.

"Inuyasha you’re drunk."

Inuyasha laughed, then took a hard look at his brother, "She won't be spending the rest of the night with you dear brother."

Sesshomaru quirked an eyebrow, "Are you threatening me?"

Inuyasha growled, "No I'm promising you. Kagome is mine and needs her necessary punishment for betraying her mate."

Kagome looked stunned, "What punishment? What did I do?"

Inuyasha growled then advanced on her, but Sesshomaru was quick and stood in front of her. "Inuyasha...stop this madness now! Go to bed and sleep off your drunken haze."

Inuyasha growled as he tried his best not to slur his words, "How many fucking times do I have to tell you that I'm not drunk!" He tried to keep his balance. "Now step out of my way. I have a lesson to teach my mate."

"Not tonight Inuyasha!" Sesshomaru said sternly. "Now you either sober up or go to bed...or I will make you regret challenging me."

"I will fight the both of you." But before Inuyasha made a move he suddenly felt dizzy and passed out on the floor, as the rest of his sake drained onto the rug.

"Inuyasha," Kagome said slightly concerned.

"He will be okay." Sesshomaru reassured her, "I'll get him into bed...he will be his normal self come morning.”

Inuyasha groaned as he felt himself being lifted, his head was spinning. Okay so he was drunk, but that didn't mean that he forgot. Tomorrow was another day...although he would have to get over his hangover he was sure to have the following morning.
