Chapter 20: Distraught

Miroku was having a hard time controlling his loved one. She was distressed and was trying anything and everything to get out of his grasp. "Miroku." Sango practically hissed irritated at him. Didn't he want to jump into action and save Kagome?

Rin and Shippo had been sent away to be taken care of by their attendants and Sesshomaru had disappeared. "Sango do I need to take you to a room and bind you down on a chair?" Miroku asked her practically dragging her. Sango rolled her eyes. She could've slapped him saying that was 'a really lecherous statement' but right now he was just concerned about her and Kagome. Fine. She'd go along with him….for now. Sesshomaru would take care of Kagome right?

-Dungeons-

This was bull shit! Inuyasha tried to break free from his binds, struggling and heard a voice and someone walking up to him. Maybe this said person would help him! Yeah right his inner demon said, 'Sesshomaru's guards are and would be loyal to him till the end of time' Still….He'd still try and get out of these binds! He struggled as a general by the looks of him, walked up and looked down at him. He sighed as he took in messy silver hair and a disgruntled look on the prince.

"Oi! Who the hell are you?" Inuyasha asked rudely. "….and where's my mate Kikyo?"

"My name is Haru, Inuyasha. As for your mate….she has vanished. Could it be she deserted you and is loyal to the Daimyo himself? Her own human kind? "….and you should've known better Inuyasha. Sesshomaru-sama doesn't take any explanation into account from anyone when it comes to his mate and pups." That said the general walked off leaving a stunned hanyou, a shiver running down his spine.

He was a dead dog and he knew it. Kikyo….it couldn't be. She would never….he slumped over and sat back on the ground feeling defeated. She would never…..

-Study-

Sesshomaru knew Kagome was smart enough to take care of herself and stall for time. The hidden door closed behind him and there was a knock on the door….this made him frown. Who dared to? He turned towards the fireplace, staring at the flames and told the person to enter. He was in no mood to converse with anyone right now but it could be Rin, Shippo or something important.

The person walked in and bowed to Sesshomaru. "I've a message for you." the person said to Sesshomaru whose back was to him. There was no response just a nod of Sesshomaru's silver hair. Odd…how casual this conversation was and how this person addressed Sesshomaru so…informally?

-Rin and Shippo- (Rin's Pavilion)

Shippo sat across Rin who was biting her lip in concentration? He tried not to look too worried at least for her sake. A cold shiver ran down his spine when he saw Rin's distraught expression and when she asked him, "Shippo-kun do you think mama is safe?" she asked.

He didn't answer her right away. Looking down at the ground- his usually happy green eyes were troubled. Her words had a hidden meaning to them. A question that would the Daimyo hurt or do anything else to Kagome? Would she be okay? It was the heart-sinking feeling of dread.

'Shippo-kun is mama safe?'

He swallowed and answered her best he could. Rin didn't seem convinced by his words and wisely chose not to say anything else. She had to do something…they had to do something to help Kagome. But what? She stood up and paced back and forth. The warmth of the fireplace wasn't helping.

"Rin-chan." Shippo said, now standing up to walk up to her and say something but even he knew no words would help. The situation was just that delicate and terrible. "….let's bother and aggravate and do a bit of 'mischief' people here in the palace and have a few laughs." He ended. Rin nodded and followed him out the door. Anything. Just anything to get her mind off her mother.

He grinned and nodded at the palace maid in front of them. Bingo. Their first prey….

-Jail- (Department of torture)

"Do you have anything to say before I pass your sentence wench?" a demon asked her, his tone—cruel. So ice-cold it even made the others shiver in fear. Sesshomaru had designated the assassin named Takeshi to handle and interrogate things here. Yes…people would never do anything bad. So that meant Sesshomaru had two assassin's in his palace? Daichi….where was he?

"I didn't do anything to harm your precious lady Kagome! I was just following orders and doing my best to aid Sessho…." Aika said coughing. Her eyes closed and she breathed heavily-the scent of blood was now noticeable. She screamed in pain as she felt the whip.

"Not going to confess at all are you?" he said. He nodded to the others and they then took a hard stick and tortured her. She screamed again as some demons winced at her shriek. She would speak.

Yes…he'd make sure of that. He wouldn't settle for anything less. The nerve of her saying Sesshomaru's name so casually? He wouldn't have it. His brother Daichi would see to lady Kagome. Her highness…

That Daimyo had tried getting his hands on her for the last time. Sesshomaru would not listen to her forgiving and kind heart this time…..

-Study-

Sesshomaru didn't turn around as he listened to what Sango was telling him. She said that they couldn't wait for guards or anything and needed to go right now and destroy said Daimyo-and to hell with everyone else who was in their way.

"Sango I'm sure that…." Miroku started.

"I am aware where Kagome is now." Sesshomaru said. He told her it wasn't far and a few other things. Looked like that book in the restricted section came in handy (but of course he hadn't told her about the hidden room or what it held) She seemed a bit calmer now, the grip on her boomerang less tight.

"Do not worry Sango. You are most welcome to come along and destroy whatever you wish there." Sesshomaru said with a nod of his silver hair. Sango smiled…a one that would make someone look at her in disbelief.

'…..'

Miroku was speechless….
