“Sesshoumaru-sama would not want Rin to lie.”



The demon lord’s shoulders dropped. She thought it would be a good plan if Rin played along, but the girl was being loyal in the most difficult way.



With a deep sigh, ‘he’ rolled a clawed hand in the air as if trying to advance the conversation through its motion. “It’s not really lying, Rin-chan; its playing along with us. Just pretend that I actually am Sesshoumaru and that he is me, and maybe help him be me a bit. Sesshoumaru doesn’t want anyone to know because it might put all of us in danger.”



Rin’s attempt to appear seriously in thought was ruined by her sheer adorableness as she tapped a small finger to her chin several times. Coming to a resolution, she stood up, tightened her ponytail even more off-centered than before, and with eyes leveled to 'Sesshoumaru's', she smiled at her false lord.



“If Sesshoumaru-sama can do it, than Rin can too!”



Another off character grin exposed the tips of the taiyoukai’s fangs and Kagome, lifting ‘himself’ up, couldn’t resist teasing her a little. “You changed your mind fast.”



Rin skipped past, offering a bright grin and a simple explanation. “Sesshoumaru-sama never lies. So, Rin won’t be lying.”



A deep chuckle joined a new song Rin was inventing as they moved back through the forest.



“Also,” Rin added after a moment, “Rin never plays games with Sesshoumaru-sama and Rin can’t say ‘no’ if Sesshoumaru-sama asks. Rin will be the best player! No one will know!”



After a small hike they approached the waiting group, anxious to get moving once again. ‘Sesshoumaru’ stopped by Ah-Un, quickly putting the silk-wrapped dagger in a satchel, but little Rin rushed to the miko sitting under a tree, surrounded by strange, shiny papers. “Hi, Kagome-sama!”



‘Kagome’ stopped chewing to stare. His ward was all smiles, all life, and all back to normal. Whatever the miko did, it pleased him to see Rin no longer saddened.



“May Rin travel with Kagome-sama today?”



It wasn’t much, but her trailing after him would be at least something resembling normal, and it set him just a little at ease. ‘She’ handed the little girl another brightly wrapped chocolate bar from the strange, yellow bag and as the two devoured the sweets, ‘Kagome’ placed a hand on Rin’s head and smiled for the first time since the body swap.
