A/N: Hey everyone, I hope that all is doing well. Well, I just came back from a friends house who is getting ready to move to antoher state. I am happy for her and sad at the same time. She was here with me since we met in high school ten years ago. And now, she is moving very far away. But, she is going to be in a new location her job is relocating her and has given her an opportunity that she would have been crazy to refuse, so, this is a good thing. Out there too she'll be closer to her boyfriend who seems to be a very nice man, straight forward, god fearing, hard working and honest, so, maybe all of her dreams will come true. Lets all cross our fingers for my friend ok.
Well, I am glad that I had a good response to my last chapter, not as many as I had that one time when I held a chapter up for ransom, but, hey, I can't twist your arms for those of you who don't review, however, for those of you who do I want to thank you; Chanda, Angel, Moon Angel, Tainted Dreams, Cathy, Linda, Madluv2u and Kouga's Rival for reviewing this chapter you are all wonderful wonderful people.

After the ceremony of the introduction to all five of Sesshomaru’s children there was a big festival, Sesshomaru really didn’t like functions this big, but, it was tradition to throw such a big affair for all of the important youkai who would be attending. For weeks preparations were made and foods being prepared.
While things were a little quiet Inuyasha took that opportunity to visit with his nieces and nephews when he happened on the new mother softly singing a lullaby to them and breast feeding one.
“Hey Ayame, how are you feeling?” He whispered.
Ayame turned around and smiled at her brother in law.
“I’m tired.”
“Yeah I bet, one child from my brother would have been enough, how the hell do you do it with five?”
He kept looking at her breastfeeding the one pup, but then imaged all of them wanting to feed off her at the same time.
“How do you do that to all of them? Doesn’t it hurt?”
Ayame smiled softly at the innocent question.
“Well it seems that I am lucky to have a couple of wolves that are lactating. They help me.”
“Your wolves?”
“Uh hum.” She responded trying to hold back a giggle after seeing Inuyasha’s face.
“Well, why don’t you just transform and feed them all yourself? You’d be able too then.”
Ayame shook her head than sadly.
“I wish I could, but Sesshomaru doesn’t want me to. It would take too much of my energy.”
“What does that have to do with anything?”
“Why Inuyasha didn’t you know…the barrier…it’s causing a lot out of us youkai now to vanish, those of us who’ve been around a long time, well, it hasn’t affected us yet if we don’t use a lot of our ki. Hadn’t Sesshomaru told you this?”
Inuyasha shook his head to her answer.
“Is that why you didn’t transform while giving birth?”
“Yes, this dimension of ours has weakened tremendously in the past months.”
“How did Sesshomaru come about with this news?”
“Wow, my husband must’ve been more anxious than I previously thought. I do apologize Inuyasha; he would have told you had it not been for me. I was too moody with this pregnancy. I’m surprised I hadn’t caused my own death yet by his hands I’ve been a total bitch.”
“Feh, it’s not like I can blame you, you were carrying five of those things in humanoid form.”
Ayame smiled. “Well, it seems that some lower youkai are disappearing, in fact, I believe that they were fading from around your area.”
“My area, I hadn’t heard of any missing youkai, except for the ones that were either vanquished by Shippo, that new priestess or myself.”
“Hmm, I don’t know much only that the lesser youkai in that region have been attacking humans in order to build their own powers so that they can survive. But, I think what my husband is worried about is that if all the lesser youkai disappear than we stronger youkai will be the next to go.”
Inuyasha thought about what she had said as he caressed one of the soft downy heads of a little girl. Ayame put the one she was breast-feeding down in a bassinet of white fur and touched Inuyasha’s hand lightly.
“When are you going to have a family of your own? You deserve it you know.”
“Nah, it’s not for me, you had enough for me to enjoy.”
Ayame shook her head in the negative and then looked down at her babies.
“It’s not the same Inuyasha as knowing that you helped to create life. It’s not the same as knowing that you will live on through them should you pass away. It’s weird to feel that way, but, even we youkai will die eventually if wars don’t take us sooner.”
“Ayame, I’ve been cursed and I can live with it. I tried love twice and it didn’t go well for me.”
“I know how you feel Inuyasha believe me I do, I loved Kouga with everything in me, I needed him to make me feel complete. But, he rejected me. I gave up on love too, but, it didn’t give up on me.”
“Keh, you women are always so damn soft hearted. Look, according to my history, I was not meant for love ok. Now drop it.”
Ayame looked into his eyes. It unnerved Inuyasha a little since it seemed that she was looking past him into another world or something.
“Ayame?”
“No Inuyasha, your not destined to be alone. Your other half is closer than you think.”
With that she smiled impishly and giggled when she noticed Inuyasha scowling.
“What kind of horse crap are you trying to feed me wench.”
She giggled some more and when he left the room in a gruff she was nearly doubled over in silent laughter so she wouldn’t wake the cubs.
Inuyasha traveled to the grand hall where Sesshomaru and some of the other people were still celebrating. Being that it is winter they could be doing this for a couple of months.
Inuyasha looked back one more time from where he left and growled up at her. Though she was long out of range he still cursed her under his breath.
How many times did he have to keep telling people that he wasn’t going to get his heart broken again?
“Inuyasha, what are you waiting for join us!” Said Iruka.
Inuyasha sat down at the table and began to feast with the lords that sat with them.
As usual the talk was boring until they started to talk about the problem with the dimension.
“So, Lord Sesshomaru, what are you going to do about the situation?”
“I already have someone in mind to look into it for me?” He picked up his cup and drank some more of the smooth sake. It was very rare that the youkai drank, but this was a special occasion after all.
“Who, your brother?” The youkai laughed looking hatefully in Inuyasha’s direction. Some other youkai chuckled as well.
When Sesshomaru didn’t answer the old king of the hawk youkai grumbled.
“But he’s nothing…not a born bred youkai, he’s not real like you or me… or any other youkai in this room…he wished his youkai so how can he possibly do the damn job right?!” He sputtered out angrily.
Sesshomaru looked down into his cup and frowned mentally. Inuyasha stood up in his usual stance and started mouthing off the guy and challenging him.
“Don’t underestimate me, I am a full youkai, and even if I were a hanyou I could kick your ass. As a matter of fact I’ll do it now come on!”
“You are beneath me; you Inuyasha will always be a half breed damnation and you the almighty Lord Sesshomaru are growing weak! Our whole existence is at the brink here and you trust it all to this…this bastard hanyou!”
The air in the room shifted as a very powerful aura swept through the atmosphere that sent a shocking cold chill down the hawk youkai’s back as well as everyone else. Inuyasha backed up some but still held Tessaiga in his hands, while Iruka stood up behind his lord. Jaken and Myouga well, they were hiding out somewhere now.
Sesshomaru stood up and gracefully floated across the table so fast that the hawk lord had no idea what was coming to him. Sesshomaru landed softly on the wooden table and with bended knee swung out his hands and with his razor sharp claws decapitated the head from the loud mouths’ shoulders and waited to hear the thump that hit the floor.
“Does anyone else here have an opinion on how I operate?”
Everyone else shook their heads in the negative and now that the mood of the celebration for the guest was gone they all retired to their rooms for the night intent on leaving in the morning.
The only persons left in the chamber were Jaken, Myouga, Iruka, Inuyasha and Sesshomaru. However, the five of them didn’t let that diversion bother them, once it was cleaned up they continued to drink and talk about Sesshomaru’s new heirs.
Some hours later Jaken and Myouga fell asleep with their drunkenness, Iruka followed his wife to bed after he was sotted and that left Sesshomaru and Inuyasha. Both were now unusually intoxicated since neither one of them really drank alcohol.
“Oi, Sesshomaru, you know you didn’t have to intervene back then, I had him.”
“I needed to make sure that they all respected what I said Inuyasha. Only for that fact did I save your skin.”
“Keh.”
Inuyasha then took some of the stale bread and took a bite.
“Inuyasha…when will you take a mate?”
Inuyasha rolled his eyes; did he have to talk about this again?
“I’m not taking one, I’ve got those concubines they are enough.”
Sesshomaru pounded his clawed fist on the table which caused Inuyasha to start.
“Damn it Inuyasha you are a prince a lord now, you have responsibilities, you must procure a mate and have pups.”
“Why?” Inuyasha growled out totally irritated than he continued.
“You have pups, why the hell should I, I mean really, you had five for crying out loud, they can all take a piece of the throne you set out.”
“I have three daughters Inuyasha, those three will be used to form alliances, not up hold our fathers’ land.”
“I still don’t see what it has to do with me. You’re the one who wants to rule the damn world, not me. I’m happy enough with my little inheritance, if something happens to me, then I’ll make sure that one of my nephews gets it.”
Sesshomaru punched his younger brother in the mouth, which caused Inuyasha to fly back and make an indention of himself in the wall.
“What the hell?”
“Don’t make it seem as easy as that Inuyasha, father paid with his life for you to have that land, your children should inherit it.”
Inuyasha stood up rubbing his jaw and checking for broken teeth with his tongue.
“Then I’ll make sure that I sire a damn bastard then. I am one right?”
Sesshomaru now stood up and had his hand wrapped around Inuyasha’s throat his eyes red now with youkai fury. Inuyasha tried to pry it off, but it seemed that Sesshomaru put in all his strength.
“You need to get over your hatred little brother and stop acting like an ass.”
With that he let his brother drop to the ground panting for air. Sesshomaru stood with his back to Inuyasha.
“You need to place the blame on yourself Inuyasha and stop blaming everyone else for your stupidity; you had plenty of time to tell the wench how you felt.”
“What do you know huh?”
“We are not discussing me.”
“You know what I’m outta here, I’m going home. Fuck finding a mate don’t ask me anymore about finding a damn wench, I’m tired of hearing about it.”
And with that, Inuyasha bounded out the door. Sesshomaru stood there and sighed.
‘Inuyasha, why are you showing such weakness over what that mortal did to you. It shames our whole family.’
Meanwhile, Youkai who were traveling through the lands to go and visit the lord of the western lands had stopped by Inuyasha’s small castle. Shippo let them in and ordered that their needs be met. Servants were scurrying about trying to make Inuyasha’s guest comfortable, for it would do no good to embarrass their lord while he was away.
However, there were so many that Shippo was overwhelmed with his responsibility and needed some fresh air. He left the youkai dimension and headed toward the well just to sit and think and gain peace of mind.
The snow on the ground was fresh and crisp. The moon was full and everything seemed peaceful and quiet til he heard a piercing scream, loud enough to wake the dead and than he saw a bright flash of light.
