A Look Into Feelings

Chapter Nineteen

Kagome stood by the window inside the large room trying to ignore the two man that sat in the room with her. It made her want to smile but something kept it from appearing. It may have been the stress of the circumstance or envy. She'd returned to her room after eating, both boys needed a nap. The two men sat on the bed watching the kids try to drift off to sleep. As much as she loved her children she suddenly felt jealous. The last three years have taught her to be a different person.

She remembered telling Inuyasha one day that her heart was her own, it was just as true today. For some reason her heart had chosen to allow the two men in the room in. And still they remained. Running away and being tossed aside had given her peace of one sort and anguish of another. Seeing Sesshoumaru had given her closure with Inuyasha. Even now tears filled her eyes at thinking of the two gifts he had left her through his brother. Her hand went up to the rosary around her neck then to the rusty fang at her side. Both left to her, as tokens of his love.

He had forgiven her instantly. Sesshoumaru had informed her that he had lived a long life. Every morning until the day of his death he went to the tree, to remember her. Tucking her love for the hanyou somewhere in the back of her heart, she came to the truth of her other feelings. She knew she loved both men, both in different ways.

Her fingers began to play with the rosary around her neck, she'd never taken it off since the day it had been given to her. A single tear slid down her cheek as she continued to stare out the window. Guilt suddenly plaqued her, she had just went against the one person that had come through for her. The first time she saw him he had tried to be her executioner, in the end he had become her savior. It had been two days and he had yet to return.

Another tear slid down her cheek, he had become her best friend over the last three years. He was silent and withdrawn most of the time but it was the moments when she was able to make him smile. Sometimes she thought he saw Rin when he looked at her and she was okay with that. Sesshoumaru had taken the girl for his mate eventually. Kagome could see the love in his eyes when he spoke of her. The lord still loved the girl the same way she still loved Inuyasha.

The door opened suddenly and she turned around to see him standing in the door. His eyes went straight to her, she saw the breath he'd been holding. Another tear slid down her cheek, a smile graced her lips. Her feet took her across the room and she threw herself in his arms. "You came back."

His arms went around her, "Kagome." They tightened when he smelt her tears, he looked down at the top of her head. His hand came up to lightly stroke the black mass. A smile touched his face as he held her. Had she really been worried that he'd leave her? He knew that part of her self doubt and fear came from the two men watching them. Anger flared suddenly but he quickly shoved it aside. Next to his Rin she was the most amazing creature he'd ever met. No matter what happened now, he would be there for her. He would never be able to find it in himself to have a sexual relationship with her but he loved her just the same. He had almost lost Rin; forcing him to admit that even he was capable of loving.

He knew that the day he had woken up to find a small human girl looking at him, he had started to change. That girl had become everything to him. He still loved her centuries after her death, no other had compared until now. Kagome and her children were special to him. "I'll always be by your side."

Kagome started shaking at hearing the words she'd once spoken to Inuyasha repeated to her. She nodded against his chest trying to get her rampant emotions under control. She lifted her head to look up into his golden eyes, eyes that reflected love for her. The kind of love one has for that one best friend you would always be close to. She gave him a weak smile and her eyes widened as he lowered his head.

Sesshoumaru placed a chaste kiss across her soft mouth. "Come walk with me." He ecorted her out the room, he turned to glance back at the two men watching them. "Don't leave them until we return." It wasn't a request.

Kagome let Sesshoumaru take her hand as they walked. She suddenly felt better with his presence beside her. Her hand tightened on his as she glanced over at him. Why couldn't she have fallen in love with him? Then again what they had was even better. A love that was unconditional and unbreakable. An understanding of each other, acceptance of whom they were. He took her to a balcony overlooking the city.

"What do you plan on doing?" He asked.

"I don't know. It will be a while before Naraku comes out of hiding with the wounds he recieved. What do you suggest?"

He turned to her, "I wasn't refering to him." He placed his hands behind his back and looked off into the distance. "I remember the first time I saw you. For me it has been over five centuries yet I remember it like it happened just yesterday. It was the same for Rin also. You both showed encredible courage as you faced me. The second time I saw you I wondered why my brother would put himself in harm's way just to protect you. Yet months later I did the same for her."

"What are you trying to say?"

"I'm saying you aren't a coward Kagome, never have been. You have always stood up and fought for those that you love." He looked at her finally. "I'm saying be the woman that my brother loved so much. Stand up and fight for what you want; for those you love. They are worth fighting for."

She lowered her head, "How? Besides its a little more complicated than that. I love them both, it's different but the same."

"They are youkai not human. If they both want you they will deal."

"But they don't. How can I fight for something that isn't there?" She didn't want to start crying again.

"How will you know if it is, if you run away?"

"I don't know, maybe you are right." She turned and looked off into the distance. "Thank you, Sesshoumaru."

"Hn." He nodded his head and smiled. "Just don't take any shit off them."

Her laughter rang out over the city.
