Chapter Eighteen


Inuyasha and Sesshomaru had carried on into the night while the women had slept on their backs. Time was wasting, and neither wanted to admit it but they didn't want to come upon another blood bath. To destroy the lives of innocent children and women was a total disrespect of all life. There was also a chance the reason the wolf den was going to be attacked was because Kagome's dauther was there. No one wanted to voice that opinion out loud. They needed to get there in time to warn them about the danger heading their way. The sun was begining to rise and the mountains could be seen in the distance. Inuyasha cursed out loud, the whole damn valley smelled of nothing but wolf. He nor Sesshomaru knew what direction or mountain top the wolves were located and they were losing precious minutes.

Kagome slowly woke up, she'd tried to stay awake last night but fell into a restless sleep upon her mate's back. Even now she wanted to go back to sleep but something was nagging her. She slowly opened her eyes to see that the sun was coming up. Wasn't the attack suppose to happen at dawn. Were they too late? She sighed and the she felt it, the quick tug at her soul. Inuyasha almost jumped out of his skin when Kagome almost flew off his back pointing to the right of their location. "That way, I can sense the jewel."

Michiko heard her mother shout and woke up. She looked up to see her mom almost standing on the poor guy's back. "Hurry, its already dawn." Then she realised what her mother sensed, the jewel half that Kimi had. Which meant Kimi was close and most likely in danger once more. They took off in the direction Kagome pointed.

They arrived at the base of the mountain in time to see the cloud darken and dozens of demons descend from the sky. "Inuyasha, you and your mate catch up." Sesshomaru called his little cloud and heard the girl gasp as they took off into the air.

Kimi woke up when she heard shouting and screaming. She heard Kouga get up and quickly put on his clothes. She watched him run outside in a hurry. Not sure what was going on she slowly got up and found her now dry clothes piled beside her bag. She put on her black turtle neck and black jeans once again. She was sliding on her shoes when she heard someone scream in pain. Kouga's shout interrupted her thoughts, "Get the women and children inside, you men get ready."

They were being attacked she realised, she grabbed her katana and strapped it on. She wasn't going to sit inside while others were being killed. She was almost at the entrance when it was suddenly blocked. Whatever it was, it was hideous. It stood at least six feet in height and had long scales covering its body. Wings were attached to its back fluttering in the background. His claws were black and had to be five inches long. His long tongue slid out his mouth. He turned and smiled when he spotted the human girl, "the master wants you." He took a step forward.

Socks sprang from behind Kimi straight at the demon's neck. The demon howled as the wolf lodged his fangs into his neck tearing the flesh. The went tumbling back out the cave onto the demon's back. He was rolling over the ground trying to pry him off. Kimi took off to help her pet but the moment she stepped outside the cave her eyes took in the scene before her. There were dozens of flying demons much like the one on the ground infront of her. They were covering the sky swooping down over the wolf den, striking at the wolves as they dove down.

His words flashed through her mind, 'The master wants you.' They were here for her because she carried half of the shikon jewel embedded in her body. She wouldn't let these people die for her. Having made her decision she began to climb the mountain hoping to lead them away. The wolves down below were too busy trying to get the women and children to safety to notice her.

Sesshomaru noticed that the fight was just begining, he needed to find their leader. He spotted the young wolf demon known as Kouga standing beside some men shouting orders. He landed beside him causing the wolf to growl. "What the hell are you doing here, Sesshomaru?"

"This Sesshomaru, came to warn you of a raid being carried out against your clan but it would seem you already know." Sesshomaru let go of the human girl's legs letting her drop to the ground. "I shall assist you, no need to waste the lives of your comrades."

Michiko slid to the ground, she glanced over at the wolf demon known as Kouga. He had dark hair instead of white hair like Inuyasha and Sesshomaru. He wasn't too bad looking but his aura radiated cockiness. She was about to look for her mom when she felt it, the presence of her sister. Her heart twitched, as if searching for its other half. "Where is she?" she shouted and both men turned to her. "I know she's here, I can feel her." She shoved the two suprised men out of her way. Heedless of the battle going on around her she ran up the mountain screaming her sister's name. "KIMI."

Kouga's eyes widened when he heard the name of the woman he'd just taken to his bed name slip past the woman's lips. The strange woman knew her somehow. Michiko kept hollering her sister's name, she was so intent on finding her sister she didn't see the flying demon land in front of her till he was standing in front of her growling. "Step aside or experience serious pain." The demon just laughed at her, which pissed her off. She drew back slamming her fist into its face causing him to fly back as a white light consumed his head. By the time he landed against the wall he was dead.

Kimi had made it to the next ridge when she heard her name being called. At first she thought it might be Kouga till she recognised the voice. "Michiko," she ran to the edge and sure enough her sister was standing on the next ledge down and was still making her way up the mountain screaming her name. She decided to make her way back down, if Mich was here so was her mother. She screamed over the edge, "Michiko."

Kouga glanced up when he heard her voice calling from over head, he spotted her up on the mountain. 'What the hell is she doing up there?' Before he could call to her several demons landed in front of him and the dog demon.

Kimi ran down to meet her sister but was stopped short when several demons landed surrounding her. "Fuck me," she tried to look for an avenue of escape but found none.

Sesshomaru and Kouga were set on disposing of the demons when all of them set off to the sky and starting chanting, "The girl, get the girl." Kouga was about to ask what the hell just happened when a scream pierced his ears. He and Sesshomaru could see the blonde screaming, their eyes looked further up to see what had caught all the demons attention. They all seemed focused on the one girl and she was surrounded by at least a dozen of them. And the rest were circling over head. Kouga wasn't sure if he'd make it to her in time.

A bright light streaked across sky destroying those flying over head leaving only those on the ground. Inuyasha and Kagome had made it in time to see them circling over the girl. Kagome didn't think twice as Inuyasha made his way up the mountain as soon as they got within range she notched her bow and let her arrow fly.

Kimi didn't pay attention to what was happening over her head. A growl behind her indicated that Socks had made his way back to her. She pulled her katana and sliced through the nearest demon. The wolf sprang on the next demon trying to reach her. One grabbed her from behind causing her to drop her weapon. She elbowed it in the side and flipped him over bringing her foot upon his neck breaking it instantly. Michiko made it to her sister and cleared a path to her side. They stood back to back as the remaining demons closed in.

"Good to see ya sis," Kimi felt like hugging her.

"Likewise, seems you are drawing a lot of attention." Michiko sliced the demon that reached for her sister.

"Must be the new perfume," She kicked the demon charging her knocking him off the cliff into the valley below.

Kouga never left his spot, there only a few feet from him was Kagome. His Kagome! He'd turned to see what had destroyed the demons and there she was once again on the mutt face's back holding her bow. He stood there like an idiot while a fight was being fought on the ledge above his head. Having one of the flying demons flying past his head by a mere foot brought his attention to the cliff. Kimi and the strange girl stood back to back fighting off the remaining demons. He heard dog shit laugh.

Inuyasha had to laugh at the sight of the two girls, "Like night and day."

Sesshomaru saw exactly what the hanyou saw. Back to back the girls looked exactly like that. It was the first time he'd seen the girl they'd been tracking down. They were an awesome sight to behold, "One incomplete without the other." He chimed in.

Kagome was sitting there on Inuyasha's back gaping as all three men ogled her kids. She cleared her throat and screamed at the top of her lungs, "Stop gawking and you three get your asses up there and help them."

Sesshomaru took to the sky, his ears were ringing. "Damn human wench." He landed in front of them disposing of the rest of the demons in seconds. Inuyasha and Kouga quickly ran up the mountain.

Kimi watched as the demon that looked a lot like Inuyasha easily made quick work of the few remaining. She turned away from him and embraced her sister. Tears were flowing down her cheeks, "I have missed you." Michiko hugged her feeling complete once again.

Inuyasha and Kouga made it to them at the same time. They both stopped several feet away giving them room. Kagome slid off his back and dropped her bow. The sound of it clattering to the ground broke the two up. Kimi looked up to see her mother standing watching her with tears rolling down her cheeks. She let go of her sister and ran to Kagome. She threw her arms around her waist and held her close.

Kouga watched as the two women hugged, what suprised him was when Kagome stepped forward. She had tears streaming down her face. His jaw dropped when his woman ran into the arms of his woman. He felt his world rock when he heard Kimi whisper, "Momma."
