Previously

The hospital came into view, but he stopped mid run when Kagome moved. She was suddenly shaking and having a fit. Blood poured in gushes from her wounds and she was bleeding from the mouth. The shock wore off in seconds and Inuyasha zoomed as fast as possible into the lobby of the hospital. He let loose a furious roar.

"SOMEBODY HELP!!!!!!" the whole hospital stopped and then something happen Kagome........

Chapter Nineteen

Kagome went limp in Inuyasha's arms, all spasms stopped. This would have been good if not for the fact; Inuyasha could no longer hear her rapid heartbeat. Nurse's and assistants rushed to his aid. A man tried to take Kagome from Inuyasha's grip, but he was shoved back and Inuyasha growled a warning. His youkai was flaring and insisted that he protect his mate. A woman who was in her late forties and had blond hair and brown eyes touched his shoulder to calm him to take Kagome. He snarled, but the back of his mind reminded him Kagome needed help and relinquished his hold on his lover to the waiting arms of a nurse.

The second Inuyasha had released Kagome; she was lifted up onto a stretcher, which was waiting near by. Inuyasha watched, while being restrained, as Kagome was wheeled behind white doors and fought against the twelve security guards trying to hold him in a seat. He was on the brink of letting his youkai take over. His cell phone rang off and he realized him and Sesshomaru were in the same hospital, but different parts. 'He can come to me if he wants to speak.'

**********Scene Change**********

Rin twitched awake and turned her head to find Sesshomaru. He was sleeping with his head placed in her lap and his hands covering hers. She smiled and shook his hand lightly; he didn't look comfortable at all. Within a second Sesshomaru's head was up and his eyes were trained on the woman in front of him.

"Are you in pain?" his concern was highly evident in his voice.

"No. You looked...*cough, cough*...uncomfortable." Rin was exerting herself by using her voice.

Sesshomaru was up in moments to tell the doctor she was awake. The doctor was in the room in moments and Sesshomaru sighed in contentment when she said that Rin was doing better. It was as if a twenty ton weight had been lifted off his shoulders and seeing Rin's heart-warming smile added to his relief. He pulled out his phone to see what was going on with Inuyasha. He knew his brother would have gone after his intend and wanted to know what happened. It had been a few hours since he informed his brother of the incident.

RING.RING. RING. Sesshomaru finally gave up and left a message on the voice mail. He refused to go out looking for his younger brother when his mate was still ill.

***********Scene Change*************

Inuyasha had paced the waiting room for nearly four hours before the doctor came out looking for him. Inuyasha's attention was trained on the tall white bearded man with thick glasses and periwinkle blue eyes that greeted people with a warm welcome.

"You're the young man who brought in the raven hair young lady with sever cuts and gashes?" at Inuyasha's nod he continue. "Your young lady's heart stopped. We were able to get her heart going again and bandage her wounds." his voice turned grave with his next sentence and darkness clouded his eyes. "We were unable, however to bring her to consciousness. I'm afraid that she is having an inner struggle. Her mind is very active, but her body refuses to come to the waking world. She is in a coma. Her body is fine so we can only assume it is a self-induced coma. Something she hasn't worked through or perhaps something that has her confused. She could wake up at anytime. An hour, a day, a month, even a year. Until she comes to terms with whatever chaos is conflicting her mental state, she will remain in this state of comatose. I'm sorry. You may see her."

Inuyasha felt like a cannon ball had just struck him in the gut and all the air was sucked from his lungs. He had failed to protect his Kagome. His mate. He had been unable to keep her from harm and now she was in a coma that no one could bring her out of. She was suffering and he couldn't do a thing. He went through the motions of following the doctor. Kagome was laying in a bed with wires and tubes stuck in her. Her heart monitor was beeping and it was a sound that most would find annoying, but to Inuyasha it was the best sound in the world. Kagome looked like an angel, her hair fanned around her and her eyes closed peacefully. The look was only weakened by the machines that had hooked into her and she seemed to be rather pale.

Inuyasha sat down in a chair directly beside her and took her hand in his. It was like she was merely sleeping, but the rapid eye movements and paleness were dead give aways, not to mention the machines. Her mind though in a different place gripped back and he realized, with much relief, Kagome recognized his touch. He laid his head on the metal bar around her bed and kissed her hand, praying for a miracle.

********Kagome's Mind******

Kagome was under the god tree. Her head resting against the bark of the one place she found true comfort, as a child. The day was beautiful and still. The only movement was that of the sakura blossoms falling around her, dancing in the wind. She was at peace as the scent of her childhood home surrounded her sense. The day was normal, but suddenly a white light blinded her, so much so, she shielded her eyes.

When Kagome removed her hand she saw a beautiful woman standing before. A traditional miko's garb was enveloping her. She smiled at Kagome, something Kagome sensed she didn't do often.

"Who are you?" Kagome's question was natural, but she seemed to already sense the answer.

"I'm Midoriko. I was a miko when I was alive. I have come to you child to tell you of a matter, that holds the greatest importance."

Kagome was mesmerized by this woman, but the words "when I was alive" stuck in her head. "Am I dead?" The older woman chuckled.

"No. You are merely in a state of rest. I have come to you to acknowledge you as the protector of the Shikon no Tama. This is a jewel that is in need of your protection. You, Kagome, are its protector and it needs you. It is within you. You must let it out and use it to concur the evil one, in which has harmed you. HE is NEVER to get the Shikon no Tama, or all is lost. You are thee only one whom can protect it and the only one with enough power to stop the one that others could not. You are a gift child and you are blessed." The gorgeous woman bent down and placed a kiss on Kagome’s cheek.

Kagome was so confused. She was supposed to protect and release some jewel that was in her body. This was way weird and how is she powerful. She could barely fight one demon, let alone kill it.

"You have the power child. You must let yourself use it. Now you must return to do as your birth right will see fit. A young man also awaits you. He will be your greatest asset. And Kagome....Do no fear death for you can concur it too, if you see fit." The woman vanished with her last puzzling statement.

Kagome was again alone under the god tree with the pleasant scent of home and wafting flowers. She heard someone’s voice. Was it Inuyasha?

"Please Kagome wake up. I love you. Please wake up. I'll do anything, Kami, I'll do anything. Just please wake up." Inuyasha was sobbing. His head bent over Kagome's hand. Tears were staining his face and blurring his vision. Head down, he rested it on her lap.

Kagome opened her eyes. It took a few moments for her to get used to the lighting in the overly lit room. She saw the machines and needs hooked up to her. The one sight that attained her attention most was the sobbing man with his head in her lap. She raised a delicate hand and ran her hand over his head, which snapped up at the touch. Kagome smiled.

"You're awake. Are you okay? Oh God, Kagome. I missed you." Inuyasha leaned up and planted a soft chaste kiss on her lips. He was fearful of hurting her. She'd been out for five weeks now and finally she was awake. 'Thank you whatever deity up there likes me.' He embraced her lightly as she reciprocated.

"I love you, Inuyasha. I'm fine. How long?" her voice was harsh and croaking, from non-use.

"I love you, too. I'm so glad you're awake. It's been...." he couldn't finish he was afraid to shock her.

"Tell me." she prodded the subject. She needed to know how long she'd been out.

"Five weeks." her eyes widened and her jaw slacked. A month and a week. It had felt like an hour at the most.

"I should see the doctor. Inuyasha could you..." before she finished her sentence he was up and by the door. In this time Kagome took in his appearance. He had bags under his eyes. His clothes were disheveled and he looked as though he'd been to hell and back. Had he stayed there the whole time that she was out? No she didn't think he would put off school that long.

"Well, nice to meet you finally, Miss.Higurashi. I'm Dr.Florentine. You're a very deep sleeper." she smiled at his joke and was returned the favor.

"What can I say, I need my beauty sleep." The doctor chuckled and then examined her. Inuyasha didn't leave her side the entire time. Once the doctor gave her the one over he stated she could leave tomorrow. Inuyasha visibly relaxed at the doctors words. Kagome smiled and thanked him, then turned to Inuyasha.

"How's Rin?" Inuyasha had to take a second to process what she had just said. She had just wakened up from a five week coma and the first thing she thinks of is Rin?

"She's healed. She was out of this hospital within three days. Do you remember anything?" He was asking of the events before the coma, but those thoughts weren't the one on her mind.

"I have a lot to tell you!"

A/N: There you go people. Another chapter down. Quite the revelation uh? Oh well, things are getting interesting. You're probably thinking...How is she supposed to get the jewel out of her body? Where is the jewel in her body? What's she supposed to do to kill Naraku? Will Sesshomaru get his revenge, along with Inu, of course? How much power could Kagome have?
