The Village

The gang stood outside of the remains of Kaede's hut. The villagers were starting to rebuild it. Until it was done the gang slept under the stars and watched over Kagome. They came to the conclusion that until Kagome awoke it would be safer to keep her outside.

Kaede poured Kagome some tea and set it by the fire to cool. She heard Kagome moan and knelt down beside her. She started thrashing her head back and forth. It seemed as if she was in the middle of a bad dream. Kaede placed a wet cloth on Kagomes head. It seemed to calm the girl down.

Shippou felt him okaa-san moving around and jumped up. "Is she waking up?"

"Nay Shippou. I think she is having a bad dream. So far she is still fine and there has been no changes." She picked up the tea she had set aside to cool and helped Kagome drink it. I wonder how much longer before she wakes up.
If it wasn't soon she didn't know what the child's friends would do. Inuyasha was not known as being particularly patient. He was snapping at everyone.

Inuyasha was sitting in the tree above Kagome and Shippou. He heard her make a sound and jumped down and was at her side in an instant. "Is she waking up Old Woman?"

"Must ye treat an old lady such. No Inuyasha she is not waking she is just dreaming." Kaede turned away from the hanyou and replaced the cloth on Kagomes head. She didn't have a fever but the clothes seemed to settle the girl down.

Inuyasha knelt down next to Kagome and smelled something that he never thought he would smell on her again. His brother. Why would she smell like Sesshoumaru. He hasn't been around her. He leaned closer to her and sniffed some more. His scent was stronger around Kagomes neck. He moved her hair out of the way and discovered the bruise on her neck. "That bastard!" How did he manage to make a courtship mark on her without him being here. Maybe it had something to do with that toad that was here the other day. Could he be the reason that she hasn't awoke yet.

Miroku and Sango walked up to the fire and found Inuyasha smelling Kagome.
They looked at each other and shrugged their shoulders in question. "Inuyasha what are you doing?" Sango knelt down to check on Kagome.

"My brother put a courtship mark on Kagome?" He stood up and started pacing around the fire.

Miroku looked at Inuyasha and then Kagome. "Inuyasha how could your brother mark her if he hasn't been here?"

"I don't know but I can smell him and the mark is on her neck. Maybe he is the reason she hasn't woken up yet. Maybe he put a spell on her or something." The more he thought about it the madder he got.

Sango watched him pace. He did know his brothers scent. She was sure that it was not something he would be wrong about. How did Sesshoumaru manage to get to Kagome. Maybe he had done something the other day when he kidnapped her. "Do you think that is why his toad came to the village the other day?"

Kaede listened to the group discuss the newest development. She knew the answer to their questions but was sworn not to say. What was she going to do. Maybe she could distract them from it. "Ye all need to settle down. Ye can not go off and find any answers right now. Ye must not leave Kagome unprotected. With Naraku getting closer to finishing the Shikon no Tama he would not hesitate to attack the child when she is unable to defend herself. We have got to concentrate on getting her to wake up and getting stronger." I just hope that she wakes soon.

Miroku faced the group. "Lady Kaede is right. There is nothing that we can do now but wait for her to wake up. When that happens then I am sure that Kagome will answer all the questions we have." He sat down and leaned back against the tree Inuyasha's had recently used as his perch.

"She had better have some really good explanations for the questions that I have for her?" Inuyasha jumped back into his tree. He didn't like the smell of his brother on Kagome.

Shippou cuddled back up to Kagome and went back to sleep. Adults worried over the strangest things.

Sango helped Kaede get Kagome settled before she laid down close by so if Kaede needed her during the night she wouldn't have to go far to get her. It also kept the monk from getting hit in the head when his hands wandered during the night.

Kaede breathed a sigh of relief when everyone settled down to rest. Kagome child ye had better waken soon.
