Chapter 14, Part IV - The Honeymoon

After dinner was over, Kagome fully thought that Inuyasha would keep his word. She even went out of the way to escort him to the door. Just as she was about to open it, his hand slammed against the door to keep it shut. Puzzled, she looked at him to see what could possibly be wrong with him. She didn't like the look in his eyes. The hard glint was there in his amber orbs again, betraying his determination.

'Oh no, you don't!'

Battling the rising panic that threatened to consume her, Kagome quickly did evasive tactics. She was looking for another way out of her room when her gaze lit upon the adjoining door. She was making a run for it when her husband caught her at the waist and lifted her up against him. She began to fight him tooth and nail then.

Inuyasha had his hands full as Kagome turned into a hell-cat in his arms, struggling and fighting him every step of the way. He had to dodge her elbows and kicks as he maneouvered his way to the bed. Once there, he dumped his wild cargo before stretching his full, heavy frame atop her. He carefully caught her wrists in his hand so she couldn't scratch him.

"Damn it, stop that, wife! I just want to say something,"

"Liar!"

Kagome was deaf to his words as she changed tactics and was now trying to buck him away from her. Her movements only caused his erection to rise up more prominently against her. Kagome then went perfectly still, holding herself rigidly as though the fight has gone out of her.

"That's better. I only wish for you to listen to what I have to say,"

"Get off me then,"

"No. I know you, wife. You'll just start ranting and raving again once I let go of you,"

"Damn you!"

She was close to tears now, the strain of the day taking its' toll on her. But she'd be damned before she let him have his way with her again. Just as she was mustering her failing strength to fight him again, his next words stopped her cold.

"I'm sorry,"

Inuyasha simply said, staring down at the raven-haired beauty underneath him. He registered her shock thru the widening of her blue eyes, probably going as big and round as saucers at his words.

'She's not expecting an apology from me,'

Kagome couldn't believe her ears. Did she just hear him say he's sorry? Him, the proud, arrogant and unbending man she had the misfortune to marry? There had to be a catch. But she'll make him grovel first.

"I beg your pardon? I didn't quite hear what you were saying,"

Inuyasha gnashed his teeth together so he'd keep from shouting at his wife. The spitfire was going to make him say it again!

"I said I'm sorry, wife. There, is your hearing fine now? Because that's the last time I'm going to repeat it,"

Inuyasha ended that with a growl, not liking the spark he saw in Kagome's eyes now. She's also trying to stifle her smile, and he didn't like it one bit.

"Do you find this amusing?"

Kagome shook her head solemnly at her husband's threatening tone of voice, but she was lying. She was enjoying it immensely. She would've rubbed her hands together in anticipation if he didn't held them captive. She had to content herself with giving him a haughty look instead.

"For what?"

Her husband stared blankly at her, not sure as to what she meant. But realization dawned with a lightning crack and he had to grind his teeth again lest he gave in to his temper. The woman was actually going to ask him for a list!

'Oh, how the mighty has fallen,'

Kagome thought gleefully as she looked at her husband's appearance. He looked like he swallowed a vat of vinegar. She resisted the urge to smile like a Cheshire cat.

'You want to play don't you, wife? Fine. Two can play this game of yours,'

Inuyasha thought evilly, vowing to turn the tables on his 'darling' wife. When his gaze turned smoldering, she didn't feel like smiling anymore. The panic was back again as he slowly lowered head, his lips just a breath away from hers.

"I'm sorry for not introducing you properly earlier,"

Inuyasha whispered and kissed her cheek. She couldn't turn away if her life depended on it, his burning eyes mesmerizing her.

"I'm sorry that you got involved in this mess,"

He whispered against her throat now as he trailed kisses all over her neck.

"But you know what I'm not sorry about, wife?"

He suddenly pulled back, looking deep into her eyes. He was probably going to say he's not sorry he's tormenting her, but she didn't care now. All she cared for was how to shut him up so he could kiss her.

"I'm never going to be sorry that I married you, Kagome,"

Inuyasha fiercely declared as he sent his lips crashing down on hers, the kiss quickly turning hot and demanding. The moment Inuyasha let go of her wrists, she immediately buried her hands in his silver mane before locking them in place behind his neck.
