~*~12 Years later~*~
Kagome woke up in a cold sweat. The dream, it was so real. They always were, thats what made them night terrors. She hadnt had these dreams since she was a small child, but lately she had been having them every night. She had woke up screaming a couple of times scaring the hell out of everyone. She knew that they were just dreams but her heart was trully terrified. These nightmares were begining to have an effect on her day life as well. She was always so tired and slow. Inu yasha had to carry her a few times when she was to exhausted to walk. She even had to have Sango tag along everytime she took a bath for fear that she may fall asleep and drown. She had begun to carry a flashlight everywhere she went just as she did when she was a child. When she told her mother about the dreams she suggested that they were coming back because of stress. Kagome couldnt deney that her life was very stressfull, but somehow she didnt think that was the reason. She lay back down but the dream was still to fresh in her mind for her to go to sleep. In fact she found it hard for her to even close her eyes with out hearing some noise from the dark. She decided to sit up by the still glowing embers of the fire and wait for what seemed like eternaty for the sun to rise.
"Kagome?" a soft voice came from the shadows, if it wasnt for the fact that she had immediatly recognised it she would have just about died. Inu yasha walked into the faint light emitted from the embers and sat down beside Kagome. He had been very worried about her lately. Her skin was paler than usual and her normaly bright cheery spirits seemed to be lacking.
"Are you ok?" He asked sounding genuinly concerned. She nodded her head, and forced a non too reasuring smile.
"Are you sure?" he asked a little hurt that she couldnt confide in him as her friend.
" It was just a bad dream thats all. I just cant sleep." She said as a yawn escaped her lips. She didnt want to go back to sleep but that didnt stop sleep from trying to claim her none the less. Inu yasha sighed, he believed that what she was saying was the truth but there seemed to be more to it than that.
" You seem to be having these 'dreams' all the time now. Tell me are they the same?" he asked.
" Yes" she answerd while looking down at her feet. The images of her night terror flashed through her head.
"Would you like to talk about it? It helps to get it out in the open sometimes" He said as he starred at her with his golden eyes.
" Its always the same, Im running from something I cant see, trying to get to the light that keeps getting farther and farther away. I dont think that they like the light. I try and try but in the end they always catch me. For gods sake Im almost eighteen and I walk into a dark room and its like Im five again" Kagome answerd. Inu yasha was worried he could tell that she was trully scared.
"Kagome tell me, what happens when they catch you?" he asked.
"..........they eat me" she said hesitently.
"Who does?" he asked now very confused.
" They do, I dont know how to describe them, you wouldnt either if you saw them. They are like shadows only solid. They are silent except when they are stalking you, they make these clicking sounds. They come from all around me like they use the shadows to get from their world to ours. There are thousands of them, maybe millions, you cant really tell, they blend into the dark. The only reason you now they are there at all is the clicking and the growling. You cant tell them apart from the shadows until their practicly on you." Kagome finished. Inu yasha found her discription to be very disturbing.
"Its just a dream there is nothing to be frightend of" He said softly trying to compfort her.
"Inu yasha it feels so real though!" She said in a desprite panick.Inu yasha brought his hand up to cover her mouth.
"Nothing is going to happen to you, not as long as I draw breath. I promised to protect you remember? You trust me right?" He asked in a caring sincer tone.
Kagome was a little taken back by his affection but nodded to assure him of her trust.
"Good" he whisperd and loward his hand. They sat together and watched as the last of the embers deid. Kagome would have been frightend if it hadnt been for Inu yasha wrapping his arm around her to asure her that it was ok. They sat together in the darkness, waiting for the sun to rise. And when it did they watched it together.
