Sesshomaru/Kagome

Kagome awoke slowly. She was being held and an woman's face was looking down at her. Slowly she recognized the face and realized Sesshomaru's arms were holding her.

"Kikyo?!" Kagome exclaimed just before she tried to bolt. Sesshomaru tightened his embrace.

"Take it easy, little Miko." He said and was clearly relieved when Kagome relaxed. Kikyo grinned wryly.

"Sorry about trying to kill you." Kikyo said. Kagome was wary but she wasn't going to bolt.

"What happened?" Kagome asked. It was Rin who answered.

"Sesshomaru-sama was healing your arm when you suddenly collapsed." Rin said.

"SESSHOMARU! What did you DO?!" Inuyasha -who'd finally tracked them down- demanded. Kagome's head lifted.

"Inuyasha. SIT!" Kagome commanded. Inuyasha fell on his face and Rin laughed. Kagome smiled.

"I sense a blockade in your mind, sister. It blocks a memory." Kikyo said.

"Can you undo it?" Sesshomaru asked as he released Kagome. Kikyo shook her head. Kagome leaned back against Sesshomaru. She closed her eyes. One of her hands brushed Sesshomaru's hands. 

Sesshomaru's P.o.V.

I cradle Kagome against my chest and look at my half-brother. The little Miko was asleep.

This feels so familiar... I've held her like this before. I thought. The little Miko shifted and twisted so her face was against my chest. For a brief moment I saw in her place a little girl. I remembered.

I walk down a crowded street. A little girl ran by me her arm brushing my hand. I stop and watch the little girl. She called to her friends. A few minutes after she left my sight I heard her scream in terror. I race to the child's side. A demon had her by the throat. My claws flashed and the demon fell. The child was screaming. I bent down and picked her up. She clung to me, her face against my chest. Slowly she relaxed and went to sleep. I carry her home after getting directions from someone who knew the little girl's mother. Her mother took her from me and I watch as she carried the girl inside. I walk away.

I stare down at Kagome. I knew then she didn't remember. Inuyasha glared at her. The little Miko woke.

"You're still here...," She whispered. "Now I know I'm safe." She went back to sleep. I pull her closer.

"I will always be here, Kagome." I vowed.

End Sesshomaru's P.o.V.

Kagome woke cradled in Sesshomaru's arms. One look told her he was asleep. She smiled but it was sad. She knew something about her was hurting him.

"I'll find out what's hurting you and I'll make it right." She vowed gazing at his face. She gently pressed a kiss to his lips.
