'Thinking'
Humming as she walked down the street with two good looking demons behind her she tried to think that it was normal. Sighing in her head she soon realized that it wasn’t normal with the amount of looks she was getting. It just made her walk faster really. “Hey! Why are you walking so fast!” Kouga yelled out. Not that it was a bother to him but really it seemed like she didn’t want them to be there. “If you want us to leave just say so geez”. Kagome slowed and turn to her right to look at the wolf youkai with a sad expression. “I’m sorry Kouga. I just don’t like the way people are looking at us.” Kouga could understand. In this time and for the hundreds of year before now humans and demons never ‘hung out’ unless it was because of money, political reasons or family ties. The thing that worried him the most was the direction they were headed in.
“Sorry but this is it… home” Shippou looked around the lonely street. The neighborhood wasn’t too bad and the building didn’t look… well that badly. Sighing and trying not to think about that phrase ‘looks can be deceiving’ he walked with Kagome and Kouga past the rusted gate. He almost died when he saw that the ‘gate’ looked like it could have been from the 1800’s easily and barely holding on as it is. As they got to the door she pulled out her keys. She didn’t have but 3 keys. He guessed one is for the building door then her door and next… maybe the mail box. That is if there was one near here.
'How could this get any worse?' Really she was mortified that these people where here in this part of town at this particular building. 'No demons would ever live here. Heck! Most humans wouldn’t either but she had to' Sighing quite loudly she motioned for them to come in the door. “Sorry but the elevator doesn’t work.” She smiled nervously and turned to walk up the stairs. “What floor do we have to go up to?” If anyone could see her face when Shippou ask they might have thought she was nuts “hehehe….well I live on the top floor. Which is the 7
th floor” and she walked faster up the stairs. “7
th? Why?” Shippou almost yelled. “Well you see I have the whole floor to myself because nobody wanted to clean it up. It’s really turned in to a nice space once I fixed it and its quiet. ” “Oh…” that was all he could say. He understood wanting quiet time. Everyone probably did but she seemed that she didn’t have anything but quiet time. 'Maybe she is one of those humans that doesn’t like a lot of people around'
It was not a big deal to walk all the floors but they were so happy to finally be at the door. That is if you could call it a door. It was a HUGE metal sliding door. 'What was she expecting? A zombie invasion?' Although Kouga couldn’t wait to see inside he was a little scared. With the ‘worn-down’ state of the building it was a wonder it was still standing. “That is a huge door Kagome. Are you building a fort for an invasion?” Kouga joked with her. “No I just want to be safe. Have you seen the place I live in” His smile faded as he knew she was even aware of the dangers of the neighborhood. So she wasn’t just a stupid human. She pulled out her keys again and went for the biggest one. As she turned the lock they could hear all kinds of metal unlatching. Once it was done she easily opened the door to the left and motioned them in.
Shippou and Kouga couldn’t believe she lived in such a place. It was so pretty with beige colored walls, white borders and all hard wood floors. Off to the left are 2 white french style doors with mirrors on them. In front of them is the living room with 2 really nice plush light gray sofas, a coffee table in the middle and a big black chair that looked just as comfy as the sofa’s. The TV Kouga and Shippou found after turning around is hooked in to the wall about 10ft away from were the door is at. They were excited to see a video game console on a shelf under the TV. Behind the living room is the kitchen and not a bad size kitchen either with stainless steel appliances. Between the kitchen and what they believed was her bedroom was a set of steps leading to the roof with a half closed in patio. To their right are 3 other doors and a washer/dryer combo. “If you need to use the restroom is the far right door. The middle door is a guest room and the left door is my study” Both men looked at each other with shock on their faces. “Is something wrong with you both?” She was concerned about how they looked at the moment. They looked happy but at the same time confused. “no, no… its just… well this place is freakin’ NIIIICE!!!” Kouga said with a lot of enthusiasm. “haha! Oh okay good I thought something was wrong. Do you want something to drink? I have Juice, water, tea and that is all. I don’t drink soda and I don’t drink alcohol.” It was Shippou that had an odd feeling about the house but none the less it was a nice place “If we could have some hot tea that would be nice and you have a really nice place Kagome.” She blushed and turned to get what they asked for “Please sit and make yourselves comf….” She didn’t have to even finish her sentence when she heard the PS3 start up and one of her shooting games to start.
“The tea is ready” Both men or maybe the correct term for them right now are boys with the way they are acting in the game came rushing over. “why did you have to spam grenade me you little punk fox” Shippou let out what sounded to Kagome as a bark but a laugh also if that was possible. “because you always stay in the same spot!” After they were seated they made small talk and enjoyed their snack. Kouga was especially enjoying the food. Shippou smiled at his friend and turned to Kagome “So Kagome are your parents out of town?” Kagome got a far off look in her eyes. “Well you see my step mom I didn’t get along with well because she wasn’t very nice to me except when my dad was around. My dad married her when I was 6 just 2 years after my mom died. They had my bother Souta together and then my dad died when I was 10. So my step mom sort of kicked me out” Kouga was shocked. He thought that youkai parents were hard but it seems that human parents could just be as hard. “Kagome, If you don’t mind me asking… how did you survive all this time?” “I lived at my school secretly for a year and on the streets for a year as well. Then one day this lady found my book that I write in. She said she would give me money if I wrote for her. So I accepted right away of course because, well I had nothing to lose. For 2 years I lived in a room with 3 other girls saving my money then I found this place I would hire people saying I was the daughter and my parents are just out. Nobody seemed to mind it for the year it took to remodel it. ” 'How could a kid do all of this and for that matter a human child to get this far' Kouga could tell Kagome was a very smart human child and he smiled at her making her blush. Then something dawned on him “WAIT!!! THAT MEANS YOU ARE 15 YEARS OLD?!!!” “Yes I am. Is there a problem?” “Uhhh, Nope no problem.” Shippou on the other hand already knew she was smart and also he knew what it was like living with no parents. His parents had died hundreds of years ago in a youkai battle helping the western lord defend his lands. Shippou also smiled a knowing smile to Kagome and looked at the clock on the wall. “oh its already 10:47 we should let you go to sleep.” Kagome looked at the clock as well. 'Wow is late and here I thought it was barely 9:00pm' “Yes I do have school tomorrow and a very important test”
“Have a good night little princess” Kouga told her making her blush again. He thought it was the cutest thing in the world to see her blush. “Kagome if you don’t mind do you have an email or phone? I would like to keep in contact with you” Shippou really didn’t want to leave her alone. He knew it got lonely sometimes with nobody around and that feeling of wanting someone. “Oh sure I have an email but no phone yet. Its kind of a silly email name… Its Shikonmiko@wire.org “ “How do you know about the Shikon” Kouga came closer to her looking like she grew a third head. “Well my dad and grandpa would tell me stories of it” Shippou smiled at her “Oh I see well its not common for a human to know about those stories” “That is because my grandfather was a priest and he was passing his stories and things to me” Nodding Shippou and Kouga said their good byes and left.
“Hey Shippou its not common for humans to know stories about the Shikon. I wonder what type of priest her grandfather was” “Yea I know what you mean but for now let’s just leave it be. If we ask nicely maybe we can hear a few stories” Kouga nodding and both took off for the night with their youkai speed.
~note: I can’t believe that this is 2.5 pages long. I want to write more but at the same time I like to keep it simple. How do you like Kagome living by herself at 15? Also because this is my first fan writing tell me how I am doing but nicely please :]
