Chapter 1- Meeting Bankotsu

‘ Almost there … ‘ The youngest member of the Band of Seven licked his lips in delight. If he managed to catch this monstrous Boar they‘d have enough meat to last a week. The only problem was this particular boar was very fast and cunning. It was smart enough to easily trick and out run its predators, and use its strength and wit to take down its prey.

‘ All the more fun when I get the little fucker ‘ Bankotsu mused. He knew he could easily strike the boar down with his Banryuu, but loved the thrill of a chase.

‘ Just a little further … ‘ He silently coached himself while preparing to lunge on his recent victim.The Boar instantly stilled at the sound of his steel toed boots crushing a leaf. Bankotsu held a breath as it lifted its head to sniff the air around it. He wasn’t a bit worried about it catching his scent since he was wearing the masking fragrance Suikotsu made him.

‘ Sniff all you want you damn overgrown Pig! I’m eating you tonight! ‘ A small smirk formed on his lips, but quickly vanished as the unthinkable happened….

“ Dear Brother of Mine!!!! “ A rather annoying yet familiar voice echoed throughout the forest.

‘ Damn it Jakotsu! ‘ Bankostu thought while the boar hauled ass in the opposite direction. He inwardly sighed as it vanished from sight and Jakotsu appeared dressed in a brand new sky blue Yukata with silvery-azure eye shadow.

“ There you are, Brother! I’ve been looking all over for you! “ He dramatically exclaimed with tears in the corner of his eyes. He threw himself at the young leader causing him to loose his balance and fall.

“ Jakotsu …” He angrily growled in warning.

“ Awww Don’t be mad, Banky! “ Jakotsu Whined while clenching him tightly.

“ I thought you’d left to expand our territory on your own again! “ He pouted as he affectionately rubbed his head back and forth against the leader’s back. “ I got mad when I thought about all the fun you’d have killing all those delicious stud muffins! “

Bankotsu sighed once again and pried Jakotsu’s arms from around his shoulders.

“ You fool “ He stated while standing. “ I was hunting and since you so carelessly allowed my prey to escape you’re responsible for getting our food for a week. “

“Whaaa- !!!“

The ever animated Jakotsu’s mouth dropped, closed, then opened to protest but was ignored as Bankotsu turned to walk away.

“ No fair! “ Jakotsu huffed while crossing his arms. “ You’re so cruel, Brother! “

“ Yeah, or so I‘ve been told, “ Bankotsu nonchalantly replied As the two walked back toward their village. “ You might want to get started on the hunting by the way. “ He advised. “ It’ll be dark soon and the guys will be hungry. “

Catching the hint, Jakotsu quietly stuck his tongue out at his brother’s back and was gone.

Bankotsu smirked at his fleeting aura.

‘ At least I got a reason not to hunt for a week ’

He continued to walk back in silence when a shrill feminine cry managed to catch his attention.

“ Somebody help Meeee!!!! “ Bankotsu stopped dead in his tracks. His body seemed to turn hot and cold all at once.

‘ That voice ‘ He thought in confusion. ‘ I’ve heard it before … but where? ‘

Allowing his curiosity to get the best of him, he quickly made his way over to the old wooden well by the river. Peering over the opening of the well, he caught sight of a head full of thick and lovely charcoal locks.

The woman sat on her knees crying her heart out, unknowing to the fact he was watching her.

‘ I want to see her face ‘ Bankotsu thought while trying to calm his raging heart.

Who was this strange woman?

 

“ My, My “ He said teasingly. “ What do we have here? “

The woman instantly stopped crying and lifted her head to reveal a set of large and teary brown eyes.

“ Bankotsu … “ She whispered in terror.

He felt his breath hitch deep within his throat.

She was Beautiful.
