To Live Again

Hey everyone! Time too update! Let me just reiterate that I am re-doing this story, trying to breathe life back into it. I’d like to thank all of you who have read my story and I’d like to thank my first reviewer, Luminari Lilium. I won’t do the short line thing, and I am glad you like it. I would like to thank Mertmidnightangel for kicking my toushie into gear. Hope you all enjoy and I’ll try to have more up soon.

Chapter 1: A Dream, A New Mission, and A Story

~Everything is burning. The mountain, the village, it even looks like the sky itself is on
fire. The fire is dancing and I hear soft footsteps come up and stop. I turn and see a
small cloaked figure beside me. The person is shorter then Hiei but graceful in stature.
I think it is a woman. I tell them to run, to get to safety. She looks up and I gasp. The hood
falls and I see that she is indeed a woman and she has the most beautiful piercing
cobalt blue eyes I have ever seen.(A/N Think of Kate Beckansales eyes from underworld)
I tell her to run. Her voice drifts over me and I hear a soft melodic voice that is lilting and sweet.
" It’s too late. He is here, he is searching. The fight has just begun and it will be bloody.
Find me before its too late.......Beep Beep Beep....Hurry......Wake up.......Beep Beep.....NOW!"~

Kurama's POV

I shot up in bed, the beeping had stopped and I hear someone, Hiei, I think, talking to someone
close by. I then hear Botan. It was the communicator that was beeping.
$ Fox, get up. Koenma has a mission for us. $
&Ok, thanks Hiei. We'll be out in a minute.&
$ Hn$
Hiei shut the mental link to give me privacy, and I felt Youko stir.
*Hey Red, that was some dream wasn't it?*
& It was odd alright. I wonder if she is real.....&
* Damn I hope she was. That would be some fine piece of a-*
& Youko don't you dare say it! She seemed distressed. I guess we can always ask Koenma
about her later after he tells us about what he needs. I have a feeling it’s another mission.
It might be a big one. &
* Fine I’ll behave, for the moment. Go see what the thumb sucker wants.*
& Be nice.&
* Feh*
I felt Youko go back to sleep, or what I presume as sleep, he could be thinking or plotting or
being innocent, which scares me the most out of all of those. That usually means he is up
to something and that something could get me/us in trouble...again. Botan arrived to give
us a lift to the spirit realm. As we entered I noticed that there was another presence along
with Yusuke's, Kuwabara's and Koenma's. One that I think Youko knows, or maybe not. I
looked at Hiei to get his take on the presence but he looked lost in thought. We walked in
and the person in the shadows stepped out.

Normal POV

" Everyone," Koenma Started." this is Lord Sesshomaru of the Western Lands, Now overlord
of Makai(sp?)."
" What is he doing here?" asked Kuwabara.
" I am here," Sesshomaru says in a chilling voice." because your mission has to do with what I tell you."
"Oh, sorry." He squeaked.
" Your mission," Koenma says. “has to do with a jewel that resides in a person, and one of the deadliest demons known to mankind. The last time he was defeated, three of his challengers were left alive. The other four and an innocent child were killed. We thought this demon was gone for good but we are guessing that he found a way to cheat death, again."Koenma presses a button and a screen lowers and two pictures appeared. "This is the Shikon No Tama, the jewel of four souls. And the young woman next to it is its current guardian, Kagome Higurashi."
As these pictures were being displayed Kurama's mouth had dropped.
& Youko! The girl is real...she is alive and is the guardian of some jewel. &
* You idiot! That isn't just some jewel, it is THE jewel. It can increase a demons power tenfold. And if she is its guardian then that means that she is a Miko. Damn she is probably going to purify us on sight.*
& You don't know that.&
$ SO I guess you both have dreamt of her as well.$
&*you too?&*
$Hn, pay attention.$
" Kagome Higurashi is a Miko," Koenma started to explain, but was cut off by the demon lord.
" I should explain this Koenma, it would go quicker and I need to get back soon." Sesshomaru states.

Sesshomaru’s POV

I look around the room to judge these....detectives. I don't know how well the idiot will survive this mission. The half-breed might make it, but the avatar and the forbidden one will do well. They might even help her.
" Kagome is not an ordinary Miko. She is a pure soul and one that loves easily. I first met her through my half-breed half-brother. (Insert story of how Sess tried to get the tetsigua(sp?)) She traveled back and forth through time in order to collect the shards that she accidentally broke. She traveled with my half-brother, a monk, a demon slayer, a fire Neko, and a fox kit that she took as her son. They had been travelling and collecting for four years, they had collected 1/4 of the jewel and their nemesis, Naraku had the rest. I joined the hunt the last year as a tribute to the Miko for saving my ward. The day before the final battle Kagome decided to formally adopt the fox kit. I helped perform the demon ceremony and they finally were a family. The day of the battle Kagome hid her kit and my ward a distance in the forest where we can easily get to them if we need to retreat but far enough where we knew/hoped they would be safe. Naraku arrived with his demon hoards and new incarnates. But before we could attack, he killed two of his own, Kagura and Kanna because they had been passing information to us. He also killed the demon slayers brother to emotionally cripple at least one of our numbers. It didn't work as well as he thought. The battle lasted most of the day. By noon all his demons and incarnates were dead. It was down to him and us. Before we could begin the final assault, the dead Miko Kikyo ran out of the woods and into Inuyasha's arms babbling about all the horrible things Naraku did to her. Boy was my idiot brother lapping it up. Kagome saw the look on Naraku’s face and the smirk on Kikyo's and tried to warn him, to warn us but it was too late, Kikyo slide a blade full of dark purification in between Inuyasha's shoulder blades, killing him instantly.
As we were distracted by the betrayal and murder of Inuyasha, Naraku slammed a tentacle into the monk and demon slayers bodies, giving them a semi quick but painful death. Kagome went into almost a state of shock at the worst possible time. It was down to myself and Kagome versus Kikyo and Naraku. I didn't know how much longer she would last. Then Naraku did the stupidest thing in the world. He shot out a tentacle that we thought was just a miss, but it came back with a struggling Shippo in it grasp. Naraku snapped his neck right in front of Kagome as she dropped to her knees. Naraku and Kikyo started laughing and then Naraku started screaming. The jewel piece that he held was ripped from his body and flew towards Kagome. She caught it in her fist, that’s when we all noticed that she was surrounded by blue flames. She looked up and her eyes were glowing white. She let out this pain filled scream of a mother that lost her child. The jewel was purified and as she screamed out her loss she let loose this awesome amount of power that I had to step back from. It killed Naraku, Kikyo, and it purified the land. But it didn't bring back her friends or her son. We buried everyone near the remains of the well, which she could no longer use to go home. It was apparent that before Kikyo showed up at the battle she used the part of Kagome's
soul that she possessed and traveled to the future. She then proceeded to kill Kagome's family and then came back through and destroyed the well. But she left pieces/tokens of Kagomes’ family covered in their blood so she had no home to go back to if we won the battle. I took Kagome back to my palace but it took her months to get out of her depression, at least part way. It was my ward Rin that brought her to accept their deaths. Apparently Naraku was aiming for Rin when Shippo jumped in front of the tenticle, saving her. Knowing that Shippo died to protect another helped her out enough so I could train her in her new powers. And new powers did she have. The Gods, as a reward, made her half-god, at Midrioko's insistence. Not only to protect the Jewel but as a boon for defeating Naraku. She had the power to shift into any animal and because most animals could be demons she had the demon powers for that animal. I mostly found her in the shape of a fox or a white wolf seeing as how her wolf friend Kouga also died. But not in that battle. His land was taken from him by another demon tribe and he was killed protecting his pack. Kagome also had elemental powers which were displayed on her back in various tattoos of the element.
( A/N I got that from another story I read and even though I can't remember the name of the story or author I thank them for the idea.) I had her trained in every aspect of her powers until she was unbeatable. Then came the day I put her to sleep. I had awoken that morning to feel a large power surge that had a hint of her power signature.
I found her creating the very barriers that separate the realms. I could tell that she had not slept in weeks and that she was using a lot of magic. When she had finished her spell and was about to pass out I informed her that she was going to sleep until the day came that she was needed again. I took her to a mountain chamber that I had prepared. I put her into a deep sleep that can only be awoken if the thing she most wanted in the world was present. I laid her on the silk bed I had waiting then closed the sheer curtains. I concealed her and the chamber from sight and then placed
a spell on the mountain. Only those who were looking for her can find the mountain. But only the group that has what she most wants can get to her. She has been asleep these past 500 years undisturbed. I would go with you to retrieve her but she would purify me in an instant for forcing her to sleep. But she'll realize it was for the best. If you'll excuse me I have other business to attend to. You will inform me of when you have gotten her back here safely."

Normal POV

"Of course Lord Sesshomaru." Koenma said as Sesshomaru left.
" So," Yusuke started “What is this thing she wants most in the world?"
"Me." Came a voice from the shadows.
