Chapter Two: It Started Out With a Kiss
Do You Still Believe in Love? Chapter Two.
It Started Out With a Kiss Kagome stared at her reflection and cocked her head to the side. ‘It’s decided, my hair hates me’ she thought in frustration. She ran the straightener over her bangs again. ‘I guess that’s gotta be good enough.’ She appraised herself once more; skinny jeans, band tee, black ballet flats, simple but cute make up and straight hair… ‘okay, casual yet cute. It shouldn’t be too obvious that I put thought into this’. She hated how much she cared. She’d just met Bankotsu the day before and already, she cared. Oh, she cared a lot. She loathed that he’d met her in sweats and a stained tee. How fair was that?! He probably thought she was so bum. She glanced at the clock to check how much time she had left. ‘shit… I was supposed to be there in… ugh, five minutes ago.’ She grabbed her keys and purse and headed for the door. Even though they never did much other that play games and music, Inuyasha always said something about her being later than she said she’d be. After the short drive, she arrived at his house and let herself in. “Took ya long enough, huh Kags?” Inuyasha laughed. “Oh, hush. I got here didn’t I?” She scowled as he ruffled her hair. “Yeah, sure kiddo, okay… You remember that the guys and I are playing at Club Zero tonight, right?” “Yeah, of course. Don’t you forget that I invited Sango, and Miroku HAS to be nice. It’s not her fault he fucked up AGAIN, so if he wants another chance, he’s gotta be on his toes.” “Girls, you’re all nothing but trouble…” Inuyasha huffed as he moved to start taking apart his drum kit. “Guessing you and Kikyou had it out again?” Bankotsu walked out from the guest room just in time to steal the answer from Inuyasha, “Yeah, crazy bitch came stomping in here with her sister this morning, raising hell.” Kagome stared at Bankotsu for just a moment, just until she remembered how to breathe. He was standing in the hallway, shirtless, in baggy, torn up jeans. Inuyasha broke her train of thought by speaking up, “Yeah man, sorry you had to see that shit… anyways, sucks you can’t play with us tonight. I know you’re much better than Kouga on bass, but we can’t just replace him like that man.” “Nahh, it’s cool dude. I’m just stoked to see your band.” Kagome stared at the disassembled drum kit and sighed. “I’m guess I’m packing that in my accord?” “Why, of course? I still don’t have a car sitting out there, do I?” Inuyasha had lost his car because he couldn’t make the payments, so Kagome had been his bands equipment wench. She helped transport his drums, she watched their equipment when they weren’t on stage, she helped set everything up and packed it all up. It wasn’t exceedingly exciting, but she loved her friends and wanted to help. The three of them chatted and laughed for a while until it was time to get packed up. By some miracle, they managed to get the full drum kit in her car with enough room to transport all three of them. Inuyasha’s band, Defected Perfection, was playing last, so the band members all mingled with the fans that had shown up. Kagome started to feel dizzy, and since it would be sometime until Inuyasha played, she excused herself to sit outside in her car. Much to her surprise, Bankotsu followed. He said he didn’t want her to be alone outside at night, it wasn’t safe. So the two of them sat in the back seat of her little Honda, and even though it was Kagome who’d been feeling sick, Bankotsu laid down, his feet hanging out the door and his head in her lap. She absent mindedly rubbed his back and they chatted about nonsense. He sat up and cradled her face in his hand, rubbing the pad of his thumb across her cheek. “Are you feeling any better?” “Not really, but I think Inuyasha’s going to play soon, so I guess we should go inside…” Bankotsu leaned forward and rested his forehead against hers, “I’d say we should just stay out here, that he’d get over it, but he used to come to my band’s shit, so I can’t just do that.” As Kagome locked her car before they headed inside, all she could think was about how much she’d wished he would have kissed her. It was more crowded inside than she’d remembered. Bankotsu took a seat on an amp and pulled Kagome down on to his lap. He leaned against her, putting his lips near her ear so she could hear him as Defected Perfection began their set, “You’re tired, you shouldn’t have to stand. Just lean back, you don’t weight anything, you’re fine” Kagome’s heart raced through the entire seven song set. She looked around and caught Sango staring at her and smiling. She decided she really would give anything to have the boy who was holding her. She’d do anything to just be his. He seemed so perfect. When the set ended, Bankotsu took Kagome’s place helping get the equipment packed up. All the boys in the band: Inuyasha, Kouga, Miroku, Shippou, and Sesshomaru, and Sango gathered around her Honda. Kagome was sitting in Bankotsu’s lap in the passenger seat. Her backseat was filled to capacity with Inuyasha’s drum equipment. “How the fuck did the three of us get here with that damn kit in your car?” Inuyasha bitched. “It’s not like it got any bigger during the show…” “Don’t worry about it, I’ll drop you off” Sango offered, “It’s not a big deal, you only live about five minutes away. And we can all chill for a while. It’ll be great.” With a plan decided, Kagome slowly untangled herself from Bankotsu’s arms, which had made their way around her waist, and got in the driver’s seat to take them back home. They arrived first and took the drum kit inside. As Bankotsu brought the last stand inside, he closed the front door. Kagome watched him as he set the stand with the rest of the stuff, “Sorry I wasn’t much help, I don’t know why I’m feeling so weird” He shrugged, and she continued, staring worryingly at the door, “I wonder what’s taking them so long?” Bankotsu didn’t answer, instead, he quickly crossed the room. He picked up Kagome and kissed her. Her arms found their way around his neck as she held herself to him. This had to be the start of a fairytale. Everything felt so right… there’s no way it could have been wrong….
