Chapter 2
Harajuku, Japan, 6am
The morning sun shone bright through the neighborhood apartments, of Takeshita in Harajuku. The spring breeze seeped inside the florescent room of a seventeen year old girl by the name of Naru Morisato. She'd been sleeping soundly under her pink fluffy comforter, snug and serene. That is until her cozy dreams were abruptly disrupted by a shrill alarm, awaking her as she slid her arm out from under the blanket turning off her Hello Kitty clock.
Dragging her arm back in, her yawn muffled by the blanket, she looked at the time. Seven blinked in red digital numbers reminding her she had to get up for school. She sighed in relief shutting her eyes momentarily floating back to her dreams of a handsome dark prince flooding her with all types of trinkets. Her mother Suri eventually busted her bubble knocking loud enough to wake the dead, saying in a stern but motherly tone.
"Your breakfast is going to get cold young lady.” She waited another minute. “Get up now Naru, or I'll wake you myself and it won't be pretty." She listened closely for any sounds of movement.
Naru whimpered. Truly not a morning person especially on Monday’s, her mother sighed turning the doorknob. She entered walking straight into her bedroom pulling curtains back and bringing forth the bright shining sunlight with her. It directly beamed some of that sunlight right on her face. She quickly retreated under her large pink and blue blanket.
Suri shook her head in disapproval, walking away she said over her shoulder. "You’re not going to be late today.” Before she shut the door, she added an afterthought. “I don't want to ground you Missy."
Naru huffed in annoyance, yawning a third time she emerged from out of the blanket. Rolling over onto her back, she scratched her belly from under her pink hello kitty tee. Half awake she thought back a couple of summers ago when she had pierced her belly button, now with belly ring as a way of decorating, since she was the one working-out endlessly to get this kind of result on her tummy. Why not show off.
Now when it came to body size she grew to have plenty to give, not looking quite like her sister or mother. Same heart shaped face, but her sister had a thing for dying her hair different colors to stand out it was originally black now she's a brunette. Naru's skin color was just like her father's a sun kissed tan a medium shade color.
Since she used to be chubby growing up losing the weight in her stomach by working out endlessly toning her thighs some what but in the end when it came to her hips were a different story doing everything possible from running miles upon miles to bike riding every day after school until she came home exhausted not even taking dinner only her diet drink and vegetables nothing more the results were always the same.
Suri would tell her as a small child that her grandmother from her father's side had been a big and rounded woman growing up she had inherited her grandmother's looks in body mass plump thighs and a rounded backside were attention getting even when she didn't know it every guy in her school would turn the other cheek just to get a glance.
Sitting up while climbing out of bed to shower and dress for school. Being a senior had it's perks, Naru knew before the summer starts she'd be graduating and off to an out of state college by fall meaning no more no good curfews or motherly advice, and also her birthday was next month, thinking to herself, showering as the hot steam surrounded her she washed in slow movements over her stomach moving back up to her neck.
In the whole seventeen years of her life she's never had a boyfriend or sex for that matter all her other friends even Gigi would tell her detailed stories of when they did “it”. She washed herself in peace and quiet. Exiting in a fluffy white towel, dressing in her uniform a blue blouse and matching mid thigh skirt with knee high white stockings and her black dress shoes. Checking her appearance in the floor length mirror behind her bedroom door she began sweeping her long hair over the front of her shoulder combing it quickly.
Placing her comb on the oval and white vanity table she gathered up her school books for the day stuffing them in her pink backpack, rushing out her door running downstairs her nose was greeted with the enticing smell of her mother's good cooking eggs, pancakes, yum moving away to college will be tough, this she will surely miss.
Taking a seat in the square table in the middle of the hard wood kitchen across from her mother's back facing her, in simple business attire a black dress skirt ending at her knees a white dress shirt tucked inside a neat bun secured at the nape of her neck holding the same midnight hair as her daughter's finishing it with a pair of black pumps.
"Smells like heaven, I'll be having seconds if you don't mind."
"It smells good because I made it sweetie. I'm not done yet cooking pancakes takes time if you want it just right..."
"I'm wasting away. Can't go on, my stomach, oh the horrible pain."
"You'll live. Fix yourself a plate there's bacon and eggs in the microwave and orange juice in the fridge. You only have twenty minutes; I'll drive you on my way to work so you won't be late." Without so much as turning her back from the oven, she went about making herself a cup of coffee.
"Yes sir!" Standing she gave a salute to her commander giggling to herself she broke in a fit a laughter seeing her mother's dazzling smile. Naru shook her sighing quietly to herself thinking of her late husband's smiling face she looked so much like her father it was astounding. Leaving that sad memory behind she reached in the over head cabinet for her favorite coffee mug Suri bought her last years mother's day she couldn't come home and see her busy on an European tour she did send pictures of her in different countries looking so happy, she couldn't muster up the strength to get mad at heroldest daughter's free spirit. Snatching her some strips of bacon two eggs taking the orange juice from the fridge she took a seat and dug in to her food wanting to cry her mother's eggs were the best.
"Have any plans for your birthday dear?" Taking a seat across from her daughter she began to eat slowly while eying her. She paused. Stuffing her food into her mouth she thought of an answer.
"Well, me and Gigi we're going to hang out at the shop,” Gigi Akimichi and Naru have been best friends with each other ever since the 2nd grade and they've been basically inseparable able. “Then will probably go see a movie afterwards nothing really special.” Gigi was the kind of girl who wasn't afraid to try something new, losing her virginity at fifteen to a guy from out of state. She never kept her mouth shut whenever she needed to speak her mind. She was her Yang to her Ying, being there whenever she needed her Gigi became her back bone from then on.
She was laughing on the inside this close to correcting her grammar but since she was to be eighteen next month she didn't want to pursue the impulse.
"That sounds wonderful sweetie. When you get back from hanging out I'll give you your gift."
She bit her lip in childish delight squirming around in her seat. "Can I know what it is please mama prewwty please?"
"Nope nice try though you won't see until your birthday now finish up you have ten minutes."
"Yes mom...”
Driving to her school Naru grabbed her bag stepping out of her mother's car closing the door behind her. Yamachi High, stood tall a beige and brown building with numerous windows on all floors, with an oval driveway for parents to drop off and pick up was centered in front of the school. There was a parking lot located to the right side were for teacher personal and sometimes seniors would park their cars there and hang out before the bell rung. Standing with her back turned she searched for her shadow and partner in crime until hearing her mother she sighed knowing just what she was going to ask.
"Sweetie, do you want me pick you up after cheer leading practice I can do it but you might have to wait awhile until my break."
"No, that's okay mom you don't have to really I'm fine." She frowned shifting her backpack to the other shoulder.
"Nonsense, I can come and take you home before my lunch break is over and pick you up it's not a problem honey-bun." She asked through the passenger side window. She smiled sweetly hearing her mother's over protective attitude in her soft voice.
"No thanks. I'm walking home with Gigi today we're going get some ice cream at Peiwei then head home from there." Pushing her hair behind her ear with one hand while hugging her pink book bag firmly on her back, glancing nervously around for anyone she knew.
"Oh. Just be home before I do young lady or else am I understood." She visibly grimaced at her mother she did this for a reason knowing her child all too well. Never listening to a word her mother said if it involved anything with come straight home or the just the word no.
"Hey Naru! Over here!"
A slim girl with brunette hair shouted four inches taller then her with a slim curvy figure walked the short distance to her best friend. She smiled showing a row of pearly white teeth reaching the school entrance while chatting away they heard the bell ring. It was, Math first period, Science second, Tech third, and History fourth. Now it was blessed Lunch and Naru couldn't wait to eat. No matter how much she weighted food would always be her number one fetish. Gigi met her at her locker and they walked together to the school's cafeteria. It looked like a long ass line so they stood and chatted, while moving up the line. Everyone came to a halt when someone, obnoxious cut in, someone by name of Naruto, the senior class clown still held his title.
He stood in front of the lunch lady with an angry expression. “What tha- Where the ramen at?”
“It's meat loaf today. For some strange reason the school's funding for ramen has suddenly run low. For three years kicking.”
“Hey! That's bull. And what is this shit?” He makes a big scene, arm gestures and all while his friends Sasuke and Sakura watch on in utter humiliation.
A taller boy with short brown hair stepped up behind him and smacked the back of his head. “You buster. Hurry up or move out the way because I’m hungry, fools.”
“Fuck you, Kiba. You faking' wigga.”
“Yo! You wanna start something homey?”
“Bring it on bitch!” They faced each other, chest to chest trying for domination over who eats first.
Sasuke came between them looking frustrated he had to actually move. “Naruto cut the shit.”
“Yeah, you act like such a dumb-ass.” They pink haired girl said. Naru watched on in dismay wondering why some people had the I.Q. of an ant.
It was time for P.E. with her gym teacher Sensei Guy and his replica of an assistant Rock Lee. He is supposed to be an intern for the seniors until graduation so she could deal with him for now. But Damn! Did that guy have some big ass eyebrows? And the look they gave each other sometimes had been down right disturbing. Every one of her classmates she only saw when they all left to go to their next class. So let's go down the list of least favorite people she so happened to associate with on a daily basis. The first boy, Deidara Iwa, was the number one class clown of them all. He came in first to Naruto by a landslide. The only class she had with Deidara was art last period and he was a terror there also. He was cute yes only because of his piercing. He had three on each ear a tongue ring and dressed like a punker with his blond hair hanging loose had an affect on some of the other girls.
It's surprising for the simple fact those other girls were cheer leading scum. I hate cheerleaders! His personality lacked in her opinion though. He'd been hanging out with the same group of people since freshman year. To his right was Kiba Inuzuka, a white boy turned gangster by night always fresh to death when representing himself as a poser. With baggy blue jeans so low that it looked hard for him to walk up the stairs at times.
A gold piercing in his right ear with an actual gold tooth to match made him popular for some odd unknown reason. Now to his left, was one good looking S.O.B. If only he would at least smile once in a while. Itachi Uchiha was every fan girl's wet dream. Even Gigi went crazy in love when he'd come around. He won't talk much or blink for that matter but all of a sudden he became too cool for school. His clothes consisted of a pair of regular Levi jeans, a plain white tee, and some new pair of Michael Jordan sneakers I've never knew existed.
“Hey, look G. It's your crush.” Naru smiled, elbowing her at the same time.
Gigi blushed and looked away when she caught eye contact with him, “I so don't have a crush on him. And that's not funny.”
“Sure. I bet he doesn't have a date yet.”
“Like that would ever happen. He's a God among men.” She sighed putting her chin in her palm, “Of course he has a date, and every girl in school wants him.” They sat in the bleachers two rows away from Kabuto, This boy needed an extreme makeover and fast because the Steve Urkel look died when Family Matters got canceled. He had spenders, I repeat, spenders, his pants and tee shirt looked like they've shrunk in the wash too many times to count. Those big bifocals he calls glasses sat atop of his nose, slipping further down as we speak. Doing his homework probably, all his books lay around him like some tribal sacrifice.
“Hiya, Naru. Could I talk to you for a minute?”
“Sure.”
“Um, don't get mad at me or smack me but Bankotsu told me to tell you that you look really hot today.”
“Oh. Well tell him he can go to hell.”
“Gotcha. Hey, why the hell is Deidara still shaking that can of Pepsi. He's been doing it since first period.”
“Who?”
“Deidara. That goof hasn't opened it yet. I'm a go check it out, see you lovely ladies later.”
“He's a ham but a cutie.”
“I heard he's into dudes.”
“Shut up. Not Naruto.”
“Yes. Sakura told me, but don't let it leak out okay. He doesn't know anyone else knows.”
“Wow, what a shocker. Who would of...When did Gaara get here?”
“Huh. I don't know, I didn't notice him walk in.”
“Me either. I swear that boy is creepy.”
“I don’t mind because he has a hot body the prettiest green eyes for a red head.”
“Okay, I'll give you that but,” Naru focused on what the title of his book was and shook her head solemnly, “Geezus.”
“What?”
“Do you know what that book says?” Gigi shook her head anxious to find out, “It says “Don't Jump”.”
“Are you serious?”
“Uh huh. Someone’s got issues.”
“He's still cute to me.” Naru rolled her eyes and loud laughter a couple of rows in front got her attention.
“Gigi look. The goon squads up to something.” Deidara kept shaking that can of soda, while his poor retarded little brother Tobi jumped up and down in excitement. Itachi looked about the same as he did twenty minutes ago while Kiba made a big roaring laugh with Bankotsu. She watched Deidara stand and step over a few rows of chairs to Kabuto, he sat next him almost scaring him to death. He was telling him something and Naru couldn't make out what he was saying.
“We're friends, hm?”
“Uhhhh. I guess.”
“Well I got you this soda as a present for being the best friend a dude could ask for. I want you to drink it in our honor.”
“Oookay. But I'm allergic to sugar and I can't...”
“Aww. Come on, man. It's not going to hurt to have a little sip, hm?”
“Alright, buddy ol' pal, I'll do it for friendship.” Deidara held his facial expression; he wanted to laugh so badly.
“Great. Let's walk over here,” He lead Kabuto to stand in the middle of the gymnasium, facing everyone in the bleachers, “Don't worry, I'll take it from you if your allergies start wigging out.” Kabuto proceeded to open the can and the force of the fizzy drink sent his glasses flying high into the air to fall broken on the hard wood floor. The can didn't stop spraying him for a good ten seconds. That's when it ended and Kabuto was soaked in Pepsi from head to half of his shirt. By that time Deidara had moved away from the horrible scene and watched with his cronies as it all unfurled. He sat down and snatched a muffin and a cup of Starbucks from his brother Tobi, the laughter continued as Kabuto ran out of the place like he was on fire.
“Well, that was cruel and unusual. Yet, it made my day.” Naru couldn't wait for this period to be over. Her muse was interrupted by Gaara moving out of his seat. Everyone's attention was on him as he maneuvered past a bunch of boys playing basketball. He must have been thinking about something important because a stray ball hit him square in the noggin, making him collapse unconscious face down on the floor. No one moved or breathed but one person did. Deidara got up and headed down to where Gaara fell, he checked his pulse, and then stood; giving a face that said he was fine. Finally, he took it upon himself to sit on his unconscious body to finish his muffin and coffee. What a day, and Naru couldn't wait to graduate.
