Wooing Stubborn Mates

Chapter 1

“I can’t believe that we’re all getting along,” Kagome said as she placed Shippo down to play in the meadow of flowers as they had arrived at the spot that they were going to be meeting Sesshomaru at.

“I know,” Inuyasha said as he sat down in the flowers, lying down on his back and resting his head against him arms “But big battles with very evil youkai will do that.”

Kagome sighed as she lay down in the flowers, snuggled up against Inuyasha as she watched Shippo make a flower crown. It had been so long ago, that night she had gone back to tell her family about her and Inuyasha only to find themselves face to face with people in dresses, it seemed that her little brother was a wizard, a Muggle-born, and that these people had come all the way from America to ask him to come to their school.

Her Grandfather had known something wasn’t right when he said no, and he was correct when they had gotten a visit from the real wizards from America trying to apologies and check if everything was alright, seemed that some war from England had just finished and the last few ‘Death Eaters’ had left the country in hopes of escaping prison.

In the end one of them had somehow been able get away and follow Kagome to travel into the past only to have them in a huge battle that the wizard almost won if it wasn’t for Sesshomaru hearing his little brothers shouts and had come to help.

In the end they had talked, fought, and yelled at each other about things before agreeing to get along with each other, which was why they were now waiting in the flower meadow for Sesshomaru.

“What if he doesn’t approve of me?” Kagome asked as she clung to Inuyasha in worry as Shippo was distracting by a butterfly “After all I’m a human and miko.”

“Don’t worry love,” Inuyasha said as he moved to his side so he was able to stroke Kagome’s hair “It’s not like your meeting him for the first time or anything.”

Kagome pouted “I know that but what if he…”

“What if he what?” an amused voice sounded from behind them making the two look up.

Walking towards them at a calm pace was Sesshomaru with Rin who had run off in front to go and play with Shippo.

“Big Brother,” Inuyasha said as he sat up in the flowers as to stand up but Sesshomaru sat down next to him before he could.

“Don’t worry wench,” Sesshomaru said, with the insult having no heat the words. “I approve of you and Shippo as my brother’s mate and pup.”

Sesshomaru laughed at the shocked faces that he was given.

“What do you take me for?” Sesshomaru said, “I do keep an eye out for my little brother and his pack you know!”

“Yeah, now that you’re not trying to kill us,” Inuyasha muttered.

In responds Kagome hit Inuyasha on the head.

“Stupid female,” Inuyasha muttered.

‘If this is what she’s like now then I’d hate to see what she’s like when pregnant.’ Sesshomaru thought as he watched his little brother and mate argue.

“What’s the plan then?” Kagome finally asked once they had calmed down and checked on Rin and Shippo.

“The plan is not to try and kill your own mate,” Inuyasha muttered “And here I thought I was the Seme.”

This got him another hit around the head from his mate.

“So what are we going to be doing?” Kagome finally asked “My family knows that I’ll be gone for two months now that I’ve completed my education and with Kaede being here they know my priestess training won’t suffer.”

“We will be staying in my castle, introducing you to people,” Sesshomaru said as he listed the things off much to Kagome’s and Inuyasha’s horror as it seemed that both of them would be going through this and not only Kagome and sometimes Shippo too.

“Guess we should get going if we want to make it to the castle in time before it gets to dark,” Inuyasha said not wanting his mate or pup to be out in the open unprotected when they could go somewhere that was well protected and safe.

“For a change my brother is correct,” Sesshomaru said as he got up and called out for Rin and Shippo to return to them.

“Hey! I’m always…” Inuyasha started off with a glare which soon turned to a worried frown when he noticed that his brother wasn’t paying any attention to him but sniffing the air, it was almost like he could smell…

“Alright you two let’s get going,” Kagome said suddenly bringing Inuyasha and Sesshomaru back to reality, looking in her direction she had everything packed up and ready to go with Rin and Shippo standing at her side.

“Fine,” Inuyasha said as he crossed his arms and started to walk in the direction of the castle with the others following close behind him.

They walked in silence for a couple of hours, taking turns to carry Rin and Shippo before anything happened.

“Look!” Rin suddenly said as she pointed to a sign a couple of feet in front of them “Rin thinks that Sesshomaru has a new village in his kingdom.”

The adults frowned and read the sign: This way to humkai village.

“A play on words,” Kagome said as she read the name, seeing the looks she was getting she explained “The first part of the village’s name is ‘hum’ which is short for human and the last part of the villages name is ‘kai’ which I’m guessing means ‘youkai’ so it’s sort of like saying humanyokai but in a lazy way.”

“Not that this isn’t interesting and everything but can’t we just skip this stupid village and get to the castle?” Inuyasha asked.

“Rin thinks that we may not have a choice,” Rin said as she and Shippo stood looking up at the sky where there was dark angry storm clouds starting to gather.

“We will go and seek shelter in humkai village and at the same time see about this new village that has appeared in this Sesshomaru's lands,” Sesshomaru said.

With the agreement of everyone, they started to make their way towards the village, following the direction that the sign was pointing them in, not noticing the figure hidden in the tree tops.
